RAISING THE BAR
Jerry Smith has been afforded the golden opportunity to partner with several high-profile celebrity and celebrity athletes, many of whom have embraced his immeasurable body of work as the owner and CEO of The JAS Connection.
Now, that he has taken his globally-acclaimed venture to the heart of the Big Apple, Smith doesn’t shy away from the notion that he’s destined to partner with arguably the world’s finest actor, writer, producer and director: Tyler Perry.
A native of New Orleans, Perry, 50, created and performs the Madea character, which depicts the life of a tough, elderly woman. Perry’s films, by all accounts, vary in style from orthodox filmmaking techniques to filmed productions of live stage plays. Generally, many of Perry’s stage-play films have been subsequently adapted as films.
Also, Perry wrote and produced a slew of stage plays during the 1990s and early 2000s, having also developed several television series, most notably Tyler Perry’s House of Payne, which ran for eight seasons on TBS from June 21, 2006 to August 10, 2012.
Then, on October 2, 2012, Perry struck an exclusive multi-year partnership with Oprah Winfrey and her Oprah Winfrey Network. The partnership was largely for the sake of bringing scripted television to OWN, based on Perry’s previous success in this area. Perry subsequently had created multiple scripted series for the network, The Haves and the Have Nots being its most successful.
Interestingly, The Haves and the Have Nots have given OWN its highest ratings to date as of 2014, with the series also referred to as one of OWN’s biggest success stories with its weekly dose of soapy fun, filled with the typical betrayals, affairs, and manipulations.
A native of Los Angeles, Smith, 61, is the mastermind behind The JAS Connection, his New York City-based company whose strategic mission statement is centered largely on raising awareness and funds through, particularly through private and public sector projects, as well as other ventures and events, as mentioned in a detailed introduction https://thejasconnection.com/.

During an exclusive interview this week with Making Headline News, Smith deemed it essential to provide a number of reasons he’s hopeful Perry would be open to building a working a rapport with his credible company.
Smith boasts an immeasurable body of work as the face of The JAS Connection, which is widely known for placing emphasis on developing social media groups to campaign, promote, publicize, advertise, market and advocate for.
Widely regarded as a “seasoned entrepreneur” who boasts immeasurable expertise in multimedia strategic communications, extensive experience in media campaigns, marketing, advertising and fundraising, Smith has been dubbed a well-respected net worker and connector, who has worked with celebrity clients to leverage their star power into inspiring and sustainable philanthropy, awareness, and agency multimedia that have greatly improved the lives of people and communities across the United States and globally.
A career that spans more than three decades, Smith has had the luxury of working with the likes of Michael Jackson, Frank Sinatra, Muhammad Ali, and Whitney Houston, among others.
“But it was all because of their work with charity and causes,” Smith said of his keen relationship with these celebrities. “It’s believed I own the largest privately-owned video stock of never-before-seen celebrity video footage than anyone in the United States — probably close to a thousand hours.”
Armed with a unparallel resume in his selected industry, Smith has expressed his fervent desire to work with Perry whom, in 2011, was named Forbes highest-paid man in entertainment.
Amongst those reasons, Smith acknowledged, are:
- “We have a (countless number of) hours of never before seen video footage of dozens of celebrities at charity events since the early 1980s.”
- “Our video footage was of celebrities giving their time, their names and their talents to support charities.”
- “It’s a way to connect the past with the present by using the tools of today, and because social media, plus celebrities, equal a broader awareness.”
- “We want to tell the story of the men behind the mic and lens. Considering my company is comprised of black photographers and videographers who have worked at some of the biggest, most elaborate affairs in Hollywood from the 1980’s through 2000’s and beyond.”
- “We already have the footage in our possession, and all we have to do is put it together and tell the celebs’ story.”
- “I believe we can reconnect with every foundation for every celebrity whom we have on tape to get them re-involved” and,
- “We have worked and been around some of the biggest stars. Therefore, we would be grateful of the opportunity to partner with arguably the biggest stars in entertainment in Mr. Tyler Perry.”
