A LIVING TESTIMONY: Cincinnati Pastor Tamela Lucus conquers cancer and other life-altering obstacles, writes a trio of books

SHE’S STILL STANDING
Pastor Tamela Lucus remembers it like yesterday.
“The doctor told my mother that would not be walking soon at the age of nine,” Lucas told Making Headline News this week. “Through it all, I’ve learned to put my trust in Jesus.”
Born with what she describes as an array of obstacles, Lucus has been blessed to live well into her late 40’s which, much to her delight, is a testament of how God has steadfastly used her in the midst of the occasional trials that have surfaced in her life to challenge her faith.
“I’m almost 50 (years of age),” Lucus says without such great wonderment. “I still walk funny, but I can walk in Jesus Name. Despite the test and trails, I want to encourage others through my books that obstacles should not stop you from going forward.”
To her credit, Lucus has felt greatly inspired to share of her assortment of life-altering testimonies in her trio of books, most notably in Pompi-You Are Love! Abuse Does Not Care What Color, Size, Creed, Or Religion You Are, her featured written work that jumpstarted her authorship debut.

Officially released in 2015, Lucus’ Pompi-You Are Love! Abuse Does Not Care What Color, Size, Creed, Or Religion You Are is an 82-page read that reminds us, among other things, that abuse is everywhere, an mentioned in a detailed synopsis of this Cincinnati-based writer’s book at Amazon.com.
“Sometimes, (abuse) is in the church,” an Amazon spokesperson for Lucus initial project said. “I just wonder: How many women have to die before the government do something? Pompi has to find things out the hard way. Sometimes, our experiences are the best teaching skills.”
Approximately four years removed from having made her ceremonious authorship debut, Lucus witnessed the release of How I Feel On Any given Day: Days Of The Week, her sophomore awe-inspiring book.
Released officially in 2015, Lucus’ How I Feel On Any given Day: Days Of The Week is a children’s book that highlights the days of the week during which kids could read during the course of the day or “right before bed to encourage learning,” Lucas acknowledged.
And, just recently, Lucus became one of 90 co-authors to collectively birth Finding Joy In the Journey: Healthy Ways to Navigate Grief 90 Day Devotional, an international bestselling anthology that was spearheaded by Washington DC businesswoman Vernessa Blackwell.
In this book, which debuted in August 2020, Lucus and other Christian-based writer engage in real talk about love, loss, grief, and healing, among other pertinent topics.

Having conquered a turbulent battle with cancer during which she needed a hysterectomy in 2017 to remove it, Lucus is forever grateful to God Almighty for strategically sparing her life.
“Other things have happened, but God is a Provider and Deliverer,” Lucus says without hesitation.
Interestingly, Lucus said her forthcoming book, A Children’s Trilogy About Celessa and Bobby, is currently in the works.
A native of Cincinnati who is the Senior Pastor of Come Home Stop Talking About It Ministries, Lucus said having beat cancer isn’t the only miracle God has performed on her behalf.
“God had equipped me to go through some tough trails,” Lucus recalls. “The trails were as followed” my mother died and I became an instant mom to my siblings. Then, I was blessed to birth three beautiful children. Two of them are deaf. While pregnant with my daughter, I had fallen down in the snow and had fractured my right hip. I had to use a walker and receive electrical shocks in my legs to strengthen my legs.”
Still, because of whom she is and because of where God is taking her, Lucus is yet standing, making known His deeds among the nations, as we are encouraged to do so, according to Psalm 105:1.
“I want to let everyone know that we all go through trials, and how we look or handle the situation is how we will get through it,” said Lucus, reciting the familiar Biblical passage that is Psalms 56:11.
“In God have I put my trust. I will not be afraid what man can do unto me.”
Especially considering God Almighty has strategically spared her life.
Time and time again.
