But may the God of all grace, Who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. (1 Peter 5:10/NKJV)
VICTORIOUS REGARDLESS
DALLAS — As Tanasha N. Friar vividly recalls, it all started in increments.
“God gave me the vision in increments,” Friar, during an interview this week with Making Headline News, said, recalling the memorable developments surrounding her latest authorship adventure. “There were poems written years ago, then some within the same year that it was published.
“It was interesting how some of the words just flowed to my thoughts at different times. I had to stop whatever I was doing and write them down. I speak about the process a little in the afterword.”

The “words” to which Friar is alluding have eloquently graced the pages of Gracefully Broken: A Poetry Compilation of Love, Heartache & Triumph, this Dallas/Fort Worth-based author’s featured written work that made its ceremonious debut in February 2021.
As part of Making Headline News’ advance coverage of Sarah Jakes Roberts’ inaugural Woman Evolve Conference September 14-16 from Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, Friar spoke at length about how her mother suggested she install her remarkably brilliant poems in the form of a book.
“She, along with a couple of other people (suggested I write this book),” Friar told MHN. “My mother passed before it was completed. Therefore, I was determined to get it published in her honor, and I really believe it was divinely led.”

Suitably regarded as Friar’s debut poetry medley, this gifted author appropriately writes of superficial love, self-reflections in dark spaces, and spiritual growth, according to a detailed synopsis of her book via Amazon.com. “This original compilation of poems is divided into five parts, demonstrating the struggles of one’s awareness through trauma, and forgiveness. It is a journey of healing simultaneously through grief and agape love,” said an Amazon spokesperson for Friar’s Gracefully Broken: A Poetry Compilation of Love, Heartache & Triumph.
As Friar recalls, it was sometime in 2019 that she began composing a Gracefully Broken: A Poetry Compilation of Love, Heartache & Triumph book that has been as good as advertised since its official release.
“I began compiling some of my previously written poems together in 2019,” Friar, a native of San Antonio, said. “I self-published the book in 2021, but in between that time, there were many poems written regarding the title choice. I believe God used one of my creative talents to convey to others that healing is necessary, and it will come. You just have to be patient with yourself.”
Friar’s Gracefully Broken: A Poetry Compilation of Love, Heartache & Triumph comes after the release of Gracefully Broken, her first written work that appropriately fueled her desire to produce her 107-page sophomore book.
GREATER IS COMING
“My book speaks about the superficial love and heartbreak of relationships, to the deepest heartbreak of grief, to being comforted, divinely loved and led by God, to finding peace,” Friar said of her latest published works. “My hope was to convey this in poetry form per each of the five sections.”
Mission accomplished for this brilliant Texas-born writer, who has become the beneficiary of a rash of favorable feedback since the release of latest project.
“My book isn’t for everyone,” Friar said. “It is for a targeted group of women who may have had similar experiences in life. Therefore, the feedback has been positive and supportive. I have had people inbox me to let me know that they’ve enjoyed the poems and were glad to know that someone else could relate.”
A third book, Friar said, is forthcoming, although there is no timetable for its release.
“It’s not in poetry form at this time though,” she said.
FROM PAIN TO PURPOSE
Continued Friar, who felt inspired to add an excerpt from Gracefully Broken: A Poetry Compilation of Love, Heartache & Triumph:
“We all have to find ways to handle the tragedies. We have to be grounded in self-awareness. Otherwise, you can remain lost. We have to be patient with ourselves. I find my comfort in prayer, even if it’s short and sweet. Since I’ve written these poems, they’ve made the list too. I do hope that maybe one of them will touch the innermost part of you.”
Thank God for the increments.
