Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6 KJV)
MY SOUL SAYS YES, LORD!
Of all people, Kim A. Smith made certain to seek and consult the Person Who matters most.
Almighty God.
“It was important for me to get direction from God, but also counsel from my Pastor,” Smith, during an interview this week with Making Headline News, said, recalling the memorable developments surrounding her much-anticipated authorship debut. “My Pastor’s advice was to talk to the Holy Spirit and He would instruct me on what I should do, which I did.”
And the rest, as they say, was history,
And it wasn’t long thereafter that Smith had emerged as a first-time published author by way of Seeing Myself In HER Story: A Sister Circle Of Stories To Connect, Heal, and Push Us Through, fellow Maryland Visionary Author Tamika Paige’s highly-anticipated first anthology that will debut in the coming weeks.

A native of Washington, D.C., Smith is one of 48 co-authors who has collectively assembled a Seeing Myself In HER Story: A Sister Circle Of Stories To Connect, Heal, and Push Us Through anthology that has caused a fervent buzz throughout various message boards and social media platforms in recent months.
As part of Making Headline News’ advance coverage of Sarah Jakes Roberts’ inaugural Woman Evolve Conference September 14-16 from Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, Smith — who resides in Suitland, Maryland — said her rise to emerging as an author comes amid her getting God’s approval, coupled with the wise counsel of her spiritual father.
In that order.
“I wanted to be sure that my interest and inclusion in this project was something my spiritual mind wanted to do,” Smith told MHN. “I was sure that I wanted my journey to display God’s glory and grace, but I didn’t want anything to take away from Him. I was adamant that I wanted my feature to talk about my spiritual journey.”
Powered by Women’s History Month, according to Paige, the legwork for Seeing Myself In HER Story: A Sister Circle Of Stories To Connect, Heal, and Push Us Through commenced in January and took somewhere in the neighborhood of approximately six months to complete.

“It doesn’t matter where you are in life, Seeing Myself In HER Story offers inspiration to all readers,” said a spokesperson for Paige’s first anthology via Amazon.com. “The book greets every reader with testimonies that uplift, encourage, and act as a guide. From the trials and triumphs, to the transparent topics, the S.H.E. — She Has Experience — organization presents a book that is designed to help women continue a path of pushing through.
“The women in this book have been bonded and connected by sharing their truths, hearts, and stories of perseverance and were led in this effort by none-other-than CEO and Founder of Paige Group Inc., Tamika Paige.”
As Smith recalls, she began writing her submission for the anthology on the evening of May 13.
It was, as she acknowledged, time well-invested.
“Three hours later, I had more than I needed for my entry,” Smith said. “It was much easier than I thought to put my expressions on paper.”
HANDPICKED BY GOD
WE SALUTE YOU
Alluding specifically to John 12:24, Smith said the divine message through her chapter is centered in large part on embracing the goodness of God.
“Unless you make the decision to surrender your life to the perfect plan of God, you will continue to stumble and bump your head, making bad decisions,” Smith explained. “I believe a lot of people believe that when you are walking with Christ, there is no fun in that and that is simply not true. That is a lie from the devil, period.
“After I made the decision (to live for Jesus Christ), I am living my best life and things are happening for me that I never imagined, like this article about me being a coauthor of a book. I feel my best. I look my best. I am having my biggest and best…and this is only the beginning. My best days are upon me yet.”
Much to her delight, Smith has fielded a rash of rave reviews since word spread that she is on the brink of becoming a first-time author.
“The response to my writing the book has been amazing,” Smith said. “I am filled with gratitude. People seem genuinely excited about reading my story and that’s awesome. I’m really excited about my friends and family that knew me closely to see and read what ‘I’m on’ these days.”
As she and her fellow co-authors look ahead to the official release of Seeing Myself In HER Story, Smith said what matters most, in the meantime, is that God is gloried through this national book project.
“My daily prayers are for God to be glorified through me and for His plan and purpose for my life to be revealed,” Smith said. “Then, I want to fulfill it and make Him proud. I want people to know and understand that God’s grace is ever sufficient, and I want people to see that through me. That is why I wrote the book, to tell my story. I want people to know that it’s a great life in Christ.”
TO GOD BE THE GLORY
Interestingly enough, Smith emphasized joining Seeing Myself In HER Story has empowered her to produce other writings — much sooner than later.
“After writing this book, I now realize I have a story to tell,” she said. “I definitely plan on writing another book and I am thinking about venturing into other platforms like podcasting and vlogging. I’m excited for this opportunity to talk about what God is doing in my life and I truly hope that it will inspire other women to let God use them to be an example of His grace, wisdom and favor. Like really, who doesn’t want God’s grace, wisdom, and favor?”
Amen, sister.
Amen.
