Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. (1 Corinthians 15:58 KJV)
REAPING A HARVEST
LaTonya Merritt was only being honest about what she witnessed years ago.
“Growing up as the daughter of a minister, I watched my single mother help so many people, spiritually and naturally,” Merritt recalls. “I felt that it was no way that I was ever going to be able to measure up to half the spiritual woman she was. So, I pursued the journey as a life coach only to find myself five years later becoming an evangelist and spiritual advisor.”
During Making Headline News’ Woman Thou Art Loosed Virtual Experience coverage of Bishop T. D. Jakes’ annual event, Merritt spoke at length about how God has catapulted her to her divine purpose for such a time as now.
A native of Birmingham, Alabama who resides in Charlotte, North Carolina, Merritt has been blessed to make immeasurable strides as an accomplished spiritual advisor and life coach whose gifts are steadily making room for her.
A little more than five years in her selected line of work, Merritt has made her presence felt in a variety of places around the country, most notably Washington, DC, Vermont, Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina, among other establishments.
“(My personal mission for doing this work is) to help heal others, one heartbeat at a time,” Merritt said of her featured endeavor, which customarily services individuals and groups ranging in ages 25-and-up.
Interestingly enough, Merritt was inspired by a number of individuals to move forward with her quest of becoming a spiritual advisor and life coach, most notably her late mother, Prophetess Barbara J. Solomon, her sister, First Lady Olivia Pruitt of Pentecostal Faith in Birmingham, her mentor, Andrea L. Gates, and Destiny Development Coach Stacia Odums.
THE JOHN 10:10 AFFECT
Merritt also is a cancer survivor who has chronicled her awe-inspiring journey in Women Who Pray: 90 Days Of Powerful Prayers, the highly-anticipated anthology that is spearheaded by St. Mary’s, Georgia-based International Motivational Speaker and Bestselling Author Carleeka Basnight-Menendez.
A spiritually-powering, life-altering written work that has already created a national buzz, Women Who Pray: 90 Days Of Powerful Prayers is comprised of 90 co-authors from the “north, south, east and west,” Basnight-Menendez told Making Headline News during a recent interview.
Said Merritt during a July 2021 interview with MHN: “Being a nine-year cancer survivor, I have been graced by God to let others know that through the power of prayer, healing is possible. We must have strength to know that after the pain, there is purpose.”

As for her fervent rise as a spiritual advisor and life coach, Merritt doesn’t shy away from the notion that she has been strategically set aside for God’s use.
“(I love) being able to labor with (others) and watch the transformation of their lives,” Merritt said. “Being a nine-year cancer survivor and battling Stage 3 breast cancer, I found that there is a way out of anything by seeking God for clarity and guidance. Being the youngest of nine (children), I developed spiritual relationships with God at an early age. I fought against my calling for years. I knew that by being healed from cancer, I had to spread the news that there is hope in the midst of storm.”
Simply put, she was only being honest.
