BLOWIN’ UP
Darryl Jovan Williams is steadily becoming a globally-acclaimed fixture at symphonies.
“I’m always excited to be asked to headline symphonies because I never dreamed that far,” Williams, a rising New York City-based singer, told Making Headline News this week.
Much to his credit, Williams’ improbable dreams are steadily becoming a reality, given he’s been afforded the golden opportunity to grace the platform to put his immeasurable skills on display.
Williams will headline the Aretha: A Tribute with Capathia Jenkins Friday night.

A Tribute to Franklin, who was famously known as the “Queen of Soul,” this program will feature Jenkins — who has been appropriately dubbed a festival favorite, and Williams, both of whom will be performing such iconic hits as “Respect,” “Think,” “A Natural Woman,” “Chain of Fools,” and “Amazing Grace,” among other songs.
For Williams whom, earlier this year, worked closely with renowned entertainer Michael Bublé, it’s safe to assume his stock as a singer continues to rise, in large part because he’s steadily becoming one of the symphony industry’s most sought-after vocalists.
STAR WATCH
“I had already done the Calgary Symphony and, since it went well, I’ve been asked to headline with Capathia in the Aretha Tribute,” Williams said of a Utah Symphony-hosted event that will also include performances by Baltimore Symphony, Seattle Symphony, Allentown (Penn.) Symphony, and the Chicago Symphony.
Heading into Friday’s appearance in Utah, Williams previously made his presence felt for The Calgary Philharmonic, as well as The Baltimore, Seattle, Allentown, and the Chicago Philharmonics.
Having become inspired by Kandi Burress, Tyler Perry, Shandra Rymes, and Denzel Washington to pursue his lofty ambitions in his chosen profession, Williams is steadily witnessing his flourishing career soar to immense heights.
Just recently, Williams was invited by The Houston Symphony to be the headliner and guest soloist for Maestro Steven Reineke (conductor for Carnegie Hall and New York Pops), during a July 4 celebration.
After Friday’s showing for the Aretha: A Tribute with Capathia Jenkins, Williams will debut the following week with the Chautauqua Symphony in Chautauqua, New York during its Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra: Aretha: A Tribute.
This event that will take place August 12, the Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra: Aretha: A Tribute is scheduled to begin at 7:30 pm at the historic Chautauqua Institution.
As Williams hinted, he’s just warming up.
“I am still headlining on cruise ships with my hit one man show called, ‘The Mind of A Tenor,’ which debuted in a residency on The MS Independence of the Seas 2021 and was lauded as one of the hit shows that ushered in the ‘Royal Comeback’ of cruise ship, Titan Royal Caribbean,” Williams said. “I will be debuting The Mind of a Tenor on Royal Caribbean’s The MS Explorer of the Seas.”
