For Williams her rise to becoming a first-time author comes amid her milestone as a longtime and well-respected Washington D.C.-area Behavioral Health Psychotherapist.
A native of Augusta, Georgia who is a proud alumna of the University of Maryland-University College (Bachelors of Science in Psychology and Certificate in Clinical Mental Health) and member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Williams is the CEO and founder of Miracles In Motion Therapy and Consulting LLC, her rising private practice where she provides trauma and addiction psychotherapy for adults and youth, particularly in Maryland and Washington, D.C.
“I love the opportunity to be a part of the process and revelation when individuals see the hope and promise for their lives despite their current circumstance,” Williams, who enrolled at Spelman College at 16 years of age, told MHN during a recent interview. “I wouldn’t so much describe it as a competitive drive, but a drive to fulfill my God-given purpose and passion for serving others.”
A behavioral health tenure that spans some 14 years, Williams’ Miracles In Motion Therapy and Consulting customarily services individuals and groups ranging in ages 13-and-up.
“My personal mission for doing this work is to help individuals heal by creating healthier communities,” Williams explained. “I genuinely care about people and helping them manifest their hopes and dreams while living their best lives.”
Interestingly enough, Williams — “Definitely attribute my experience and cultivation as an empowered, confident, and assertive leadership to the Spelman College family,” she acknowledged — credits her grandmother for helping empower her to achieve entrepreneurial success.
Sustained success, to put it more precisely.
“She provided direct service working with adolescent males at the (area) Youth Development Center, which is devoted to giving youth a safe place, as well as a space to explore and grow for several years,” Williams recalls. “She was a social worker before licensing, and I watched her make a difference in several lives. She was kind, respectful, yet clear with her boundaries as she helped these young boys choose manhood for themselves. I wanted to make that same difference in my community and experience the same joy I witnessed in her with every young man that chose life.”
FULFILLING HER DIVINE PURPOSE
Williams’ itinerary includes serving as a panelist at BusBoys and Poets, presented by The WIRE (Women Involved In Reentry Efforts) August 23, she announced.
“It is important that I esteem and inspire others daily because it made a difference in my life when I didn’t have hope and saw no path forward,” Williams said. “I had a praying grandmother who believed in me, and I believe in the power of prayer. I believe in the purpose God has for my life and I’m humbled to be considered an inspiration to others.”
Especially as a first-time published author.
Mission accomplished.
