Dr. Vertongie Kendrix-Bailey is all about representing the 313.
The longtime businesswoman-turned-philanthropist announced she is spearheading what is suitably known as the 313 Citywide Mental Health Summit, a credible empowerment event designed to bring about mental health awareness to the city of Detroit.
Powered by Dr. Kendrix-Bailey’s HezekiahKidz, Inc., the 313 Citywide Mental Health Summit will take place March 8 from 3-6 p.m. EDT at the Union Carpenters and Millwrights Skilled Training Center in Detroit, located at 11687 American Street.

Networking opportunities will take place during the assembly’s first hour with a general panel discussion taking place the remainder of the time.
“This event is designed to empower (the masses) with resources knowledge and chances to chat with professionals in the field,” Dr. Kendrix-Bailey, an esteemed motivational speaker, told Making Headline News during a recent interview. “This also is a community conversation to get people to empowered them with resources, knowledge, and chances to chat with professionals in the field. This is also a community conversation to get people’s attention on area that we are struggling with.
“Attendees from my prior event have enjoyed the network, having resources and vendors in one central location,” Dr. Kendrix-Bailey said. “They said my events are educational and informative and structured.”

Dr. Kendrix-Bailey emphasized, among other things, that organizers for her annal event are seeking the valiant support of the City of Detroit.
“Families and would be honored to (the general public to) come out as a vendor and let the city know you are supporting resources for our community,” Dr. Kendrix-Bailey told MHN.
Also, Dr. Kendrix-Bailey’s 313 Citywide Mental Health Summit will include resource vendors, mental health professionals, and several engaging panel discussions, many of which will be centered largely on elevating awareness, access, and solutions surrounding mental and behavioral health.
“As we enter the spring season, our goal is to educate, empower, and expand access to vital resources, while creating a safe and welcoming space for honest dialogue, questions, and community healing,” Dr. Kendrix-Bailey said. “This event is centered on empowering youth and their families while normalizing conversations around mental health.”
Generally, key discussion topics during the 313 Citywide Mental Health Summit will include the following:
- Self-awareness and emotional well-being
- Recognizing when it’s time to seek help and,
- Challenging and reducing mental health stigma
“Because many families are also impacted by autism and other disabilities, the summit will highlight the importance of supportive services, advocacy, and community involvement,” Dr. Kendrix-Bailey said. “Additionally, law enforcement and first responders will be invited to participate in order to foster stronger relationships and greater understanding during crisis response situations.”
At the heart of the summit is one essential message, Dr. Kendrix-Bailey acknowledged.
“Don’t be afraid to ask for help,” she said. “Your presence, partnership, and support would add tremendous value as we work collectively to strengthen mental well-being and advocacy across our city. We firmly believe that through collaboration, Detroit can continue to lead the way in building a healthier, more informed, and more compassionate community.”
Dr. Kendrix-Bailey’s Hezekiah Kidz, Inc. is a Detroit-based nonprofit organization, one that is dedicated to customarily empowering children living with autism, developmental disabilities, and mental health challenges.
