DIVINE DESTINY: Native Memphian Princess Mickens expanding her entrepreneurial endeavors with startup of her own credible security company

Andre Johnson August 21, 2022

She considers a field before she buys or accepts it — expanding her business prudently — with her profits, she plants fruitful vines in her vineyard. (Proverbs 31:16 Amplified Bible)

TENNES-SEE DREAMS FULFILLED

YOU GO GIRL!!! After becoming first-aid and CPR certified in her chosen profession, Memphis businesswoman Princess Mickens has become greatly inspired to spearhead her own security business to complement her rising clothing apparel and catering ventures. A graduate of Memphis Northside High who completed her undergraduate studies at Scottsdale, Arizona-based Penn Foster College, Mickens said she finally has come up with an official name for her feature entrepreneurial endeavor: Divine Security & Transportation.

Princess Mickens’ tenure as an accomplished security officer spans some 15-plus years.

Today, she’s destined to branch out and establish her own unique brand in her selected profession.

A native Memphian, Mickens has been a licensed armed and unarmed security officer dating back to 2007 and, for the past five years, she’s assumed a supervisory post in the industry.

“I’m certified in report writing, prison transport, arrest, self-defense, handcuff, baton, taser, tabor, gun, stun gun, pepper spray, additional firearms, and post orders,” Mickens, 34, told Making Headline News this week.

ON A LIFE-ALTERING MISSION — “My personal mission is to leave a corporate business for my legacy,” said Mickens, “and to help many other families be a part of a wonderful business that can also provide for their legacy as well.”

Now after becoming first-aid and CPR certified in her chosen profession, Mickens has become greatly inspired to spearhead her own security business to complement her rising clothing apparel and catering endeavors.

“I have other business endeavors, but security and law enforcement have always been my go-to (job), other than catering,” Mickens said. “I like the idea of protecting people, even if it’s just making them aware of their surroundings, giving them a sense of comfort knowing they have a secured company or person that is passionate about their work.”

As Mickens steadily constructs her security business, she said she will implement strategic plans “to be a help to the community” by providing transportation and security escorting services to what will ultimately emerge as her featured endeavor.

“All in one package deal,” Mickens said. “The transportation (service) is for whomever needs rides to medical appointments, mainly the disable or people who need escorting for an event or to a funeral at an affordable rate.”

A graduate of Memphis Northside High who completed her undergraduate studies at Scottsdale, Arizona-based Penn Foster College, Mickens said she finally has come up with an official name for her feature entrepreneurial endeavor: Divine Security & Transportation, a company that customarily offers a variety of services, including armed and unarmed standing post and/or patrol, bag checking, pat-down body guard service, transportation and escorting, private and corporate protection services, transport service, and traveling up to up to a 200-miles radius.

Also, Divine Security & Transportation provides out-of-town services, depending on contractual agreements.

As Mickens explained, there is much inspiration — most notably experiences she’s admittedly seen up-close and in-person, she acknowledged — behind her fervent quest of starting her own security company.

DIVINE DESTINY STEPS

“What drove me is seeing so much crime and domestic issues growing up,” Mickens told MHN. “I wanted to be able to provide help to families or businesses some type of way just had to find out what and how (to become a solution to these ongoing issues). I like the authority it also gives. I also started seeing other companies that I had worked for not really taking pride in what they do, either, not caring about the clients or not valuing their workers and, of course, I was one of their workers at many security companies and I just felt unappreciated and underpaid.

“So, with that and being that I had put in so much work and effort with other companies, I decided to start my own,” Mickens continued. “The stuff I’ve seen in my younger years with crime and different businesses having lazy guard companies or no company at all motivated me even more to start my own journey with my own business in security. We have professional, certified guards ready to work.”

ENHANCING HER BRAND

SHE’S PAID HER DUES — “I’m certified in report writing, prison transport, arrest, self-defense, handcuff, baton, taser, tabor, gun, stun gun, pepper spray, additional firearms, and post orders,” Mickens, 34, told Making Headline News this week.

Interestingly enough, Mickens said her father, a former military soldier, has been arguably her biggest supporter, particularly as it relates to her desire to start her own security venture.

“He was in the military and always wanted me to be a police officer or get my own funeral escorting business,” Mickens, a single mother of four, said. “So, he kind of lured me in that direction to take it a step further.”

And the rest, as they say, was history.

Today, Mickens seems very much on path to making her long-awaited entrepreneurial ambition a reality — this after she has invested a considerable amount of time helping other security companies achieve their customer services goals and objectives.

SHE’S WELL PREPARED — A native Memphian, Mickens has been a licensed armed and unarmed security officer dating back to 2007 and, for the past five years, she’s assumed a supervisory post in the industry.

“My personal mission is to leave a corporate business for my legacy,” said Mickens, “and to help many other families be a part of a wonderful business that can also provide for their legacy as well.”

What a remarkable legacy she’s starting to build in her selected profession.

With God, her Helper, steering the way.
