**BEND-BUT-DON’T-BREAK FAITH —** In 2007, Bedford was placed in Lancaster, California through the Victims of Crime program during which she was hidden as a strategic way to rebuild her life after suffering through domestic violence for a span of 11 years.

Behind the valiant support of her husband, Alvin Bedford, Tinequa Bedford emphasized, among other things, that Damaged Goods Organization Inc. realizes abuse takes place in many forms, a trend that strategically reinforces why its services are inclusive, particularly as it relates to giving victims back their power and control that the perpetrator is on a mission to have.

For instance, according to National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, one in every four women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime and an estimated 1.3 million women are victims of physical assault by an intimate partner each year.

Also, the NCADC cites that 85 percent of domestic violence victims are women and that society and cultures have stopped men from coming forward.

“While we assist with all areas of abuse with emphasis on physical, emotional, verbal, mental and psychological, financial, cultural, sexual, our primary focus is domestic violence,” Bedford said.

Once deemed a self-proclaim “broken victim,” Bedford said the startup of Damaged Goods Organization, Inc. was essential in large part because it has helped bring about a sense of healing and deliverance.

This conference will consist of workshops and a host of speakers from around the country, some of whom have established their own nonprofit domestic violence-based organizations, Bedford said.

“(This conference will feature) testimonial speakers (who are) survivors,” Bedford said. “The goal of the conference is to bring awareness especially, to the Body of Christ.”
