For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. (Romans 8:18/KJV)
STAYING IN FAITH
Approximately 48 hours before the 2001 terrorist attacks transpired, Dr. Barbara Ann Palmer endured arguably the darkest season of her life.
“As a Pastor, leader, and community advocate for young people, I was devastated that this pain came to my door, and I was even more devastated at how people begin to assume and write a narrative about my son and our family,” Dr. Palmer, during an interview this week with Making Headline News, said, recalling the turbulence that surfaced within her family after the tragic death of her son, who died by suicide.
“I wanted people in the kingdom to understand that my first reaction was not to run to God, but from Him. It was my personal journal of how I went from a dark place to speaking to other families in the kingdom about mental illness and how I do not agree with anyone saying my son, who served God all his life and who had a mental breakdown could end up in hell simply because that is what we were taught in church.
“I just could not agree with that theology. This book takes you through my being pregnant at 16, in an abusive relationship, starting my own business and then marrying the man of my dreams.”

The book to which Dr. Palmer is alluding is I Am Barbara Palmer: One Woman’s Journey To Find Healing After A Loss, her featured written work that made its ceremonious debut in Fall 2022.
As part of Making Headline News’ 2023 Essence Music Festival advance coverage leading to the “the party with a purpose” event June 29-July 3 in New Orleans, Dr. Palmer, who resides in Odenton, Maryland, spoke at length about what fueled her desire to compose a book it took her roughly three years to produce (she began writing it in December 2014 and it was published in March 2017).
Dr. Palmer’s I Am Barbara Palmer: One Woman’s Journey To Find Healing After A Loss is accompanied by the I Am Barbara Palmer Prayer Journal, which debuted this year.
A spiritually-empowering, riveting published masterpiece that is comprised of 86 pages, Dr. Palmer said God had instilled within the vision to produced her No. 1 book approximately a decade ago.
“Everyone experiences difficulties and struggles in life,” an I Am Barbara Palmer spokesperson said in a detailed synopsis of her featured book via Barnes & Noble’s information page. “Some situations can be detrimental and life threatening. As for how her she senses her featured book aligns with the purpose for which God has created her, Dr. Palmer said:
“Everything I have suffered has led me to a life of intimate prayer with the father. It is who I am and what I need to keep my mind. Prayer is the oxygen I breathe and, without it, I would suffocate and die spiritually. I did not know at the time that this book would catapult me into speaking about prayer, mental illness, and setbacks.”
Interestingly enough, Dr. Palmer’s I Am Barbara Palmer subsequently inspired her to resume advancing her education.
Mission accomplished for the longtime Pastor, entrepreneur, and transformational coach who is face of Kingdom Kare Childcare Center, her featured business endeavor that is nationally accredited through the National Early Childhood Program.
ADVANCING THE KINGDOM
“I had no idea that I would return to college and get my degree in Pastoral Counseling,” Dr. Palmer told MHN. “It opened doors for me to travel and speak to share my story about rebuilding, healing, and not staying stuck in the grief process. The scripture that the Father gave me during this entire process is found in Romans 8:28: And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.
“Without learning how to walk through this pain and darkness, I would have never discovered just how much faith and strength I have.”
