But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our inequities. The chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed. (Isaiah 53:5 KJB)
A TRUE LIFE SAVER
For Cornita Cole, the overall landscape of her life had changed a little more than two years ago.
Still, God was there from the outset.
“(It was in early) 2021 after my daughter contracted kidney disease and I had become a living kidney donor,” said Cole, during an interview this week with Making Headline News, recalling when she had grasped the vision to produce her first book. “Surgery was in August 2021.”
In the wake of her daughter’s medical diagnosis, Cole had become greatly inspired to compose A New Kidney For Mom: Medical Tales For Small People, her highly-anticipated written work that made its official debut in April 2023.

Comprised of 34 pages in length, Cole’s A New Kidney For Mom: Medical Tales For Small People vividly recalls how mom can’t make snowmen with Penelope because she’s not feeling well.
In a nutshell, mom needs a kidney transplant, according to detailed breakdown of Cole’s new book at Amazon.com.
“At first, Penelope had no idea what that means,” said an Amazon spokesperson for Cole’s A New Kidney For Mom: Medical Tales For Small People. “What is a kidney and why do we need it? What does it look like? What might happen to mom? Is there anything she can do to help? With her dad’s help, Penelope learns about this important organ and finds a way to help her mom prepare for her operation.

“A New Kidney For Mom looks at kidney transplants from a child’s perspective, helping young readers understand the key concepts in a warm and comforting way. Drawing on her own personal experience, Cornita Cole weaves a delightful tale of family compassion that will educate and reassure children about kidney transplant operations and the life-saving kidney pairing exchange program.”
As part of MHN’s advance coverage of Bishop T. D. Jakes’ International Leadership Summit May 4-6 in Orlando, Cole spoke at length about what was the single, most underlying reason she had become greatly inspired to produce her newly-released book, which is foreword by Augusta, Georgia-based nephrologist, Dr. Sharica Brookins.
BE HEALED IN JESUS’ NAME
“This inspiration led to Medical Tales For Small Children, a series of short stories based on real people dealing with medical trauma that affects the lives of children and their loved ones,” Cole explained. “These books provide education, support, and strategies to get through some sensitive times. All books are blessed with a foreword from a medical professional. A New Kidney For Mom is the first in an upcoming series of children’s books. Stay tuned for the next book in the series.”
An awe-inspiring book she began writing in December 2021 — “shortly after healing as a living kidney donor,” she recalls — Cole completed her published masterpiece approximately two months later.
By all accounts, her rise to becoming a first-time published author comes amid arguably the darkest season of her life.
“I became a caretaker in February 2022 and lost my partner in May 2022, which paused my support and work towards my project,” Cole told MHN. “I am a caretaker and a provider at heart. My strength is accepting reality and living through the process of any transition, which God puts in front of me. Whether it is me or someone around me, I assess the situation, then create lessons learned and share information that I went through to help others. My granddaughter inspired me.”

Since word spread of the forthcoming release of her first book, Cole has become the beneficiary of a rash of rave reviews.
“I have received great feedback and celebratory support for bringing this type of book to the market,” Cole said. “I have been contacted by a health institution to present my book series and do scheduled readings back on the book launch dates. I am waiting on confirmation before I announce who they are. Fingers crossed.”
Other books, Cole said, are on the horizon, most notably, Holding Grandpa’s Hand Through Cancer Treatment (expected to be released in May 202), Mommy Baby Bump Needs Special Care (expected to be released in June 2023), and a book that will shine the spotlight on Alzheimer’s, grief, autism, and diabetes, she said.
“I am working on an adult book series on self-help and spiritual growth,” said Cole, referring to her upcoming project entitled, Back Up Ego, I Got This.”
Having made a recent appearance on “Spotlight Over The City,” a Washington, D.C.-area internet radio and TV show, Cole in September 2021 was interviewed by Washington, D.C.’s Fox 5 alongside her daughter following the kidney surgery and transplant.
As for her newly-produced book, Cole said:
“I wrote from personal experience as I became part of a four-family kidney sharing swap in an organ pairing exchange program when my daughter contracted kidney disease. Inspired by my granddaughter, I saw a need to both teach and comfort children who might be going through a similar situation.”
Even in the midst of what undoubtedly was a life-altering experience, she’s fully persuaded that God was there from the outset.
