Sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth. (Psalm 96:1 NIV)
4-GOD BE THE GLORY
Above far as the above Biblical passage goes, Jimmy Orlando Gathers, Jr. spiritual resume is such that he customarily sings unto the Lord a new song.
Or, in his case, he raps, too.
“Aside from being in the music industry, on a personal level, it’s more about my family’s legacy,” Gathers, during a recent interview with Making Headline News, said, explaining the awe-inspiring events that have greatly afforded him the golden opportunity to function in his element. “Let me elaborate.”
Alright, then.
Have at it.
“Not only am I a musician…personally, I’m also a black man who’s not only trying to get beyond racial barriers, but I’m also trying to break generational curses that so many other black men in the black community face by not leaving an inheritance for the family and extended families.”
Given the immeasurable strides Gathers have made in recent years as a giftedly talented entertainer, it’s safe to assume his best and brightest days are well ahead of him in this, an ever-so-competitive music industry.

Widely known amongst his peers as “Jay Gathers” — which is accompanied by the nickname, “4G” — Gathers is the CEO and Founder of GrandMaster Entertainment LLC, his Panama City, Florida-based company that has come full circle amid his more than 15 years in the music entertainment arena.
Widely regarded as an accomplished gospel hip-hop and Christian hip-hop recording artist, what’s so intriguing about 4G’s achievements is that he’s going to great lengths to help advance the kingdom in ways unimaginable.
Credit the fact that he’s steadfastly on fire for God as arguably the grandest reasons why.
Because, after all, even aside from having evolved as a fixture in the Body of Christ, 4G doesn’t shy away from the notion that only what you do for Christ will last.
“(I love) providing great music, great entertainment, and giving people the message of the gospel,” said 4G, a native of Apalachicola, Florida. “More importantly, it blesses me to see people’s lives changed, because they can relate to the transparency in my music.”
A 1993 graduate of Panama City’s Bay High School, 4G earned his undergraduate degree from Florida State University. Prior to that, he was enrolled at Gulf Coast State College in Panama City, where he earned General Associate of Arts and Associate of Science Degrees in Fire Science, which ultimately gave way to his becoming a certified fire fighter.
While 4G is fully aware that knowledge is power, music has always been his primary passion.
In fact, 4G’s musical gifts, by all accounts, are a part of the divine purpose for which he was created.
How else to explain why he’s had the luxury of working alongside some of the gospel music industry’s finest and most prominent personalities?
“I’ve had the pleasure of collaborating with two-time Stellar award winner Canton Jones,” said 4G, calling off names of gospel celebs as if he’s handing out diplomas. “He’s actually featured on four projects off my newly released album entitled, ‘Unqualified.’ “I also have collaborations with Mr. Del (previously of Three Six Mafia) and Born Divine of the Wu Tang Family.”
Wait. There’s more.
“I also have projects produced by well- known producers who’ve produced for other mainstream artists such as Supa Cool — Kevin Gates, Gucci Mane, Shaquille O’Neal — and Lady Trauma (Missy Elliot),” 4G said.
“I’ve appeared twice on Bobby Jones Presents in Nashville, appeared on America’s Got Anointing (The Word Network) in Atlanta, performed the last two years at showcases in Las Vegas during the Stellar Awards, was an opening act for Le’Andria Johnson in Charlotte, appeared on the front cover of Soul Central Magazine (March, 2019 Edition), the front cover of Gospel USA Magazine (October, 2019 Edition), won the 2019 Holy Hip-Hop artist of the Year award in North Carolina.”
Hold up. He’s still not finished disclosing of his laundry list of accolades.
“I’ve been nominated for numerous other (awards) to include as the V.O.G.M.A., Steeple Awards, and Soul Central Awards,” said 4G, who has been the beneficiary of ongoing media coverage and exposure.
As for the upcoming New Year, 4G is overwhelmingly enthused, in large part because greater is on the way, he said.
“(The year) 2020 is looking very promising as I’m planning more musical events at major churches in bigger markets, radio interviews, recording more visuals and music videos, recording and releasing more new music, etc.,” 4G said.
HOLDIN’ IT DOWN
For what it’s worth, 4G emphasized, among other things, that his primary objective is to glorify God through his musical gifts, all the while leaving a last impression as a result.
“As stated in Proverbs 13:22, a good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children, but the sinner’s wealth is laid up for the righteous,” 4G said. “When my father died years ago, he didn’t leave anything behind financially that I — as his son — could be proud of. That feeling that I felt during that time in my life is one I never want my sons and daughters to feel. That is what propels me daily in my business venture.”
Eloquently stated by a giftedly talented child of God, whose spiritual resume is such that he customarily sings unto the Lord a new song.
Or, in his case, raps, too.
