“Every little girl watching tonight sees that this is a country of possibilities. And to the children of our country, regardless of your gender, our country has sent you a clear message: dream with ambition, lead with conviction, and see yourself in a way that others might not see you, simply because they’ve never seen it before. And we will applaud you every step of the way.” — Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris
GOD-ORDERED STEPS
Dr. Karen Hills Pruden, as it turned out, was the victim of what was a raw deal.
“When I was seeking a mentor to coach me,” Dr. Pruden, during an interview this week with Making Headline News, recalling the memorable developments that contributed mightily to her endeavor as a crafty author. “There was no woman who looked like me in my immediate professional environment. Therefore, I found a woman professional on LinkedIn and asked her to be my mentor. She accepted (my proposition) for a price. I paid her $350 for a one-hour conversation each month. We had that relationship for one year. I have not heard from her since.”
While Dr. Pruden apparently was — for a lack of better words — left hanging while trying diligently to become a better version of herself, such an ineffective working rapport didn’t merely deter her from fulfilling the divine purpose for which she was created.
To her credit, Dr. Pruden has written eight books to date. Her featured written work, Pruden Principles:10 Strategies to Propel Women to the C-Suite, has been as good as advertised since its ceremonious release in July 2020.

“I knew of no published book or resource that detailed what women should focus on when pursuing a senior leadership recruitment process,” Dr. Pruden, the owner and CEO of Virginia Beach, Virginia-based Pruden Global Business Solutions Consulting LLC, said of her quest to compose her featured written document.
An informative and compelling book that is comprised of 105 pages in length, Dr. Pruden’s Pruden Principles:10 Strategies to Propel Women to the C-Suite is for what this author deems “the career focused, intentionally strategic, female middle manager” who wants to be equipped and ready when her opportunity arrives to propel her to the C-Suite. These strategies, she emphasized, are focused on the preparation and selection process of C-Suite talent.
As for the divine message she aspires to send to her reading audience through her featured book, Dr. Pruden said: “Women must prepare and focus on the right competencies when seeking senior leadership positions. There is a knowledge gap when it comes to the areas in which women need to prepare to transition from a management mentality to a leadership mentality.
“Managers are concerned about completion of work in the here and now. Leaders focus on the long game of three to five years down the road. Women who focus on data driven leadership, executive communication, relationships throughout an organization, and their specialization in their field tend to be more successful.”
Much to her delight, Dr. Pruden has become the beneficiary of a rash of rave reviews since the debut of Pruden Principles:10 Strategies to Propel Women to the C-Suite.
“I have received excellent feedback,” Dr. Pruden said. “I have been an invited expert on podcasts, radio, and other forms of media to talk specifically about the various competencies in my book. I also have an upcoming Career Planning Workbook coming this year at the suggestion of others.”
Interestingly enough, Dr. Pruden is one of a gallery of co-authors who have contributed to Mitchellville, Maryland-based businesswoman Dr. Jennifer Jones Bryant’s Step Into Leadership Greatness: Leadership Isn’t Just A Title, a book that is scheduled to make its official release in March 2021.
“I am elated about my upcoming collaboration with Dr. Jennifer Bryant,” Dr. Pruden said. “We are writing about various forms of leadership styles.”
Dr. Pruden’s chapter in Step Into Leadership Greatness: Leadership Isn’t Just A Title is entitled, When Leadership Is Absent.
Besides Pruden Principles:10 Strategies to Propel Women to the C-Suite and Step Into Leadership Greatness: Leadership Isn’t Just A Title, Dr. Pruden authored the following written works:
- Undeterred: Success Stories of Female Leaders who Pursued A Seat at the Table Despite Setbacks, released in 2020.
- Courageous Enough To Launch: Stories and Strategies of Every Day Women Who Faced Their Fears To Launch & Grow Thriving Businesses, released in 2020.
- Entreprenurial Elevation: 31 Strategic Lessons & Personal Stories From Purpose-Driven Entrepreneurs, released in 2019
- Speaking My Truth: 50 Real Life Stories that Inspire, Empower, Heal and Transform, released in 2019.
- The Humans Behind The Resources: Hear the stories of these amazing culture architects, released in 2019.
- Women Inspiring Nations, Volume 2: 23 Women Share Their Stories of Transitioning From Struggle to Success, released in 2019 and,
- Her 2016-released book, Attract, Then Repel: Why Are Candidates Abandoning Your Employment Process?
Also, this week, Dr. Pruden announced that her company will be publishing an anthology, one that will be accompanied by a military theme, of sorts.
The title: Complicated Alliances: Accounts of Career Women in the Armed Forces And Career Women Who Love Men In The Armed Forces, a project that is scheduled to debut in April 2021.

Moreover, said Dr. Pruden, alluding to HR Confidential: A Glimpse Into the Diary of a Human Resource Executive, her forthcoming June 2021 book: “Early summer, I will be publishing excerpts from my personal diary about real situations I have had to address as a human resource executive.”
All things considered, Dr. Pruden doesn’t shy away from the notion that her featured book aligns with the purpose for which God has created her.
“Proverbs 1:5 states, ‘A wise man will hear and increase learning, and that man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsel,’” Dr. Pruden said. “I interpret this scripture to mean that we must be lifetime learners. We must seek to build on our knowledge. My (featured) book is for professional women to focus on the areas that will increase the likelihood of being hired in a senior leadership position. Those areas are industry expertise, relationships, communication, analytics, and professional presence.”
