SURVIVING THE WILDERNESS
As Francisco Brock vividly recalls, his faith undoubtedly was on trial unlike never before.
Such a disastrous, downtrodden season, according to this esteemed and longtime faith leader, essentially unfolded roughly four years ago.
“God gave me the vision to write this book after I had lived through one of the most difficult and revealing seasons of my life,” Brock, the Senior Pastor the Douglasville, Georgia-based Grace Place Church, told Making Headline News this week in kicking off its advance national coverage ahead of Bishop T. D. Jakes’ Good Soil Forum in Dallas October 8-10, featuring special guest, Tyler Perry.
The book to which Brock is alluding is Through The Storm Into His Arms: A Testimony of God’s Faithfulness, his highly-anticipated memoir that, much to his delight, has set off a fervent buzz across various message boards and social media platforms.

“The storm of 2022 did not just test my reputation. It tested the foundation beneath my faith, my leadership, my family, my mind, and my identity,” Brock, an East Saint Louis, Illinois native, told MHN. “At first, I was not thinking about writing a book. I was thinking about surviving the next day, protecting my family, remaining silent when everything in me wanted to defend myself, and trusting God while truth moved slower than my pain wanted it to move.
“But after the matter was ruled completely unfounded and the grand jury returned a no true bill, I began to see that what I had endured was not meant to die in silence. God allowed the storm to become a classroom, and the vision for this book came from the conviction that somebody else needed to know that darkness can be real without being final.”

As Brock acknowledged, “the deepest reason” he felt greatly inspired to move forward with his memoir was centered in large part on his quest to diligently turn pain into purpose and private survival into public hope.
“Pain, when left buried, can become a prison but when surrendered to God, it can become a pulpit,” Brock explained. “I did not write this book to make a monument out of trauma, accusation, grief, or hardship. I wrote it because I believe testimony has the power to reach places sermons sometimes cannot.”
Moreover, another a factor that fueled Brock’s drive to compose Through The Storm Into His Arms was the notion that was comprised of people who have become accustomed to smiling in public while breaking in private, the preacher-turned-transformational-life coach said.
“Leaders who are preaching strength while quietly needing strength, families trying to heal after storms they did not ask for, and believers who love God but still have questions,” Brock said. “I wrote this book so they could see that the storm is not the end of the story. If one reader finds courage to keep breathing, keep praying, keep healing, keep forgiving, or keep believing, then the book has fulfilled its assignment.”
Brock began the legwork on his memoir sometime in 2023, needing somewhere in the neighborhood of three years to produce a book that, to his credit, is as good as advertised.
“Those three years were not simply a writing timeline,” Brock said. “They were a sacred wrestling. I was not only arranging chapters. I was revisiting rooms inside myself that I had survived but not fully understood.”

Interestingly enough, Brock recalled how writing extensively subsequently gave way to him walking back through what he describes as “childhood fear” or, as he specifically referenced, the grief of losing Montez.
“The disappointment of dreams deferred, the shame of hard seasons, the burden of leadership, the discipline of silence, and the slow work of healing after public pressure,” Brock said. “I did not want to write from bitterness, anger, or reaction. I wanted the book to carry truth without poison, pain without despair, and honesty without losing hope. In many ways, the manuscript became an altar where God helped me turn memory into ministry.”
Days removed from having made his ceremonious authorship debut, Brock doesn’t shy away from the notion that additional books are on the horizon – much sooner rather than later.
“I do have several upcoming works that are in the process of being released,” said Brock, referring to the following forthcoming published projects:

- The Release Decision
As for the fervent buzz surrounding his newly-released memoir, Brock emphasized, among other things, that the storm doesn’t merely get the final word.
“God does,” Brock says without hesitation. “That sounds simple, but it becomes powerful when you have stood in a storm that touched your name, your family, your calling, your mind, and your future. I want readers to understand that God can be trusted even when He cannot be fully explained. Pain is real. Trauma is real. Grief is real. Accusation is real. Disappointment is real. Betrayal is real. But none of those realities are greater than the presence of God.

“This book carries the message that survival is not the same as wholeness, and God is not only interested in getting us out of the storm,” Brock continued. “He is interested in healing what the storm exposed. My prayer is that readers close this book with a deeper confidence that their life is not over because of what happened to them.
