I will praise thee, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Marvellous are thy works, and that my soul knoweth right well. (Psalm 139:14/KJV)
BEAUTY FOR ASHES
To her distinctly unique credit, Shakela Matthews was blessed to have made her authorship debut in Summer 2023.
The title of her highly-anticipated published masterpiece: Beautiful Brokenness: Redefine Your Beauty By Breaking Through Emotional Roadblocks, Elevating Your Mind With A Renewed Mindset, and Evolving In God’s Divine Purpose.
During a recent interview with Making Headline News as part of its Women’s History Month national coverage, Matthews, an Atlanta faith-based writer, emphasized, among other things, Beautiful Brokenness is more than just words on paper.
“It’s a beacon of hope, a guide to your journey of healing and renewal,” Matthews said, explaining the divine message surrounding her awe-inspiring written work. “Within the pages, you’ll find the power to mend the wounds of unsuccessful relationships, and to rediscover the priceless treasure of your worth.”

A native of Atlanta, Matthews said God strategically instilled within her the vision to compose her first book sometime “2021 or 22.”
Much to her delight, Beautiful Brokenness has emerged as a massive thing of beauty.
Accompanied by 128 pages, Matthews’ Beautiful Brokenness vividly helps her readers to begin healing by refocusing on themselves, according to a detailed synopsis of this writer’s book via Amazon.com.
In essence, Matthews goes to great length to show the masses how to use their pain to push them into their purpose, silence that inner critic, and become who God created you to be.
“This book was written to encourage you to heal from that unsuccessful relationship, claim your worth, move past your fears, and receive the freedom that our gracious God has given to each of you,” said an Amazon spokesperson for Matthews’ Beautiful Brokenness. “You can reclaim what’s yours. You can’t succeed if you never put action to moving forward. Putting action brings your goals to fruition and turns your adversities around. You must be willing to take action and move forward.”
Added Matthews via Amazon:
“Sis, I’m proud of you because I know what you are going through is hard, but I’m cheering for you. This is tough, but remember you are tougher. You’ve got this! Divorce is undoubtedly a difficult experience, but it can present an opportunity to embrace your changing reality, reclaim control over your life, and create a fulfilling future. Let me hold that mirror for you so that you can see you. You, my dear, are beautiful, and you are enough! You are flawsome…yes flawed, but still awesome. So, join me in re-introducing the world to the new you!”
Matthews began producing her new book sometime in 2022 and completed it in time for its ceremonious release last Summer.
She’s since become the beneficary of slew of favorable feedback.
“I’ve been told that women of all ages, walks of life, and relationship status need to read it,” Matthews told MHN. “I’ve also been told that it forces you to do self-reflection and helps to start your healing journey. Lastly, one reader told me that reading the book helped her to realize that she is not alone in what she’s experienced relationally. The book is proof that divorce does not have to be a death sentence and that it doesn’t have to be looked at as being a failure because it can be one of the greatest teachers.”
In other words, Matthews stressed, “Embrace the journey of moving beyond fear, for in that journey lies your liberation. As you turn each page, may you find the courage to confront your fears head-on and emerge stronger, braver, and more resilient than ever before. Let the wisdom within these chapters guide you as you embrace the shifting sands of your reality. Change is inevitable, but it is also the gateway to growth and transformation. Embrace it with open arms, for within change lies the seeds of your most fulfilling future.”

Nearly one year removed from having launched her first book, other written works are on the horizon, Matthews said.
“Yes, I plan to write other books. Right now, I am currently finishing up a working journal and plan to have it published by August 2024,” she said.
Matthews’ itinerary includes her being a featured speaker during forthcoming annual The Broken, Bound But Becoming Healing Summit, Brandy Nicole’s empowerment assembly that will take place April 27 at Atlanta’s Clayton State University.
In addition, she has a scheduled speaking engagement during the Empower Her Summit in Texas.
BLESSED LIKE THAT
Said Matthews when asked in what ways Beautiful Brokenness align with her godly purpose:
“I believe that my book is part of the purpose for which God created me because it allows me to utilize the resilience He has instilled within me to empower and support women on their journey of personal growth and healing. God made me resilient so that I could navigate life’s challenges and obstacles, not only for my benefit but also to uplift and inspire others.
“Through coaching, I have the opportunity to be a vessel for God’s love and guidance, helping women tap into their strength and transform their lives. This book serves as a tool to share His light and wisdom, guiding readers toward wholeness and fulfillment in alignment with God’s divine plan.”
