JESUS IS THE REASON

It was sometime in late Fall nearly six years ago.
As John Gary Dewberry vividly recalls, the annual Christmas season was effectively underway.
That, he recalls, is when something intriguingly captivating unfolded.
“I began to seriously consider writing my first book based on Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol,” Dewberry told Making Headline News. “When I began to assemble my characters, it was important to positively feature black families. It was then that my vision became clear within the interventions of the three ghosts of Christmas.”
And so it ultimately came to pass, the highly-anticipated debut of Maggiedocious Wordette’s Soul Sonnets Spoken Word Book, Dewberry’s featured written work that took roughly 13 months to assemble, according to the Atlanta-based author.

“The Ghost of Christmas Past took on a weight that I had not noticed in the movies concerning the Holy Spirit and personal redemption,” said Dewberry, further explaining his purpose for his first book. “I wanted my depiction of The Ghost of Christmas Past to carry the importance of redemption and recognition of the birth of redemption being Christmas.”
Moreover, it also helped that Dewberry’s wife has composed a poem entitled, POWER which, as far as he was concerned, had subsequently heightened his interest in writing a book.
“In the process of reading the poem, the Lord inspired me to incorporate poetic themes into the female ghost, who became The Ghost of Christmas Past,” Dewberry recalls.

According to this accomplished writer, Maggiedocious is a name he coined amid what he describes as “well-done” female mannequins during his notable retail sales career.
Wordette, Dewberry explained, is a play on the street slang phrase, “word up.”
Meanwhile, this character, he said, was born to speak in poetry form during her intervention with the Black Ebenezer Scrooge of his book, Hang All The Mistletoe.
“The Lord inspired me to expand that chapter into a standalone book of Maggiesocious poetry along with her talk about a variety of subjects,” Dewberry said.
A book that is accompanied by 140 pages and is powered by Dr. LaQuita Parks’ Atlanta-based Pa-Pro-Vi Publishing LLC, Dewberry’s Maggiedocious Wordette’s Soul Sonnets Spoken Word Book is available at https://mycybermap.com/ and where books are sold.
“Welcome to Maggiedocious Wordette’s Soul Sonnets, a Black Girl Magic Poetry Slam connecting rhythm-to-rhyme, woman-to-woman, with men cheering on the sidelines,” said a spokesperson for Dewberry’s featured book via Amazon.com. “Write-on. She is The Ghost of Christmas Past, a key to the future, a gift that keeps on giving. She’s moving, she’s grooving, wrapping until the music book stops now, Yeah!
“Maggiedocious is an open book. If you look, she jumped out of the pages of the Christmas book, Hang All The Mistletoe. Meet The Black Ebenezer, shining bright like the North Star. She is the Queen of yesterday’s dreams…so pretty her skin glows and Afro flows, shaped like Africa her body goes, when she speaks it’s always in prose.”
When asked what the single, most underlying reason was he elected to compose Maggiedocious, Dewberry said:
“I love Christmas and remember the commercial pressure that overtook me to provide gifts. These feelings became what Christmas was all about and the redemption factor was getting drowned out when the leaves fell off the trees.”
In a nutshell, Dewberry was destined to provide another point of view and a variety of ways to celebrate Christmas or, as he especially acknowledged, to appreciate the gift of Jesus Christ.
“Christmas is Joy To The World and the New Testament of our Savior Jesus Christ,” Dewberry told MHN. “Although Christmas comes but once a year, it shapes our daily lives, whether you believe in it or not.
“The Lord works in mysterious ways. His wonders never cease. I believe there is an underlying common denominator of joyful spirit within each Soul Sonnet (in this book). Soul will define the afro-centric approach to each theme and Soul will describe the reach and feel of God.”
