Jay “4G” Gathers was only keeping it 100.
As this rising Atlanta entertainer recalls, 2024, by all accounts, has been one that could be appropriately described as challenging, for the most part.
Regardless, despite the rash of obstacles that periodically arose in his life to test his faith, Gathers, to his credit, diligently stuck with his customarily strategy, a trend that has helped propelled him time and again through arguably some of his most pressing times.
He strategically devised ways to bounce back.
“Twenty Twenty-four has been extremely challenging,” Gathers told Making Headline News this week. “I have been dealing with severe work-related injuries to my ankle and knee. Going through a real-life bounce back…literally. However, I’m committed to my health and determined to get back to a normal way of life.”

Aside from his being hampered by a few physical challenges, Gathers, a rising author who is the architect of the book, Bounce Back, demonstrated enough faith to spearhead his sophomore authorship project — this one entitled, Bounce Back: New Edition.
For Gathers, the official relaunch of his latest book will take place August 18 during what has been suitably dubbed the Official Book Relaunch and Bounce Back POD Party.

According to Gathers, his forthcoming event will feature readers of his latest book, podcasters, TV personalities, celebrity guests, as well as a moderator and Q & A session.

Gathers’ latest origination comes amid humble beginnings.
“Ever since the discussion with my late spiritual leader (Bishop James Kelly), I always had plans to follow through with that candid conversation when he said, ‘If you were to write a book, you’d be a millionaire. I’ve never seen anyone go through situations like you have and come out of them. You need to call it Bounce Back because I’ve never seen anyone able to bounce back like you have,’” Gathers recalls. “I believe at that moment he was speaking blessings over my life. And because I knew how to overcome things, I decided I wanted to become a blessing to others by sharing my story. I decided to turn my pain into purpose.”
All things considered — especially amid what has been a year mired by his share of turbulence — Gathers steadfastly found the strength to compose his second book to date with God, his Helper, steering the way.
For his valiant efforts, he’s come the beneficiary of a rash of rave reviews.
“I was amazed at the great responses and positive feedback it received,” Gathers told MHN. “Women loved it. The men were intrigued by the way I was able to strategically articulate and express my internal feelings, using sports illustrations and analogies. I had no idea it would be as impactful as it was.”
Interestingly enough, Gathers acknowledged that given he didn’t garner “the right support and exposure” promoting his latest book through the previous publisher he hired, he sensed essential changes were in order, particularly with regards to help expose his written work on the ideal platform.
Mission accomplished for this rising entertainer-turned-author whose highly-anticipated Bounce Back: New Edition is as good as advertised.
“Since I was doing all of the leg work, I felt it was best for me to go in an entirely different direction — first by establishing my own publishing company,” said Gathers, referring to his newly-established Grand Master Entertainment Publishing Company. “Secondly, I wanted to add more value to the book, so I decided to change things up. A new cover was created along with new content and a completely different marketing plan. That way, I could do things on my terms.”

Named Making Headline News Man of The Year for 2022, Gathers’ Bounce Back: New Edition comes a little more than a year after the ceremonious release of his original book, Bounce Back, a book that debuted approximately two months after the death of Bishop Kelly, who passed away March 22, 2023, at the age of 75.
When asked what divine message he aspires to send to his reading audience through Bounce Back: New Edition, Gathers said:
“Based on all of my trials and tribulations, I have learned the power of resilience and having unwavering faith in God. Though challenges may present themselves to us, though seasons may come and go, we mustn’t lean on our understanding.”

“This book aligns with my favorite quote by Anthony Robbins: Life is a gift…that gives us the privilege, the opportunity, and the responsibility to give something back; by becoming more. Though I was born into chaos, God still had a purpose for my life. Because of the countless obstacles and setbacks I’ve experienced, I was able to persevere. The negative connotations I encountered, curses spoken, or failures I experienced were the fuel I used to motivate me to become the man that I am today. I am a living witness that no matter what challenges I faced, there is light at the end of the tunnel.
