MEMPHIS — For many individuals, social media is mostly described as pure entertainment.
For Angie Steele, in many cases, it has become a monumental way of life.
Amongst the reasons of that not only has Steele, an accomplished Mid-South-area businesswoman, enjoyed sustained success, but that she has become a fixture in this ever-so-popular social media world is benefiting her mightily in the process.
So much, in fact, that Steele has been afforded the golden opportunity to add to her already immeasurable entrepreneurship repertoire, considering she is in the running to win the New Face Of Pink Contest.
Powered by Luster’s Pink, Steele, a native of Memphis, recently thrust her name in this contest by “simply being on social media,” she said.
A Memphis Westwood High School alum, Steele is an avid vlogger for her Let’s Talk Vlog with Angie Steele Live that airs frequently on Facebook. In addition, she is a regular follower and longtime supporter of a variety of companies, most notably Luster’s.
Which, in her case, makes all of the sense in the world to enter a contest whereby this longtime professional cosmetologist essentially has garnered some homefield advantage, of sorts, now that the voting phase is underway.

“I saw the campaign and hopped right on it to sign up,” Steele told Making Headline News this week.
The Face Of Pink Contest was spearheaded via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Voting began back on April 3 and ends on August 12 at 11:59 p.m. CST.
The winners’ names will be selected by public voters, by Luster’s Pink, as well as its affiliates (or influencer partners), according to a summary of the rules at www.newfaceofpink.com.
The grand prize winner will walk away $1,000 and will become the beneficiary of a makeover photo shoot in Chicago and will be featured as a Luster’s Pink Model sometime in 2018.
Also, the grand prize winner will receive a three month’s supply of Luster’s Pink products.
When asked how does her craft and professionalism as a cosmetologist stands out above others in this industry, Steele said, “Wow…great question! I believe my craft stands out in the salon industry and sits well with my clients and those who learn of me, because I follow the code of professionalism. Trends are great and I do follow some, but what’s most important is hair care.
“I’m very particular about the products I use in my clients’ hair and the chemicals used in them. It’s important for me to stay on top of understanding my client needs. They seem to appreciate me more and feel valued.”
And because she routinely goes above and beyond to steadfastly put her clients first as well as exceed their expectations, she is hopeful her strongest supporters will, in turn, hasten to the internet and vote on her behalf to win a remarkable contest of lifetime.
“This contest is a testament to my hard work because this would be the ultimate form of, ‘You’ve arrived,’” Steele said. “To be featured for a major product line would reset the stage…not set it. I’ve been in the industry for 16 years and people do know me. But this platform would be a launcher to show others they can do anything. Hair stylist work hard to gain clients and followers so again, this would show I stuck with it and by sticking with it good things happen.”
So if she emerges as the grand prize winner…
“I give honor to God,” said Steele, when asked to finish that sentence. “More so, if I win, this feature would help to not live selfishly to put $1,000 in my pocket, but to pay it forward toward my yearly hair camp for girls that focus on self-esteem and seldom acceptance called Camp S.A.S.E.”
Typical Angie Steele, a true, devoted ambassador to her community and the Mid-South.
