And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And those He predestined, He also called, those He called, He also justified. Those He justified, He also glorified. What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? (Romans 8:28-31/NIV)
JOURNEY WORTH EMBRACING

For what it’s worth, Fairren McLemore vividly recalls like yesterday how God miraculously planted a seed in her heart, one that would ultimately alter the overall landscape of her life by way of Shining Through: My Journey With Incontinentia Pigmenti, her featured authorship project that has emerged as a massive must-read since its ceremonious release.
“God planted the seed for Shining Through in my heart back in 2015 when my daughter was born,” McLemore told Making Headline News as part of its national media coverage in commemorating Women’s History Month March 1-31. “At the time, I was simply writing down my experiences, never realizing that they would one day take the form of a book.”
And what a riveting, masterful published gem it has become.
A relatively short read that is comprised of 24 pages, McLemore’s Shining Through: My Journey With Incontinentia Pigmenti is a heartwarming children’s book about an eight-year-old little girl named Miah, who was born with a rare skin condition that has impacted her life, according to detailed synopsis of this Fort Wayne, Indiana-based author’s book via Amazon.com.

Generally, this book chronicles her physical symptoms and the tests she gets regularly, and it also describes her developmental delays. Moreover, this condition occurs mostly in females and is lethal in males.
“It is passed from mother to daughter but if passed to male, the pregnancy is likely to end in a miscarriage,” said an Amazon spokesperson for McLemore’s Shining Through: My Journey With Incontinentia Pigmenti. “Her mother does not have this gene and her a father cannot pass it to her. How was she born with it?
“There are many questions that run through her parents’ minds since her mom had an amazing pregnancy without any complications. With much research and education and many different doctors’ appointments, it has helped her parents ensure Miah is able to get the best care. Miah’s parents learn how unique she is, and they are extremely proud of her ability to stand out and very proud of who she is becoming. She demonstrates self-love, acceptance, and perseverance. Being different is not something to be ashamed of, embracing your uniqueness is powerful.”

As McLemore explained, her featured book, by all accounts, is an ideal way to process her journey, her emotions, thus a strategic, effective way to stomach the assortment of life-altering lessons that surfaced in her life to challenge her faith.
“But in 2023, I felt a divine nudge to turn this story into a children’s book, a way to share this message of self-love, resilience, and embracing differences with the world,” McLemore told MHN. “Looking back, I see how God was preparing me all along, shaping my experiences into something that could uplift and inspire others.”
To her credit, McLemore took wasted little to composing Shining Through, beginning the legwork for the book in November 2023 and completing it by year’s end.
Her featured book was finally published on March 26, 2024.
“And I just celebrated its one-year anniversary on March 26, 2025,” McLemore said. “The journey from start to finish has been nothing short of incredible, and I am excited to see where it continues to take me. The single, most underlying reason I chose to write Shining Through was to give a voice to those who feel different and to inspire self-love and acceptance,” McLemore continued. “My daughter’s journey with Incontinentia Pigmenti showed me the power of embracing uniqueness, and I wanted to create a story that not only raises awareness but also empowers others to see their own beauty and strength.”
According to a report by the National Organization for Rare Disorders, Incontinentia Pigmenti (or IP) is a genetic ectodermal dysplasia affecting the skin, hair, teeth, microvasculature and central nervous system. Progressive skin changes occur in four stages, the first of which appear in early infancy or can be present at birth. Also, IP is an X-linked dominant genetic disorder caused by changes (variants or mutations) in the IKBKG gene.
Generally, IP was named based on the appearance of the skin under the microscope during the later stages of the condition.
MAJOR MUST READS
Much to her delight, McLemore’s featured book has made her the beneficiary of an outpour rave reviews.
“Overall, the feedback for Shining Through has been incredibly positive and deeply moving,” McLemore told MHN. “Readers have shared how the story resonates with them, inspiring self-love, confidence, and a greater understanding of those with visible and invisible differences. Many have praised its heartfelt message, beautiful storytelling, and the awareness it brings to Incontinentia Pigmenti.
“The book has touched parents, children, and individuals who have felt different at some point in their lives, reinforcing that true beauty shines from within.”
Besides Shining Through, McLemore announced the forthcoming releases of two more books: We Did It! Now Get Off Your Hindparts. You Can Too!, an anthology that debuted March 1, and The Voice of A Mother’s Pain, which is scheduled to debut in May.
Additional books are on the horizon, McLemore said.
“Yes, I am currently working on my second solo project, The Voice of A Mother’s Pain, now available presale,” McLemore said. “This book is a profound collection from mothers who have walked the challenging path of raising children with disabilities or special needs. Each mother shares their unique journey, from the moment of diagnosis to navigating the medical, emotional, physical, and societal hurdles that follow.
“These stories provide an honest look into the struggles, fears, and triumphs these women face daily. Through love, resilience, and determination, they reveal the depth of a mother’s strength and power of hope. This book serves as both a source of support and inspiration for parents everywhere. I also plan to write a follow up book to Shining Through giving an update on the journey.”
THERE’S A SEED IN THE GROUND

Since the debut of Shining Through, McLemore relishes the notion that her featured book has created widespread national buzz, one that figures to linger for quite some time.
“I have had the incredible opportunity to share its message through various platforms,” McLemore told MHN. “From heartfelt podcast interviews to engaging discussions at my local library and inspiring visits to classrooms, I have been able to connect with audiences who resonate with the book’s themes of self-love, resilience, and embracing differences.”
