IN HER ELEMENT

FLOWER MOUND, Texas — Mackenzie “Kai” Pittman has yet to reach 20 years of age.
Regardless, she’s already having a monumental impact in the ever-evolving photography industry.
To her distinctly unique credit, the University of Texas at Dallas undergraduate is enjoying a considerable amount of success as the face of Captured By Kai Portraits, her rising Flower Mound, Texas-based venture that has become a fixture for customarily providing photo shoots for a variety of events, thus services couples, families, and solo portraits by way of her brilliantly fascinating photography mechanics.
In addition, Captured By Kai Portraits offers event services for courthouse weddings, short elopements, birthday parties, and corporate events.

Widely regarded also as a freelance photographer and social media assistant, Pittman initially adopted photography as a routine hobby, of sorts, for approximately four-to-five years before witnessing Captured By Kai Portraits officially go into operations in March 2025.
Much to her delight, her newly-established business endeavor is seemingly exceeding her expectations since it went full throttle approximately a year ago.

A native of Flower Mound, Pittman’s rise to entrepreneurial success comes amid humble beginnings, something she doesn’t merely take lightly.
“I lost my ability to work a normal job due to my extreme pain from arthritis in high school and became physically disabled and wheelchair bound,” Pittman told Making Headline News as part of its Salute To Women’s History Month 2026 celebration. “This took away my creativity and my life as I could no longer draw, paint, sew, or do any of my day-to-day hobbies such as biking or even walking to class.”
SOME OF KAI’S WORK

By all accounts, finding her fervent niche in photography has given way to Pittman steadfastly inheriting a renewed sense of meaning to life.
“With that, I found I could still be creative through photography and lessen the pain,” Pittman explained. “Starting a business helped me work up to walking again and being able to have a life. I have now been able to dedicate more and more of my time to the business and my clients as I get better.”

A rising business endeavor that mostly services individuals and groups ranging in ages 20-to-45, amongst the trends for which Pittman is especially grateful is the friendship and solid working rapports she routinely establishes as the face of Captured By Kai Portraits.
“I get to meet the kindest clients and form amazing relationships through repeat clientele that I would have never met through a day job,” Pittman told MHN. “I also get to explore new creative avenues every day and watch people create new lifelong memories.”

A credible photography venture that has made its presence felt throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, Pittman is hopeful Captured By Kai Portraits emerges as more of mobile endeavor outside of the Lone Star State.
In the meantime, however, this young, vibrant college undergraduate-turned-entrepreneur admittedly is devising ways to enhance a photography company that has been nothing short of impressive since its inception approximately a year ago.
“I hope to get to the point where I can have my own studio and be able to do this work full-time,” Pittman said. “My family has been my biggest supporters and the people who gave me my first camera.”
Fortunately for Pittman, she has gone to great lengths to put that camera to good use — as evidenced by the considerable amount of success she’s enjoying as the face of Captured By Kai Portraits.
How clever for someone who has yet to reach 20 years of age.
