LITTLE ELM, Texas — Tanisha Boyd eats a considerable amount of apple sauce daily.
But why?
“I feel like I eat enough as my healthy regiment,” Boyd, 14, a Texas prep student athlete told Making Headline News this week. “Eat an apple a day keeps the doctor away.”
Not only that, because Boyd has steadfastly adopted a healthy diet has benefited her mightily, particularly as a Braswell High School track and field newcomer who boasts lofty aspirations of displaying her athletic talents at the collegiate level sometime in 2024.
A speedy freshman sprinter in her own right, Boyd is steadily having what could be appropriately described as a breakthrough campaign, in large part because she’s making a strong case to solidify a vital role as a member of the Bengals’ varsity squad — much sooner than later.
Throughout this season, a majority of Boyd’s repetitions have come while assuming an immeasurable role with Braswell’s junior varsity unit.
To her credit, she’s been nothing short of impressive in a variety of events, most notably the final leg of the 4×100, the third leg of the 4×200 meter relay, as well as the 100-meter dash.

Awesomesauce for the gifted sprinter who makes it a point to consume her daily portion of apple sauce.
“Due to my dental hygiene, I eat apple sauce,” Boyd said. “I eat about five-to-10 jars a day. “It gives a me a boost of energy.”
For Boyd, her daily supply of apple sauce, by all accounts, has transcended in part to a masterful performance as arguably one of Braswell’s finest newcomers, whose best and brightest days as a rising prep track and field competitor are well ahead of her, given the fervent strides she’s made this year in her selected sport.
Early and often, to put it more precisely.
“It’s giving me more experience with running more than one race,” said Boyd, explaining how competing on the junior varsity is essentially boosting her confidence in preparation for varsity. “It’s also it’s giving me more time to get better.”
Although Braswell is approaching the season’s midway point, Boyd contends this isn’t merely the time to become complacent in a freshman season in which she’s enjoyed her share of quantum leaps.
“My plans for the summer are to (join) an AAU track team so I can get more practice,” Boyd said.
Not to mention stock up on apple sauce.
Now we know why.
