I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart. I have overcome the world. (John 16:33 NIV)
BE HEALED, BE DELIVERED, BE SET FREE
Two notable factors with regards to being active in ministry are this:
Not only do those who engage in kingdom work fortify their gifts as unto the Lord but, chances are, they will at some point in time, witness or experience church hurt.
As Dr. Barbara L Howard recalls, she’s witnessed it up close, in real time.
For that reason, Dr. Howard had become greatly inspired to spearhead Wounded Sheep: How To Heal Church Hurt, her featured book that was released in October 2017.

A spiritually gut-checking written work that had been in the works for approximately a year — Dr. Howard had grasped the vision to compose the book sometime in 2016 — Wounded Sheep: How To Heal Church Hurt vividly reminds the masses that “unless you have been wounded by church hurt, you have not been wounded at all,” according to synopsis of this Mid-South author’s book at Amazon.com.
As part of Making Headline News’ 2023 Essence Music Festival advance coverage leading to the “the party with a purpose” event June 29-July 3 in New Orleans, Dr. Howard recalled how the more she became involved in church, the more she witnessed people hurting.
“And many even left church,” Dr. Howard told MHN. “(God give me the vision to write this book) around 1996 while watching my current pastor going through church hurt.”
CASTING YOUR CARES UPON HIM
A book that is accompanied by 48 pages in length, Dr. Howard emphasized, among other things, God has given her an immeasurable, credible ministry, during which she could teach about spiritual warfare and love.
“That church hurt is real,” Dr. Howard said. “Spiritual hurt can lead to physical illness if not addressed. The way to get to the healing of church hurt is through forgiveness and love.”
A native of New Albany, Mississippi — a rural Union County establishment that is comprised of roughly 7,626 residents, according to the latest census — Dr. Howard in August 2013 made her authorship debut with the release of Wounded Sheep: How To Calm A Storm, which jumpstarted her Wounded Sheep series.
Suitably dubbed a Christian inspirational book, Dr. Howard’s Wounded Sheep: How To Calm A Storm’s vividly reminds us that Biblical scripture is applied to everyday life issues to achieve victory through Christ Jesus.
