FOR STARTERS
First time for everything.
For Armond Gray Jr., his fervent rise to becoming a first-time author has finally come full circle.
On Thursday, Gray Jr. witnessed the much-anticipated release of The Petals Fall One by One, his awe-inspiring written work that was birthed behind the life-altering influential impact of his father, the Chapman University senior told Making Headline News.
“God gave me the vision to write this book through my dad,” Gray Jr., 21, said. “I began writing poems during quarantine to pass the time but, by May of 2020, I had already compiled around 200 poems. My dad always saw me writing, so he mentioned that I should consider writing a book. I had always enjoyed writing but rarely shared my work, so I thought about it and began to review all of the work I had written so far. I realized that they all had the overarching theme of love, so I used that as the book’s basis and continued to build from there.”

Having officially announced the ceremonious release of his book during a midday Facebook Live video, Gray Jr. needed approximately eight months to produce a book he emphasized is one that figures to inspire and resonate with others.
“Never in a million years would I have thought that I would be publishing a book at the age of 21, but with faith and belief in yourself, the sky’s the limit,” Gray Jr. said. “I also know that the human experience is very similar, so I produced this book to connect with readers and let them know that there is always light at the end of the tunnel, no matter what they may be going through.”

As for the feedback since word spread of Gray’s quest of becoming an author, he’s subsequently become the beneficiary of a rash of rave reviews, a trend he hopes will continue for quite some time.
“From the four people that have read it in full, I have been told that it brings them a sense of peace and calmness,” Gray Jr. said. “I’ve heard that it is very relatable and easy to connect with.
“This book is part of the purpose for which God has created me because I have taken a liking to poetry since middle school,” Gray Jr. continued. “I’ve always been fascinated by how the lines rhyme — or don’t rhyme — and the lasting impact that an insightful poem always has once you’ve finished reading it. Writing has become my artistic outlet, and I believe that this is just the beginning of my writing career, whether it’s penning another book or venturing into songwriting.”
