DALLAS — For Dr. A’Londa L. Barber-Kusimo, it took quite a while — nearly four decades to be technical.
Still, all that matters, really, is that she acted out of obedience unto God.
“It took me 38 years to own up to who I was and the life God has for me, because I spent so much time trying to live up to other’s expectations of me and who I should be,” Dr. Barber-Kusimo, 51, during an interview this week with Making Headline News, recalling the rash of development that have ultimately led to her accepting the divine calling on her life.
“I want to help others find their purpose and passion sooner than later, as well as I want to empower them to be their own voice and not let others determine the outcome of their life and future.”

To her distinctly unique credit, Dr. Barber-Kusimo can greatly attest to the notion that she is functioning fervently in her God-manifested element as a serial entrepreneur who is the mastermind of Percibility, LLC, the parent company to LonnieB Creative Designs, Optic Tea With LonnieB, Morning Tea With LonnieB, and I Am LonnieB.
In essence, Dr. Barber-Kusimo could be appropriately described as a woman of many hats.

FULFILLING HER PURPOSE
“I have always done graphic design as it was a gift given by God,” Dr. Barber-Kusimo said. “It has always been a passion of mine and I love to see the excitement and happiness on clients’ faces when they see the finished product.”
Interestingly enough, Dr. Barber-Kusimo had become greatly inspired to delve into the ever-evolving world of entrepreneurship full-time some three years ago amid a stroke she suffered in 2019 due to stress.
“I said to myself, ‘If I am going to go through this much stress — which almost ended my life for someone else’s company — then I would rather fulfill my passion, make others happy, and live a stress-free life on my terms,” Dr. Barber-Kusimo explained. “I realized when operating in your passion, there is stress, but it is not stress, because God has positioned me to handle what comes my way. I call it walking in favor, which is led by God.”
A native of El Paso, Texas who was raised in Dallas, Dr. Barber-Kusimo doesn’t shy away from the notion that she finds pleasure in functioning as a servant leader, one can strategically empower and help people from various walks of life find their own voice.
“I also love assisting individuals and businesses brand themselves by thinking outside the box while making a bold statement, which sets them apart from their competitors,” she said.
BEAUTY FOR ASHES
A well-respected entrepreneur and philanthropist whose expertise has attracted a global presence — most notably Barbados, Canada, Dubai, Ghana, Nigeria, and the United Kingdom — Dr. Barber-Kusimo’s business endeavors customarily service individuals and groups ranging in ages 14-and-up.
“My personal mission for doing this is it took me 38 years to own up to who I was and accept the life God has for me because I spent so much time trying to live up to other’s expectations of me and who I should be,” Dr. Barber-Kusimo recalls. “So if I can be a blessing to someone, to help to accept who they are while empowering them to walk in their truth, then I am fulfilling a portion of my purpose here on earth.”
To her credit, Dr. Barber-Kusimo’s entrepreneurial experience spans some two-and-a-half decades, although she added the consultant and coaching services to Percibility, LLC in 2022.
SET ASIDE FOR GOD’S USE
“With over 50 years of life, there are so many people who have planted, watered, nurtured, and watch God increase and do the increase in my life,” Dr. Barber-Kusimo said. “To answer your question today, ‘Who was among those who inspired me to do this?’ I would have to say it was and are my supporters and my haters.
“For they are the ones who push me to do better, they allow me to see my flaws and definitely let me know when I am not doing the work for the kingdom. Seeing both your supporters and haters are necessary as they both keep you rooted, grounded, and, most of all, humble. The only difference is the messenger and how the message is delivered.”
