Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves. (Philippians 2:3 NIV)
MAKING AMAZING STRIDES
DALLAS — When it comes to enhancing and promoting her brand, Natasha Erwin is about uplifting and esteeming others, just as God’s manual encourages us to do so.
“My business allows me to help and uplift others in so many ways,” Erwin said during an interview this week with Making Headline News.
The business to which Erwin is alluding is her flourishing, thriving venture as the owner and CEO of NR Enterprise LLC, her Charlotte, North Carolina-based endeavor that has brought her a considerable amount of success.
Widely known as “Ms. I Set the Standards,” Erwin, 43, boasts a solid and diverse entrepreneurship repertoire whereby she functions as party host and emcee, as well as a promoter and speaker.

In addition, Erwin customarily provides networking opportunities, resources, events, and education through her venture known as Lady Boss networking organization. Lady Boss, in fact, is composed of female entrepreneurs and prospective entrepreneurs and, just recently, Erwin added vending machine services as the latest umbrella to the organization whereby she purchases and places machines as a convenience to the staff and clients of interested businesses.
A once high school dropout who eventually acquired her GED at 19 years of age, Erwin earned her Phlebotomy Certification from Thomas Healthcare Institute, then briefly attended Johnson C, Smith University, where she studied Criminology, although she withdrew due to the untimely death of her mother.
All things considered, though, Erwin has been blessed mightily to fulfill her awe-inspiring dream that’s centered around the ever-so-competitive world of entrepreneurship.
“As a host, I am the hype of the party,” Erwin said of immeasurable entrepreneurship gifts. “I am able to help others laugh and have a great time by interacting, singing, and just genuinely having a great time…often taking their minds off of other things. I often have customers and clients reach out to me and share that they come see me when their spirits need to be lifted. It is quite the honor. Lady Boss allows me to provide a platform for women to meet likeminded women, network, learn and build. To know that I am the bridge that connected like minds or provided information to assist with business needs is also a great feeling.”
Interestingly, Erwin said she came up with “I Set the Standards’ catchphrase as a strategic, effective way to allow me to share her God-given gifts with people from all walks of life.
“I speak to youth, churches, small business owners, etc., about how they can set the standards in their fields, homes, social lives and so on,” Erwin said. “As a promoter, I cater to mostly the old-school hip hop lovers. My desire to become a promoter was driven by my desire to hear the music I grew up on, the music that took me to my happy place.”
Born in Harlem, New York, but raised in Charlotte, Erwin is a mother of three children, all of whom inspired her greatly to move with a business stint that has given way to sustained success.
“My business started with the sales of T-shirts with my slogan on it,” Erwin recalls. “My shirts have been (sold) all over the country. I have spent the past year exploring a new direction in my business. I aspire to travel more and spread the ‘I Set the Standards’ message, as well as host and bring excitement to lives around the globe.”
In reality, she’s already doing just that, creating a fervent buzz surrounding her assortment of endeavors, all while impacting lives in the process.
“I Set The Standards,’ meaning creating your own level of excellence, minus seeking the acceptance of others,” Erwin said. “My goal is to provide a strong mindset to others with the I set the standards movement. As a host and promoter., my goal is to ensure my customers leave happier than they were prior to meeting me.”
For what it’s worth, what it all boils down to is devising ways to live in the moment, be happy, and provide a happy environment for others, Erwin emphasized.
Although the COVID-19 pandemic “has definitely put a damper on events for 2020,” Erwin said, she announced that her How To Be A Boss Entrepreneurial Fair is still scheduled to take place on October 10 at 1 p.m. EST. Also, she will be appearing her first stage play entitled, “The Bookclub,” which is scheduled to open September 5 in Charlotte. A second showing will take place on September 6 in Greensboro and tickets can be purchased at: www.JCIonline.org.
“The vending machine portion of the business will be run by my 17-year-old son and me,” Erwin said. “I want to help create the entrepreneur mindset and positive activity for him. During this pandemic, entertainment, and events, of course, have pretty much come to a halt. NRE strives to continue to serve the community. As we launch the vending machine portion of the business, we are also working on ways to continue networking, educating, and encouraging female entrepreneurs.”
