For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. (Jeremiah 29:11)
BEAUTY FOR ASHES

Lardell L. Spratt undoubtedly had become a fixture in the streets.
So much so that his rash of transgressions would ultimately land him in prison for a considerable amount of time.
That was the bad news.
The good news?
Spratt, during his lengthy incarceration, would eventually grasp what could be appropriately described as some “spiritual intuition,” of sorts.

“I received the spiritual intuition about my book while incarcerated,” Spratt, during an interview this week with Making Headline News, said, recalling the assortment of developments surrounding the production of his first book. “But I knew that I couldn’t write it until after I gained parole and experienced life outside of prison.”
And so it ultimately came to pass, the highly-anticipated release of his memoir, Up From Ashes: The Streets, Prison, and Redemption, Spratt’s featured written work that, much to his delight, is as good as advertised.

Suitably known as Coach Dell, Spratt’s Up From Ashes: The Streets, Prison, and Redemption vividly chronicles how this Detroit-area author’s mother — who was victimized by sexual trauma and abuse as a child — was an active addict who was extremely violent and abusive towards him during his youth, according to a detailed synopsis of his initial book via Amazon.com.
“Growing up, I, in turn, used that same violence toward others, which culminated in my committing the crimes of homicide and felony firearm as a teenager in 1987,” Spratt writes via Amazon. “I was ultimately found guilty and served nearly two decades within the Michigan Department of Corrections. I finally gained parole in 2006, and I’ve never returned. I can proudly say that I’m happily married, and we own our home as well.”
Having made its ceremonious release in May 2024, Spratt emphasized, among other things, the 150-page Up From Ashes: The Streets, Prison, and Redemption is designed in large part to inspire others by showing that, “No matter how broken your life may seem, you can rise above your past and create a life of purpose, healing, and redemption.”

An esteemed master life coach, licensed social service tech, certified peer support specialist, trauma informed speaker, as well as a personal credit coach, Spratt began the legwork for Up From Ashes: The Streets, Prison, and Redemption in 2020 and needed approximately three years to assemble a book that, to his credit, has emerged as a massive must-read.
For his valiant authorship efforts, he has garnered the International Impact Book Award, as well as the Story Trade Book Award.
“(Up From Ashes endeavors) to plant seeds of hope and identity within urban children, reminding them of the greatness within that God placed there so they grow, knowing they are loved, powerful, and destined to win despite life’s challenges and setbacks,” Spratt told MHN. “My books are part of God’s purpose because they turn my pain into hope for others, teach faith and resilience, break generational cycles, and create a legacy that glorifies Him and empowers lives beyond my own.”
LEADING BY EXAMPLE

Besides Up From Ashes, Spratt earlier this year witnessed the ceremonious release of When The Boy Who Never Won, Wins It All, his 30-page, sophomore published gem that empowers children the value of kindness, gratitude, and the riches of the human spirit, according to a thorough breakdown via Amazon.
A non-denominational ordained elder who has been led to initiate the Fellowship Of Yeshua Ministry, Spratt said Book No. 3 is forthcoming.
“My third book will address at length the differences between religion and spirituality,” Spratt said.
