Setting a goal is not the main thing. It is deciding how you will go about achieving it and staying with that plan. — Tom Landry, Former Dallas Cowboys Legendary Coach
AMERICA’S PODCAST FOR AMERICA’S TEAM
DALLAS — Tamara Nicole Syas relocated from her native establishment of Lake Charles, Louisiana to the Dallas/Fort Worth area in February 1999 in large part so she could inherit better opportunities.
Amongst those golden opportunities: to be in close proximity to the Dallas Cowboys.
“I started watching football at five years old with my grandfather,” Syas told Making Headline News this week. “I chose my team at that age and have stayed with them. I decided I wanted to learn all facts and history about the team. Tony Dorsett was my favorite (player) and that’s who I fell in love with and said I am going to be a cheerleader for them. I was in love with the colors and the stars.”
Roughly three months removed from having acquired certification in Sports Broadcasting from Worldwide Sports Management to become an NFL agent, Syas, meanwhile, has steadfastly embraced yet another intriguing milestone, one that figures to enhance her passion for America’s Team for years to come.

Syas, along with Atlanta’s Shawn Fox, are the masterminds behind Stars Talking Cowboys, their rising podcast that is centered largely on discussing up-to-date developments surrounding arguably the most adored — and despised — franchise in the NFL.
A podcast Syas and Fox started in 2017, Stars Talking Cowboys customarily welcome regular contributors, Kenyatta Adams and Geoff Newton, both of whom enlighten listeners on a variety of current events around the NFL.
“The show is geared towards keeping fans updated with the latest Cowboys news,” said Syas, who is suitably known as Cowboys Nikki to her devoted audience. “We discuss all topics concerning the team, we discuss games, schedules, and anything pertaining to the team. We also discuss other teams in the NFL and happenings in the NFL.”
While up-to-date developments surrounding the Cowboys are the primary focus of the podcast, Syas and Fox often go to great lengths to shine the spotlight on other sports-related topics.

“We oftentimes will tackle things that’s going on in the world that can affect our daily living,” Syas said.
From the podcast’s outset, it’s safe to assume Syas and Fox were destined to create a credible, attention-grabbing platform that would attract thousands of Cowboy fanatics.
Mission accomplished, given a majority of their shows have garnered as many as a thousand listeners, as evidenced by their slew of podcast videos via social media and YouTube.
Also, these rising podcasters said advertising opportunities are available to those who would like to have their their goods and services promoted during their show.

“When this show started, it was with me and my co-host, Shawn Fox,” Syas said. “He reached out to me via messenger and told me that he had been watching me speak live on social media about the games, players, and other things sports-related and he wanted to know if I would join him to do a show.”
For starters, Syas and Fox would do shows via another platform before this star-studded tandem elected to branch off and do their own thing.
The rest, as they say, was history.
Seven years removed from starting their own podcast, chances are Stars Talking Sports is shaping up to emerge as a nationally-acclaimed platform for years to come.
“As time went on, we started bringing on guests to speak for certain games to discuss the team and games with us,” said Syas, a former University of Louisiana enrollee who studied Criminal Justice. “Out of the few we brought on we had Kenyetta Adams join us and the viewers seemed to like his take on things. They liked the way we all had our own opinions, but we never got out of character with each other.”
FLY EAGLES FLY
Adams has since been installed as a weekly guest of Stars Talking Cowboys. Newton, on the other hand, is an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan and makes regular appearances on the show during which he routinely discusses news around the NFC East.
“We then started having guests from the opposing teams in our division or on (Dallas’) schedule and fans come on to discuss the game that we would be playing against (their team),” Syas said. “We get their takes not only our team, but their team, and this is when Geoff Newton and die-hard Eagles fan came on. He was supposed to be a guest, but he is so real about his team, and he is not bias, so we decided to make him a regular on the show to help bring that diversity so that people can see that even though you are rivalries, you can still be friends and talk sports. Geoff has been a great addition to us as well. We have a range of motions and a range of opinions.”
HOLDIN’ DOWN IN BIG D
Interestingly enough, Syas and Fox said they have become even more inspired by Cowboy star edge rusher Micah Parson’s podcast, The Edge.
A two-time Pro Bowler, Parsons is widely regarded as one of the most knowledgeable and opinionated players in the NFL. From week-to-week, fans get the unique opportunity to hear the star linebacker dive into the biggest headlines, debate the hottest takes and more from around every corner of the league.
“If I can be honest regarding Micah Parson’s podcast, I will say that we like it,” Syas said. “We like the fact that he doesn’t shy away from the public and he says what others want to say but are scared to say anything. I like the diversity that he brings on his show. One of his best show moments for me was him having Jordan Love on there after he gave us a butt whipping.
“I like how Micah answers questions with his realness, but the downside for me is sometimes I think he should watch what he says because he plays for the Cowboys and anything he says will be blown out of the element.”
For what it’s worth, Syas sensed that Parson podcasting during the NFL regular wasn’t an ideal concept, considering one of franchise’s high-profile players would run the risk of turning off fellow Cowboys fans, particularly when uncomfortable conversations surface.
“I don’t want the distractions,” Syas told MHN. “I was wondering if it would become a big distraction. Parsons is so talented and, as long as he can play ball and do his job effectively on that field, I guess it’s okay for him to have it.”
Every now and then, fans of Stars Talking Cowboys will likely witness Syas and Fox address the ongoing developments surrounding Cowboys owner and general manager, Jerry Jones.
Jones, by these podcasters’ standards, continues to be the team’s Achilles heel, thus preventing the Cowboys from achieving the team’s ultimate ambition — seizing a Lombardi trophy that has eluded it for nearly three decades.
“I do wish Jerry would stay out of the media as much as he is,” Syas said. He is the Cowboys’ biggest issue. I also want to say that sometimes it does get a little annoying turning on the sports channels and the only thing they seem to have to talk about is the Cowboys. But I know that comes with the territory of being America’s Team.”
Not to mention a diehard fan of arguably the most loved — and hated — team in all of professional sports.
