Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord. (1 Corinthians 15:58 NKJV)
MIGHTY MAN OF VALOR
DALLAS — Fortunately for Derrick L. Faggétt, the golden opportunity had suddenly arisen.
And, for a man who’s proven to be after God’s own heart, he did the most logical thing he sensed was in his best interest.
He seized the opportunity to put his immeasurable gifts on display.
“I started my own business in the year of 2015,” Faggétt, during an interview this week from Los Angeles with Making Headline News, said, recalling the awe-inspiring developments that led to his having delved off into the world of authorship. “And as part of building a rapport with my clientele, I would share my testimony — a.k.a. my why I decided to do something different…outside the box.
“As I begin to share my story around the country, I would always get various individuals expressing that I should share my story with a broader audience and or consider writing a book,” Faggétt continued.
And the rest, as they say, was history.

It wasn’t long thereafter that Faggétt’s authorship debut would ultimately come full circle.
A native of Chicago, Faggétt has joined a gallery of writers to collectively assemble “Soul Talk Volume 3: Soul-Stirring Stories of People Who Let Go and Let God,” an intriguing and spiritually-empowering anthology that is spearheaded by longtime philanthropist and multi-bestselling author Cheryl Polote-Williamson.
As Faggétt explained, he initially was introduced to the concept of becoming a co-author for Soul Talk Volume 3 approximately two years.
“I guess in a nutshell, that was God’s way of telling me that I had permission, but it simmered for years until 2018,” Faggétt said. “The opportunity came knocking and I answered.”
For what it’s worth, the opportunistic Faggétt is giddy of that fact that he subsequently obeyed the Voice of God, a demonstration of faith that has given way to his having addressed in Soul Talk Volume 3 the subject entitled, “The Male-Man.”
“My message is that fatherlessness is a symptom of a bigger problem,” said Faggétt, who needed only three months to assemble his chapter. “This problem is their falling away from God‘s principles for the family and (fail to understand) what it means to be a kingdom man, or how to take steps to get the family back in God’s order.”
Interestingly, while Faggétt was raised without a father in the home, he still appropriately hints that notion shouldn’t merely deter the male to assume his rightful place in the home and in the Body of Christ.
“I would have to say the issue of growing up without my father,” said Faggétt, explaining why he elected to address such a pertinent subject. “(I wrote it because of) how many other men that I’ve had the opportunity to speak with who’ve been effected by fatherlessness, but don’t understand how to correct it generationally. Since most men are not at a healthy place to discuss it openly, I felt in some ways that since I went through it as well, someone needed to do something before it gets worse.”
The feedback, as expected, has been mostly favorable, Faggétt said.
“I have received very positive feedback — from men and women,” he said. “For example, (they’ve said) this is something that we need and that ‘We need more men like you who will speak the truth or admit there is a problem.’”
Now that Faggétt’s authorship tenure is underway, he has announced that he’s open to participate in any type of courses and or curriculum, most notably sessions that would center on helping or aiding in the behavioral changes for men.
“(We all can) agree that this conversation needs to take place,” said Faggétt, who recently established an organization known as Men of Fortitude. “Men have reached out asking how to get started or what can I do to get better or what steps can (they) take now.”
Aside from his newly-established organization, Faggétt has a few scheduled podcasts over the next few months during which he will promote his latest endeavor as an author.
“My plan is to acquire more speaking engagements as it pertains to helping men understand how to be men through Men and Fathers 101,” Faggétt said.
AUTHOR AMELIA E. FAGGETT
Faggétt’s wife, Amelia E. Faggétt, is also an accomplished writer, one whose book that’s geared toward individuals with special needs will be officially released this during Super Bowl weekend in Miami.
“Parenting a special needs child is definitely a challenge, which is part of my blessing,” said Amelia Faggétt, who spent better part of a decade to assemble her book entitled, Life With A Special Needs Child. “Not many can do it. I didn’t think I could. I’ve had good days as well as bad days, but more smiles than tears throughout my journey with my daughter, Melany.
“She’s had more surgeries before age three than most would have in a lifetime. If I can help the next parent or soon to be parents who has a special needs circumstance navigate through it better, then I’ve served my purpose. These are just a couple of reasons why I wrote this book and why it’s so important to share.”
