The Teachers Appreciation Foundation will host its highly-anticipated 12th Annual TAF Awards Ceremony, the organization’s executive director Karim Muhammad told Making Headline News this week as part of its 2026 Essence Music Festival advance national coverage for “the party with a purpose” event July 3-5 in New Orleans.
Powered by TAF, the TAF Awards Ceremony is slated to take place July 30 at 6 p.m. CST at the Criterion, located at 500 East Sheridan Avenue in Oklahoma City.
A red carpet event will take approximately one hour prior to the ceremony.
“We look forward to honoring the dignitaries, educators, and supporting staff known as The Grammys for educators,” Muhammad told MHN. “We have grown since last year, adding on recipients from Arkansas, Los Angeles, and Atlanta to name a few.”
SALUTING MEN WHO SHAPE OUR WORLD

WHAT ABOUT TAF? https://www.taf5.org/

Muhammad established TAF in 2014.
Generally, the TAF Awards, he said, are endeavored to honor the dedicated individuals who play pivotal roles in shaping the future through education and support services.
“Administrators, teachers and staff interact with our children daily, playing a vital role in shaping their lives,” Muhammad said. “We seek out unique stories of individuals who not only make a lasting impact but are also champions of continuous personal growth.”
Interestingly enough, over the past decade, the TAF Awards have evolved into what organizers describe as a “premier celebration” coined as “The Grammys” for dignitaries, educators and supporting staff.
By all accounts, honorees will include a wide range of contributors in education, including — but not limited to — dignitaries, educators, custodians, school bus drivers, cafeteria workers, as well as counselors and administrators from across Oklahoma and around the globe.
