Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves. (Philippians 2:3 NIV)
SERVANT’S HEART
DALLAS — Although a spike in the coronavirus cases has left the start of school for thousands of Dallas/Fort Worth-area students hanging in the balance, local businesswoman Letitia Scott Jackson still is destined to be a blessing to them.
The founder and director of Keeping Families Connected, a DFW-based nonprofit venture Scott Jackson established a little more than five years ago, her organization on Saturday will host THE BOYZ N BLUE Backpack Giveaway, continuing an annual community-wide school event in which Scott Jackson and her team accommodate around 200 children with backpacks and other essential supplies.
The BOYZ N BLUE Backpack Giveaway will begin at 1 p.m. CST at Liberty Baptist Church, located at 219 Avenue A in Dallas.
An event that is powered by Keeping Families Connected, in conjunction with THE BOYZ N BLUE/LEADERS OF TOMORROW, Scott Jackson said approximately 100 backpacks will be given away to attendees on a first come, first serve basis.

In addition, Scott Jackson on Thursday told Making Headline News that Texas Representative Carl Sherman Sr. is expected to attend her organization’s latest event. A progressive businessman and civic leader who served two terms as mayor of the City of DeSoto, Texas, Sherman Sr. is a solid supporter of Keeping Families Connected.
On Thursday afternoon, thousands of Dallas ISD students learned they won’t be returning to classes in person on September 8. DISD Superintendent Michael Hinojosa announced his decision to only offer virtual instruction for at least the first month of school.
As for THE BOYZ N BLUE Backpack Giveaway, Scott Jackson said, “Whether students are doing virtual, in-home school, or in person, we want things to feel as normal as possible with all that’s going on in the world today.”
Scott emphasized the purpose for this backpack giveaway is centered largely on providing hope to families, particularly during what she describes as trying times.
“(We’re) hoping that our blessings will let the students know that there are some that still care, and we’re prayerfully taking a little of the burden off the parents,” Scott Jackson said. “We are community driven and are always giving back.”
Founded in 2015, the strategic mission of Keeping Families Connected is centered in large part on enriching the lives of young people, most notably through events, as well as by way of providing educational resources, mentoring, and counseling services.
“We believe that family matters most,” said a spokesperson for this thriving, flourishing nonprofit organization in a detailed overview at https://www.keepingfamilyconnected.org/.
BOYZ N BLUE, meanwhile, is a credible organization that is extension of Keeping Families Connected, which offers a mentorship program.
Through this program, youngsters are customarily being taught to “raise the standard and become our kings and leaders of our tomorrow,” Scott Jackson said.
Keeping Families Connected in recent years has hosted what is known as the Back To School Connect Fest during which the organization had given away backpacks and other supplies to approximately 200 children. Last year, more than 400 children were the beneficiaries of school supplies.
“We give because it’s a blessing to give,” Scott Jackson said.
