Arguably the darkest chapter of Doreen Allen’s life happened some 12 years ago.
The year was 2005, the year that changed the overall landscape of Allen’s life.
That was the year in which Allen had to bury her beloved daughter, Tiana Allen, a youngster who was armed an array of potential and much promise, a young angel who was dealt a tragic death well before her time.
For Allen, losing her daughter was way too difficult to stomach as expected.
“I was struggling with her death and needed a way to cope with the loss,” Allen told Making Headline News during a weekend interview.
So much, in fact, that Allen admittedly had toyed immensely with the concept revisiting what undoubtedly was a tear-jerking, discomforting season in her life.
Nevertheless, she sensed that because of the divine calling upon her life, that God was positioning and empowering her to share of her daughter’s legacy through her gift as a writer.
“I toyed with the idea of writing my past, but didn’t take it seriously until this time,” Allen said.
To her distinctly unique credit, Allen’s God-orchestrated vision involved her coming up with a character, of sorts, and naming her after her daughter.
Talk about a remarkably beautiful concept.
“This would be my way of keeping her alive in my heart,” Allen said.

A longtime Philadelphia-based educator, Allen is the mastermind behind her dazzlingly compelling book series entitled, “The Tiana and Briana Series.”
Having credited her unyielding love for God, children, and writing, Allen’s gifts and talents had subsequently merged together in the tale of her inspiring books.
Her first book, “Tiana and Briana: The Problem With Ms. Perfect,” officially hit the market in 2015 and was a success in her eyes, in large because she accomplished what she set out to do, which was to keep Tiana’s memory in the life of all who knew and loved her.
Then approximately a year later, Allen produced “Tiana and Briana: Will the Real Rosa Please Stand Up”, another reading audience pleaser that was published and released in 2016 by Collegeville, Pennsylvania native.
Having witnessed her God-manifested assignment soar to immense heights, Allen then wrote “Tiana and Briana: Green With Envy,” which is scheduled to be officially released this summer.
A little more than two years removed from having fully embraced her vision for putting on display her daughter’s loving memory, Allen acknowledged that a fourth book is presently in the works and will be released in the foreseeable future.

“The message I want to get across to my readers is that our life here on earth and among the living is to help one another,” said Allen, sounding more and more confident as she continues to fortify her long-awaited vision.
By and large, given how Allen recalls her daughter’s legacy, it’s safe to assume that long before her untimely demise, Tiana was one who was widely known for steadfastly esteeming others highly than herself.
“Tiana and Briana are always helping people,” Allen explained. “They help people heal from hurts and teach others to make right choices.”
Interesting enough, Allen composed her written documents in a way in which children from various walks of life would become easily drawn to the life of her beloved angel through reading.
“These books are for those children that can read but don’t like to read.” Allen said. “They aren’t too lengthy, but the story line captures the readers’ interest and opens their minds to explore other books, leading to them reading more and for longer periods of time.”
A little more than 12 years from having to bid her daughter farewell, Allen doesn’t shy away from the notion that it is by God’s grace that Tiana accompanies her daily in the center of her heart, all while simultaneously resting in the arms of Jesus.
“God knew I was going to go through a terrible loss and He turned a loss into a blessing through writing,” Allen said. “This book is part of my purpose while here on earth. Writing stories that involve (Tiana) helped me heal and to always remember her.”
All while continuing to change the overall landscape of her life in the process.
