PRESIDENT JOSEPH R. BIDEN 2023 LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD RECIPIENT: Well-respected Maryland philanthropist Dr. Mary J. Huntley honored on a national stage — just as God said she would

Andre Johnson March 1, 2023 5 min read

But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. (Matthew 23:11); For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister. (Hebrews 6:10)

TO GOD BE THE GLORY!

Much to her delight Dr. Mary J. Huntley, has become the beneficiary of an array of congratulatory shout outs and well wishes in recent weeks.

Amongst the biggest reasons is that Dr. Huntley was named a recipient for The Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award during a celebratory luncheon honoring community leaders and heroes in Flowood, Mississippi.

An empowerment assembly that was spearheaded by the Jackson, Mississippi metropolitan area, Dr. Huntley was officially honored January 29.

By and large, The Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award is widely considered one of the highest honors presented to individuals who have overcome significant obstacles to achieve impressive accomplishments, thus dedicated their lives to advocating for the most vulnerable among humanity and acted with bravery to drive change in their communities — and across the world — while blazing trails for generations to come.

AND IT CAME TO PASS

ON A NATIONAL STAGE — Dr. Huntley was named a recipient for The Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award during a celebratory luncheon honoring community leaders and heroes in Flowood, Mississippi.

“This award honors individuals whose service positively and globally impacts communities of the nation,” Dr. Huntley, a resident of the DMV area, told Making Headline News during a recent interview.

Having been a lifetime Girl Scout since 1996, Dr. Huntley serves as CEO of a credible nonprofit organization and is committed to serving the community, particularly by giving back by way of various empowerment projects.

In addition, she has served as Outreach Coordinator who is responsible for feeding the homeless while providing holiday meals. Moreover, she has accompanied ministry teams to nursing homes to provide services to the elderly.  Additionally, she teaches, mentors and supervises students across the globe.  She is grateful for the opportunity to provide much needed food and financial assistance through her non-profit organization.

DEMYSTIFYING MENTAL HEALTH STIGMAS ONE MIND AT A TIME

An accomplished Mental Health Professional, Dr. Huntley is a well-respected Licensed Professional Counselor who has acquired nine Advanced Certifications. A Board-Certified Master Life Coach, Dr. Huntley works feverishly in an effort to fulfill her assignment as an encourager and exhorter. Her primary leadership style is philanthropic with a Support Leader Minor. Therefore, it came very naturally for her to tap into the strength and professionalism of her mental health network and community during the pandemic to provide much needed professional pro bono services. Faced with much uncertainty families reached out to her non-profit organization for help.  And she rallied the troops to she answered the call with a resounding Yes. By God’s amazing grace the team serviced clients in the spirit of excellence to the glory of God!

Currently, she serves as a collaborative partner with Dr. Jennifer Jones Bryant to hold Professional Mental Health Series to help demystify the stigma of mental health.  These sessions are inclusive of everyone, and to equip them with the knowledge and resources to take action for their mental health. Depression, Suicide, Mental Health in the Church, and Mental Health in our Schools are a few topics that have been addressed recently.  This series continues to provide a platform to address much needed mental health topics.

LEADING BY SERVING

“If serving is beneath you, then leadership is beyond you.” — Dr. Mary J. Huntley

Dr. Huntley is widely regarded as a proven leader who supports and produces other leaders. Before graduating from Apostle Matthew Stevenson III’s Leadership School, for instance, she confirmed her primary leadership style as philanthropic (formerly known as non-profit leader committed to helping others who are disadvantaged, disenfranchised, or hurting). To her credit, her leadership is hinged upon helping and improving the lives of others.

Interestingly enough, her secondary leadership style is support leader, in large part because she supports others globally and loves helping them reach their goals. Not only that, she has served in various leadership positions in church, government, and private sector. She has served as CEO of a non-profit organization since 2009.

In addition, Dr. Huntley is honored to provide professional pro bono counseling, professional coaching, and professional mental health services. Additionally, she serves as an international representative and clinical supervisor for a counseling organization.  She teaches, supervises, mentors and trains students interested the counseling field. Utilizing her servitude attitude, and leadership abilities she serves with integrity and in excellence “to the glory of God,” she emphasized.

As for latest honor of being named a recipient for The Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award, Dr. Huntley said: “I was ecstatic, grateful, and honored to receive the congratulatory correspondence sharing that I had been selected to receive the prestigious Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award. This is an amazing blessing and I give God all praise, glory, and honor.

“Sometimes we may feel that our labor is in vain and that we are overlooked and unnoticed.  But I am so glad that God’s all-seeing eyes never sleep nor slumber. Most importantly, He is no respecter of persons, but He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him,” Dr. Huntley continued. “So, I would like to encourage others to keep showing up to bring God glory, knowing that whatever is right HE will pay.  God provides dividends that are out of this world! And He will drop your name in rooms where your feet have not yet entered. Lastly, remember that Ephesians 3:20 says ‘He is able to do exceeding, abundantly above all that you ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.’”
