DALLAS — To her credit, Dr. Letitia Scott Jackson isn’t just a well-respected Dallas-Fort Worth-area businesswoman-turned-philanthropist, one who oversees a credible nonprofit organization.
She’s a rising, crafty playwright in her own right.
The founder and director of Keeping Families Connected announced she is spearheading what is suitably known as Pulpit Pimping, her highly-anticipated comedic, spiritually-uplifting stage play that figures to help advance the kingdom for years to come.
Powered by Keeping Families Connected – Dr. Jackson’s featured organization she established in 2015 — the Pulpit Pimping stage play will take place February 7 at 6 p.m. CDT at the Irving Arts Center’s Dupree Theatre, located at 3333 North MacArthur Blvd. in nearby Irving.

Generally, Pulpit Pimping is faith-centered, comedic stage play that vividly exposes hypocrisy in ministry while affirming God’s forgiveness and impartiality, Dr. Jackson told Making Headline News during a weekend interview.
Also, the production aims to entertain, provoke thoughtful reflection, and encourage spiritual discernment so audiences are less easily deceived.
Partial proceeds will help fund scholarships for students impacted by parental incarceration or disadvantage, Dr. Jackson said.
“God is no respecter of persons,” said Dr. Jackson, explaining the theme for her stage play. “(We’re reminding the masses that there is) forgiveness and truth over hypocrisy. (We’re) using humor and drama to teach accountability, spiritual study, and restoration.”

Dr. Jackson said she spent a considerable amount of time composing her latest play, which comes three years after the Houston native wrote her initial theatrical, Where The Real Church Folks At.
At the time, that play had drawn widespread rave reviews, most notably throughout parts of Texas and Louisiana.
“Both shows were sold out,” Dr. Jackson told MHN. “(That was) my very first play.”

Three years removed from having made her playwright debut, Dr. Jackson is hopeful her latest faith-based curtain-raiser creates more hoopla throughout the Body of Christ.
“Public interest is high,” Dr. Jackson said. “The production aims for strong community turnout, increased awareness of the charity’s scholarship program, and new donor and volunteer engagement for Keeping Families Connected’s ongoing work. I need to sell this play out. I’m pulling it off in less than 45 days…like for real. It’s going to be one for the books.”
Interestingly enough, Pulpit Pimping is directed by renowned poet, writer, and professor, Javon Johnson.
A native of Los Angeles, Johnson, 62, is famously known for his notable roles in The Oval (2019), American Soul (2019), and Survivor’s Remorse (2014).
Widely regarded as a multi-talented creative with a diverse career spanning stage, film, and television, Johnson has starred in a variety of notable productions, most notably Barbershop.
The author of Killing Poetry: Blackness and the Making of Slam and Spoken Word Communities, Johnson has appeared on HBO’s Def Poetry Jam, BET’s Lyric Café, TV One’s Verses & Flow, The Arsenio Hall Show, and The Steve Harvey Show.
He also co-wrote the Showtime documentary, Crossover.

Dr. Jackson’s 11-member cast stage play also will feature musical ensembles by The Jacque Gordon Ensemble and the Greater Jubilee Cathedral Choir.
The Pulpit Pimping stage play will be presented earlier this year as a standalone theatrical event,” Dr. Jackson said. “Production will be staged with professional design, live music, and a top-tier theatrical presentation under Javon Johnson’s direction. “(Our targeted audience includes) church communities, faith leaders, families affected by incarceration, supporters of criminal-justice-impacted families, local theatergoers, and the general public interested in faith-based, socially conscious entertainment.”
