Winners BBQ has been nothing short of remarkable since its 2015 Dallas/Fort Worth inception

WINNER’S CIRCLE

DOING IT BIG IN TEXAS — A former Iowa State football standout, DeAndre Jackson had ultimately delved off into the ever-so-competitive world of entrepreneurship as the proud founder of Winners BBQ, a family-owned restaurant that has established three franchises since its inception in 2015.

DUNCANVILLE, Texas — If there’s one thing that DeAndre Jackson has learned as a former athlete, it’s how to make good on a seemingly unfavorable situation.

Consider, for instance, how when Jackson’s bid to land on an NFL roster spot fell short amid a career-ending ACL injury, he diligently had become resourceful in that he miraculously found his niche, both as an athletic trainer and real estate agent.
Much to his delight, things for the Garland, Texas native would only get better.

THEY ARE LIT — Winners BBQ, in fact, has become a fixture throughout North Texas, in large part because consumers have come to enjoy — and embrace — its delectable meat plates, meat by the pound, its assortment of sandwiches, not to mention its smoked turkey legs, as well as its distinctly unique meat loaded potato that’s famously deemed “The G.O.AT.”

Winners BBQ’s original location is housed at 3200 14th Street in nearby Plano. A popular Dallas/Fort Worth restaurant that Jackson owns along with his cousin, Tevin Jackson, Tevin’s wife, former University of Texas and professional track and field star Nichole Denby-Jackson, Winners BBQ has since added two locations — one in Cedar Hill and in Austin.

Following what the Jacksons described as “massive success” of the Plano location, DeAndre opened Winners BBQ Cedar Hill in 2017, and in less than three months ago, Nichole, Tevin, and Nichole’s sister, Nichale,  opened the Austin location.

For DeAndre Jackson and Co., it’s been all good ever since.

RED ZONE EFFICIENCY

To their credit, the Jacksons have gone to great lengths to form what has become an All-Star lineup of Winners BBQ CEOs.

“We pride ourselves on bringing flavorful craft BBQ with having a one-of-a-kind menu and delivering exceptional customer service,” Nichole Denby-Jackson told Making Headline News this week.

And then there are Winners BBQ’s mouth-watering sides and its kids menu, not to mention its sweet and tangy BBQ sauce and its flavor-packed dry rub, which takes all of its smoked meats to “another level of flavor,” DeAndre Jackson acknowledged.

Interestingly, Winners BBQ has earned mentions in a slew of food publications, trends that have given way to this star-studded restaurant chain having garnered a host of food awards and magazine honors.

“As high profile collegiate and professional athletes, we are highly competitive by nature and this competitiveness and drive spill over into every faucet of our lives,” DeAndre Jackson explained. “Sports is what we all have in common, and the discipline, dedication, perseverance, mental toughness, sacrifice, motivation, and determination that athletics have instilled in us has taught us very valuable life lessons and how to never quit, no matter what curve balls life throw your way.”

To their credit, the Jacksons have gone to great lengths to form what has become an All-Star lineup of Winners BBQ CEOs.

Surely, their competitive drive as former athletes has contributed mightily to their sustained entrepreneurship success.

For starters, DeAndre and Tevin Jackson, both were legitimate hopeful to land NFL contracts before injuries reduced their effectiveness, thus bringing their careers to unceremoniously ends.

ON A MISSION — As for the Jacksons’ mission for having delved off into entrepreneurship, what it all boils down, they said, is devising ways to leave a legacy for their children — and their children’s children.

Both, in fact, had sustained torn ACL’s, and were forced to tackle — and sack — what they label as the “real world” for the first time in a long time.

And then there was Nichole, a Los Angeles native, who was the catalyst of Texas’ track and field program that captured a national championship before she enjoyed a professional stint with Nike and Adidas that spanned a decade.

Interestingly, Nichole maintained a top-10 world ranking and represented the U. S. on its World Championship Team, as well as served as an alternate on the U. S. Olympic team.

“My personal mission is to be able to pass down something for my children to own and start them off at an even better place in life than I was,” Nichole said. “I would also love to use my platform to motivate and inspire others, whether that be on speaking panels, through a published book, public appearances, and various events or seminars.

“Another mission is to have enough financial freedom for me to give back to many communities through charitable acts of kindness and build water wells in certain parts of Africa for those without clean water,” Nichole added. “We are all big on philanthropy and are big advocates for our community.”

DeAndre and Tevin Jackon both were legitimate hopeful to land NFL contracts before injuries reduced their effectiveness, thus bringing their careers to unceremoniously end. Both, in fact, sustained torn ACL’s, and were both forced to tackle — and sack — the real world for the first time in a long time.

In addition, the Jacksons announced strategic plans to create what they call the “WINspiration Foundation,” an organization that would allow them to display their notable philanthropy efforts.

“Something that I learned from the late great Nipsey Hussle is that the highest human act is to inspire,” Nichole said. “If I can use my platform to reach at least one person — I would love to inspire many — I would be happy.”

Said DeAndre Jackson: “It is important to pass down knowledge and wisdom to better those around you and make them want to become the best versions of themselves and to be able to pass down and instill these things in the next generation which will pick up the baton as it will be their turn to run the world.”

Just as the Jacksons are presently doing as successful entrepreneurs — this after having made good on seemingly unfavorable situations.

Talk about true Winners.

Houston businesswoman Tina McBride Reed goes from fast food worker to CEO of credible mobile care and companion service

DISPLAYING AGAPE LOVE

GOD’S UNCHANGING HAND — A native of Spring, Texas, Tina McBride Reed, 40, is the owner and chief executive officer of Tina Reed’s Caring Hands LLC, a Houston-area mobile care and companion service whose primary emphasis is centered mostly on helping and caring for others, most notably senior citizens, whom are often neglected, Reed told Making Headline News this week.

DALLAS — Tina McBride Reed’s reputation is such that she routinely exemplifies having a heart for people, especially for elderly individuals.

So, much in fact, that Reed has gone to great lengths to provide a resourceful, credible service to elderly people throughout the greater Houston metropolitan and surrounding areas.

A native of Spring, Texas, Reed, 40, is the owner and chief executive officer of Tina Reed’s Caring Hands LLC, a Houston-area mobile care and companion service whose primary emphasis is centered mostly on helping and caring for others, most notably senior citizens, whom are often neglected, Reed told Making Headline News this week.

CONNECT WITH TINA’S BUSINESS VENTURE: http://msreed2015.com/

“We are a private mobile care and companion service that offers to anyone who is in need, but caters especially to the senior citizens,” Reed said. “I feel they are often neglected in some ways and often forgotten at times.”

Having assembled a staff that is comprised of her mother, two sisters, a niece, as well as a host of friends, family members, and caregivers, Reed established her mobile care venture a little more than a year ago — January 19, 2018 to be technical — as a strategic way to bridge the gap between that about which she’s passionate and the love for what she’s become destined to do.

ALL OF GOD’S PEOPLE MATTER — Reed’s reputation is such that she routinely exemplifies having a heart for people, especially for elderly individuals.

Currently a resident of Humble, Texas, Reed is the Activities Director and caregiver for a senior living community in nearby Woodlands.

“I’ve worked in the healthcare field and I’ve seen some things that I wish I could unsee,” Reed said. “I’ve seen the type of care that has been provided, and it wasn’t pleasing to me, so I wanted to make a difference.”

A little more than a year removed since the startup of Tina Reed’s Caring Hands LLC, this thriving, progressive businesswoman has been nothing short of impressive.

Credit her keen passion, coupled with her divine calling, as the reasons why.

“I wanted to be different and create my own team and expectations of how my vision of how care should be provided. I stand firm on our motto which is, ‘Treating your loved ones as our own.’ This simply means, however, you would treat (people like) your own mother, father, or loved one whether someone is there, overseeing you or not. You would want someone to provide that same type of love care, patience, and companionship for your loved ones, so I wanted to venture out on my own with my family to share our love and passion for what we do.” — Texas Entrepreneur Tina McBride Reed

To her credit, it seems that Reed and her team are reaping favorable results of their tireless efforts and valiant contributions through a distinctly unique mobile care venture that has become a fixture in the community.

“Thus far, we have touched a lot of lives, a lot of hearts, and a lot of families and their loved ones,” Reed said of the sustained success of her business. “My staff and I are both professional and caring, when it comes to your loved ones. We take great pride in providing the best, quality care, love, and support that are required in the adult healthcare field.”

Armed with a nearly a decade and a half of experience in the adult healthcare sector, Reed said what she loves the most about her line of work is the lasting relationships she customarily forms amongst those with whom she crosses paths.

PUTTING IN THE WORK — Currently a resident of Humble, Texas, Reed is the Activities Director and caregiver for a senior living community in nearby Woodlands.

“The thing I like the most about my business is meeting new people, creating special bonds, bonds that are like friendships, and some are like family,” said Reed, whose venture mostly accommodates senior citizens of any age, as well as special education or adult children. “I love to hear the stories that they share. I love transitioning with them and, most of all, I like providing them with quality care, companionship, passion and love for them, something I feel that every person should feel or provide for whomever. I get great joy in helping others.”

Her “great joy,” she said, was spearheaded by her Creator.

“I would definitely have to say that it was put on my heart by God,” said Reed, when asked Who were amongst those who inspired her to enter entrepreneurship. “I started off in fast food, working at Jack In The Box for five years before I said to myself, ‘This is not what I want to do for the rest of my life.’”

Interestingly, that Reed — behind the valiant support of Shannon Reed, her husband of three years — was determined to see from beyond her tenure at a local fast food chain and persevere diligently toward her purpose and calling has benefited her mightily, given the immeasurable strides she’s made a newcomer to the world of entrepreneurship.

“I was introduced to the healthcare field by my sister, who is also a caregiver for my company,” Reed explained. “She introduced me to providing care for the seniors.”

And the rest, as they say, was history.

Never mind that Reed had made her debut in the industry virtually clueless about what to do.

A SERVANT’S HEART

IMPACTING LIVES — Armed with a nearly a decade and a half of experience in the adult healthcare sector, Reed said what she loves the most about her line of work is the last relationships she customarily forms amongst those with whom she crosses paths.

“I honestly had no experience in the healthcare field prior to this besides taking care of my own parents,” said Reed, “but when I saw the responses from the care that I provided, that was a sign from God to me that this is what I needed to do.”

Once she made God the Focal Point of her what undoubtedly has become her newfound passion, she in turn began to reap her share of success.

Sustained success, that is.

“Honestly, I see a lot of people that want to do certain things but are afraid to step out on faith and do it,” Reed said. “There are a lot of people that just don’t want to take that extra initiative to do something that they love. I was in the same boat, but I stepped out on faith and said, ‘I’m going to do this.’”

For Reed, it was, by all accounts, a massive leap of faith, the kind that has ultimately connected her with the purpose for which she was created.

GOD’S PLAN — Interestingly, that Reed was determined to see from beyond her tenure at a local fast food chain and persevere diligently toward her purpose and calling has benefited her mightily, given the immeasurable strides she’s made a newcomer to the world of entrepreneurship.

“(I said) ‘If I make it great, wonderful. I’ve succeeded and I will have a success story. But if I fail, I still feel like I tried, I attempted, and I stepped out on faith and did not give up on at least trying so either way I still win,’” Reed recalled. “So I just want to show others that anything that you set your mind to that you can do if you put in the work for it.

“Nothing is ever given to you. You have to work for it. I love encouraging and inspiring and uplifting anyone in life who is trying to make it. That is me.”

Indeed it is.

What a difference one year has made.

Houston entrepreneur Melody Woods looking forward to 2019 with forthcoming wedding, documentary, new book

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud; It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs; Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth; It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveresLove never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away; For we know in part and we prophesy in part; but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears; When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me; For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known; And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. (1 Corinthians 13:4-13 NIV)

DALLAS — Melody Woods has endured enough turmoil and hardships, has encountered enough heartbreaks and letdowns, has pressed and navigated her way through enough unfavorable situations and circumstances to be able to identify when God is strategically positioning and elevating her for promotion.

Consider, for instance, how God had allowed Woods’ path to cross with Jesse James Willis III, her beloved fiancé, with whom she will exchange nuptials in the coming months.

Awwwww…

HER KING, HIS QUEEN

BACK AND BETTER THAN EVER — During an exclusive interview with Making Headline News, Woods, a longtime Houston-area entrepreneur who is the founder and CEO of MWG Tax And Financial Service Inc., announced the forthcoming debut of her documentary and release of her book, both of which are entitled, “The Surviving Butterflies.” Woods book is projected to hit the market on November 24, 2019. Pictured with Woods is Jesse James Willis III, her beloved fiancé, with whom she will exchange nuptials in the coming months.

“Where do I begin? The word, ‘joy,’ I never thought I would ever experience as far as a relationship,” Woods, during a recent interview with Making Headline News, explained when asked to describe the joy her soul mate has brought to her life.

Despite all through which she gone and conquered, Woods was found guilty of clinging to unwavering faith, coupled with a solid prayer life.

That is when God miraculously showed up on her behalf, thus allowing the right man to find her, a man whom she ironically has known for a little more than two decades.

“I have prayed to have a man that is so genuinely loving, faithful, patient, understanding, compassionate…someone as silly as me and, who most of all, keeps God first in his life,” Woods, displaying her customary big smile while offering her assessment of her Willis. “He is my best friend and I thank God for this man every day. Most people think we just meet. No, we’ve been knowing each other for over 20 years, which will be more detailed in my upcoming book.”

Said Willis, echoing some rather similar excitement for his significant other: “(Melody) has brought me overwhelming love, warm smiles, multiplied with happiness, encouraging words and thoughts are what she brought into my life. Having a plethora of things in common increase wonderful emotions. Our togetherness with those facts makes us able to overcome any obstacle.”

THE PROVERBS 18:22 AFFECT — Despite all through which she gone and conquered, Woods was found guilty of clinging to unwavering faith, coupled with a solid prayer life. That is when God miraculously showed up on her behalf, thus allowing the right man to find her, a man whom she ironically has known for a little more than two decades.

During an exclusive interview with MHN, Woods, a longtime Houston-area entrepreneur who is the founder and CEO of MWG Tax And Financial Service Inc., announced the forthcoming release of her book entitled, “The Surviving Butterflies,” which is projected to hit the market on November 24, 2019.

Interestingly, Woods’ book will be viable extension of her upcoming documentary that is also entitled, “The Surviving Butterflies,” a narrative that will depict an assortment of Woods’ personal and tumultuous experiences or, as she specifically acknowledged, “the obstacles I have overcome,” not to mention “the  removing a mask that I wore for 16 years.”

Much to the delight of this Texas couple, Willis suggested that Woods move forward with a 90-minute documentary she hopes attracts the attention of some of Hollywood’s big name directors and producers.

Woods said she hopes that someone such as renowned actor, playwright, filmmaker, and comedian Tyler Perry gets word of her forthcoming documentary.

“What if someone like Tyler Perry hears about this documentary? I would be so honored on so many levels. I would love for him to back my movie. I’m speaking it to existence.” — Melody Woods

Much like she spoke into existence her harvest season, this after having survived arguably the greatest tragedies of her life.

Just last summer, Woods’ heart was broken considerably when a close member of her family had suddenly passed away.

JESSE’S G.O.A.T — Still, when the dust settled, when the adversary sensed that he had this prized Texas businesswoman down for the count and rendered unto her a potential death sentence, here comes God, His usual reliable Self, showing on her behalf, thus cross-examining the enemy’s plots and schemes as only He could.

As if that wasn’t enough to rattle and shake up her family, Woods surprisingly suffered what doctors had described as a major stroke a little more than a month later, a stunning development that damaged the right side of her brain.

“God was definitely in the midst of it all, because one thing I know, I’m a fighter and all I can think about is everything I wanted to do and say if,” Woods, during a December 2017 interview with Making Headline News, said, assessing how she overcame what undoubtedly was a disastrous, emotionally-driven time for her.

Still, when the dust settled, when the adversary sensed that he had this prized Texas businesswoman down for the count and rendered unto her a potential death sentence, here comes God, His usual reliable Self, showing on her behalf, thus cross-examining the enemy’s plots and schemes as only He could.

Then comes some big-hearted, loving guy named Jesse James Willis III, a native Houstonian, who bears the namesake of his father and grandfather.

Even after having initially crossed paths some two decades ago, Willis stumbled upon Woods.

Once again.

However, this time, their reuniting had become far more arousing and captivating. In no particular order, though.

Willis then thought it necessary to ask Woods out on a date. Woods graciously said yes.

Then they went out on a date at some point.

And another one.

And another one.

And another one.

And…well, you get the point.

Then things got more and more serious between the two, this after Willis had won Woods’ heart. And vice versa.

MELODY’S G.O.A.T. — Fast forward to September 6, 2018, Willis sensed after a little more than two decades, there was no time to allow another 20 years elapse, much less a year. That was the day Willis proposed. That was the day Woods said yes.

Fast forward to September 6, 2018, Willis sensed that after a little more than two decades, there was no time to allow another 20 years elapse, much less a year.

That was the day Willis proposed. That was the day Woods said yes.

Now here they are, months away from their much-anticipated wedding, months away from a tear-jerking documentary that figures to create a global buzz, months away from a book that figures to find its way on the New York Times best-seller list.

Yep. Reunited, and it feels so good.

“Honestly, I never been so excited about a totally New Year,” said Woods, explaining how 2019 will be a new beginning for her, particularly after having endured and outlast so much adversity. “I had to understand that happiness is not out there, it’s in you. I always had the key to being happy, but know I understand I have the power to choose what to accept and let go of.”

AFTER SHE SUFFERED AWHILE — Still, when the dust settled, when the adversary sensed that he had this prized Texas businesswoman down for the count and rendered unto her a potential death sentence, here comes God, His usual reliable Self, showing on her behalf, thus cross-examining the enemy’s plots and schemes as only He could.

For Woods, chances are, she will find herself clinging tight to her fiancée on New Year’s Eve, unleashing tears of joy, the kind of tears that seemed displaced last year around this time.

“I’m going into a New Year more confident, stronger, determined more than ever,” said Woods, still placing her smile on public display which, as far as she is concerned, is just where it belongs. “God prepared me for this moment and I’m ready to share my testimony with the world…not just my dark days, but my brighter days.”

Credit the fact that after having endured enough turmoil and hardships, enough heartbreaks and letdowns, enough unfavorable situations and circumstances, she still persevered in that she’s able to identify when God is strategically positioning and elevating her for promotion.

IN THAT ORDER — “I’m going into a New Year more confident, stronger, determined more than ever,” said Woods, still placing her smile on public display which, as far as she is concerned, is just where it belongs. “God prepared me for this moment and I’m ready to share my testimony with the world…not just my dark days, but my brighter days.”

So bring on 2019 and everything that comes with it.

Because there’s no doubt this Texas businesswoman is destined to continue to do things big — with her soon-to-be-husband right alongside her, cheering her on.

“Releasing my documentary, starting my nonprofit organization, my book and, most of all, marrying best friend and sharing our love story. Also opening 4 new businesses by 2020,” said Woods, reviewing her forthcoming itinerary for such remarkable time as now. “We are ready to share and help change families’  lives for the better.”

All of these heaven-mandated promotions — all of these well-deserved blessings after having survived arguably the greatest tragedies of her life.

Houston’s Tamara Washington overcomes the spirit of fear, makes her authorship debut as a result

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7 KJV)

DALLAS — Tamara Washington, at one point in time, admittedly was uncomfortable.

Very, very uncomfortable, she recalls.

“I didn’t feel comfortable sharing with those around me,” Washington, during a recent interview with Making Headline News, said, recalling her assortment of challenges as it pertains to sharing her personal testimonies. “So it made things more challenging to overcome. Now, I’m seeking to encourage someone’s heart so they would know they’re not alone.”

GOD’S LEADING LADY

SMILING HER WAY THROUGH — In making her authorship debut, Tamara C. Washington has appropriately disclosed her testimonies and valiant contributions to book entitled, “I Rise: Living Beyond The Bruises.”

Fortunately for Washington, she’s been afforded the ideal platform whereby she has displayed a great deal of transparency.

In making her authorship debut, Washington has appropriately disclosed her testimonies and valiant contributions to book entitled, “I RISE: Living Beyond The Bruises.”

A book that is forwarded by accomplished Flint, Michigan-based author, empowerment extraordinaire, and Kilgore Publishing founder Precious S. Brown, “I RISE: Living Beyond The Bruises” made its presence on the market on December 17.

PURCHASE “I RISE” RIGHT HERE: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07LBMFQP7

“I’ve had the desire to write a book for a long as I can remember,” Washington, a native of Cade, Louisiana — “Some the greatest things have come from some of the smallest places on the map,” she said of her rural hometown — who currently resides in the Houston area. “I recall having the desire to write a book as early as my adolescent years. So what was simply a desire has become reality.”

As for the divine message she aspires to send to her reading audience through “I RISE,” Washington emphasized, among other things, that, “It is nearly impossible to have healthy relationships with others when you’re separated from yourself within.”

Now that her published work has come to fruition, not only has Washington broken out of her comfort zone — both in the natural and spirit — but, to her credit, she’s going to great lengths to help others with similar personalities to follow suit.

CREATING A LEGACY — Now that her published work has come to fruition, not only has Washington broken out of her comfort zone — both in the natural and spirit — but, to her credit, she’s going to great lengths to help others with similar personalities to follow suit.

“I began writing the book for the purpose of helping people,” Washington explained. “I’ve often had the experience of feeling alone when going through life’s situations.”

In a detailed breakdown of “I RISE: Living Beyond the Bruises” at Amazon.com, this awe-inspiring and compelling written document is a collaboration of  women, each of whom have worked diligently to overcome insecurities, shame, identity crises, uncertainties and more.

“As you turn the pages of this book, you will gain hope and encouragement to overcome the obstacles you face,” said a spokesperson for Brown’s book, which is her ninth published work to date.

For Washington, while her contributing piece to “I RISE: Living Beyond the Bruises” is her first published work, it certainly isn’t her last, she acknowledged.

“I plan to write multiple books to elaborate on several topics that were briefly mentioned in ‘I RISE.'”  — Author Tamara C. Washington

RISING STOCK — A book that is forwarded by accomplished Flint, Michigan-based author, empowerment extraordinaire, and Kilgore Publishing founder Precious S. Brown, “I Rise: Living Beyond The Bruises” made its presence on the market on December 17.

Much to her delight, Washington has become the beneficiary of an array of positive feedback since the release of “I RISE.”

“I anticipate receiving lots of feedback” said Washington, adding that her grandest supporters have been her local church, as well as her Pastor and spiritual father, Apostle Dr. W. E. Brown.

“I would also like to give special thanks to the leaders of Covenant Temple Churches Worldwide for their unconditional love, support, prayers, and guidance throughout the years I’ve been a part of their ministry,” Washington continued.

MORE TO COME — For Washington, while her contributing piece to “I RISE: Living Beyond the Bruises” is her first published work, it certainly isn’t her last, she acknowledged.

For what it’s worth, amongst the factors about which Washington is mostly proud is this anthology has created an international buzz since its much-anticipated release.

“(This book) will reach many all over the world,” Washington said. So this project has given me the ability to share my testimony with the word of the Lord in mind. My desire is to reach the hearts of many that they, too, would ask the question: ‘What must I do to be saved?’”

Dallas/Fort Worth author T. L. Adams’ ‘Get Rid Of Your Stupid List’ book is a constant page turner

MAKING HEADLINE NEWS WELCOMES AUTHOR T. L. ADAMS

DALLAS — T. L. Adams is a writer.

A pretty darn good and resourceful one, to be more technical.

To her distinctly unique credit, she has a few good reasons why she has appropriately adopted a passion for writing, most notably through the ever-so-competitive authorship industry.

“Writing about my life and short stories are therapy to me,” Adams, an accomplished author who’s widely known as ‘Tynisa Adams,’ told Making Headline News during a recent interview.

SHE’S AIN’T STUPID — A native of Kansas City, Missouri, Dallas/Fort Worth-area author T. L. Adams is the mastermind behind the book entitled, “Get Rid Of Your Stupid List: Seven Reasons You Are Successful And Still Single,” a 112-page written document that officially hit the market in July 2017.

As Adams acknowledged, it wasn’t until after her divorce that she consequently returned to dating, a trend that essentially fueled her fervent desire to compose her assortment of experiences in the form of a book.

“After my divorce was final, I knew I had to write about my experiences,” Adams said.

She did just that, having produced a book that not only details her slew of life-changing encounters, but also one that is enabling others to assess the overall landscape of their lives — particularly as it relates to interpersonal relational skills.

A native of Kansas City, Missouri, Adams is the mastermind behind the book entitled, “Get Rid Of Your Stupid List: Seven Reasons You Are Successful And Still Single.”

Armed with a wealth of beauty, Adams is a divorced mom of two children whom, as a gifted author, deemed it essential to share before the world a variety of issues, particularly as it pertains to dating – most notably various forms of pain, frustration, and disappointment.

“Her mission is to help women self-reflect and look at the real reasons that have kept them single,” according to a spokesperson for Adams’ ‘Get Rid of Your Stupid List!’ in a detailed breakdown of her book at https://www.archwaypublishing.com/Bookstore/BookDetail.aspx?BookId=SKU-001111710. “She presents a series of principles she has adopted in order to change her way of thinking and behavior in order to achieve different results. Adams breaks down the various factors that have kept her and other women single, and she shares dating tips that helped her make better choices and life lessons she learned on her dating journey.”

BACK AND BETTER THAN EVER — As Adams acknowledged, it wasn’t until after her divorce that she consequently returned to dating, a trend that essentially fueled her desire to compose her assortment of experiences in the form of a book.

But understand this notion also: Adams emphasizes, among other things, that she isn’t merely pinning blame on men as to why she’s presently single.

So don’t get it twisted.

“The book was written to encourage, motivate, and help others reflect on their decisions when it comes to dating. One thing that sets this book apart is that I am not blaming men as to why I am single. I blame myself. I use my story from being married to now divorced, starting over with dating to help others who has had to start over too.” — Author T. L. Adams

All things considered, “Get Rid Of Your Stupid List: Seven Reasons You Are Successful And Still Single” is not a man-bashing book, Adams acknowledged without hesitation.

DON’T BE SO STUPID

IT’S ALL GOOD — As expected, Adams has become the beneficiary of some favorable feedback since the much-anticipated release of a Get Rid Of Your Stupid List book that is comprised of 112 pages in length.

“This book comes from a counselor’s perspective,” Adams said of a book that officially made its presence on the market on July 13, 2017. “This book will help you reflect your decisions when it comes to dating and relationships. This book will show you the bad decisions I have made and what I am doing now to make better decisions when it comes to dating.”

As expected, Adams has become the beneficiary of some favorable feedback since the much-anticipated release of a Get Rid Of Your Stupid List book that is comprised of 112 pages in length.

Having earned both an MBA and a Master’s in Counseling and currently pursuing a Doctorate in Psychology, Adams doesn’t shy away from the notion that her first book undoubtedly is a part of the purpose for which God has created her.

“I believe that this book is a part of the purpose for which God created me, because it is an avenue to share my personal experiences, going through a divorce and starting over in the dating scene,” Adams said. “I share my failures and job loss, (which is) my motivation to push myself the way I do. We all have a story to share and publishing a book, talking about my dating life will help others avoid the mistakes I have made by choosing the wrong guys (I chose) in my life.

ISN’T SHE LOVELY? Armed with a wealth of beauty, Adams is a divorced mom of two children whom, as a gifted author, deemed it essential to share before the world a variety of issues, particularly as it pertains to dating – most notably various forms of pain, frustration, and disappointment.

“I believe that going from married to single is a hard transition in itself, but I believe that in everything (I’ve done), I have learned many lessons throughout this process that I wanted to share with others.”

She’s done just that, courtesy of what undoubtedly is a must-read book, one whereby she’s holding herself accountable as to why she’s single — at least for the time being.

“In my book, I own that I am the reason I am single,” Adams said without hesitation once again. “As I talked with different females, I realized there is a trend of successful single women. I was trying to figure out what the problem was. It came down to the list. Our list has prevented us from being in relationships because we are looking for Mr. Perfect, and we need to realize that it does not exist.”

Allen Dave Funeral Homes & Crematorium amongst Texas’ finest amid Jackson Family Massacre in 2015

MAKING HEADLINE NEWS WELCOMES MR. AND MRS. ALLEN L. DAVE

EDITOR’S NOTE: This the first of a two-part Making Headline News series about Houston-area entrepreneur Allen L. Dave, Jr.

DALLAS — Allen L. Dave, Jr. fielded the question as if he expected it.

“(That was a) proud moment in our company history to be positioned to help,” Dave, during an interview this week with Making Headline News, said, explaining in great detail the devastating and disheartening events amid the Jackson Family Massacre that transpired in Houston in August 2015.

On August 8 of that year, then-48-year-old David Ray Conley allegedly broke into his former home and held hostage Valerie and Dewayne Jackson, along with six children, including his own 13-year-old son.

HEARTS OF GOLD — For Dave, 56, that he and his family deemed it essential to offer valiant support for the Jackson family during a horrific and terrifying tragedy that attracted an international media presence and was aired on more than 35 news stations nationwide has been dubbed arguably one of the favorable highlights for a progressive, thriving entrepreneur, whose presence in the death care industry spans more than 15 years. Pictured with Dave is his wife, Micca.

Over the course of nine hours, Conley reportedly shot and killed the entire family. He then engaged in a shootout with responding police before surrendering.

A week and a half or so later, eight white caskets were erected in front of the altar inside the 2,500-seat sanctuary at Houston’s Fallbrook Church, a commendable yet emotionally-driven deed that was spearheaded by Dave and his wife, Micca, who stepped up and donated $35,000 to provide professional funeral and burial services to the Jackson family.

“We developed a new company policy to never turn a family away and give them every option available,” Allen Dave told MHN. “Every Family, Every Option, Every Time.”

Interestingly, Dave in 2010 established Death Care Management & Financial Group, LLC, which subsequently had given way to his being allowed to manage funeral homes in Texas.

Having retired from the Houston Chronicle Publishing Company after a 28-year stint in the circulation and distribution department, Dave is Southeast Texas’ only black owner and operator of crematorium services.

Owner of four funeral homes, one cemetery, and a crematorium, Dave currently manages six other funeral homes and a second crematorium in Texas and Louisiana. Interestingly, Allen Dave Funeral Homes and Cremation’s mission includes, among other things, providing what company officials describes as “paramount services to the families we serve with dignity, honor, and trust.”

THE PROVERBS 2:3 FACTOR — While the Jackson Massacre undoubtedly was a painful encounter for those affected by the tragedies, Dave doesn’t shy away from the notion that his company went to great lengths to meet a massive and dire need — with God, its Helper, leading the way.

“As a leader in the death industry, we enhance the experience of laying a loved one to rest through a personalized and caring process of education and full disclosure,” said a spokesperson for Allen Dave Funeral Homes and Cremation in a detailed synopsis of the company at http://www.allendave.com. “We are keenly aware of the financial impact death has on a family and will maintain systems and services that minimize cost while maximizing the experience.

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6 KJV)

DALLAS — Long before Annie Ezell became the First Lady of Latter Rain Church of God In Christ in nearby Sherman, Texas, God had strategically introduced her to an awe-inspiring vision, one that essentially unfolded nearly four decades ago.

“The vision of me becoming an author started to form when I was in my 20’s,” Ezell told Making Headline News this week. “It was difficult to take the first step or know where to begin, but I knew it was a long-term goal.”

Indeed it was.

And so it came to pass sometime in 2012 that Ezell began to diligently work her vision as a newcomer to this ever-so-popular world of authorship, a trend that was culminated approximately two years later when she witnessed her compelling finished project that is entitled, “Making Decisions Is Not Always Easy: A Memoir Of Unspoken Words.”

GOD’S LEADING FIRST LADY — And so it came to pass sometime in 2012 that Sherman, Texas author Annie Ezell began to diligently work her vision as a newcomer to ever-so-popular world of authorship, a trend that was culminated approximately two years when she witnessed her finished project that is entitled, “Making Decisions Is Not Always Easy: A Memoir Of Unspoken Words.”

A spiritually-enhancing written document that is comprised of 72 pages in length, Ezell’s “Making Decisions Is Not Always Easy: A Memoir Of Unspoken Words” was officially released in March 2014 and, much to her delight, has become a fixture throughout the Body of Christ.

“This memoir is a reminder that better days are ahead if you make the right decisions,” said a spokesperson for Ezell’s book in a detailed breakdown of her work at Amazon.com. “For Annie Ezell, making the right decisions only came through patience, prayer, and learning from her experiences. Life events from a young child into adulthood have conditioned her to help guide others through difficult decisions.

MASSIVE KINGDOM IMPACT — A spiritually-enhancing written document is comprised of 72 pages in length, Ezell’s “Making Decisions Is Not Always Easy: A Memoir Of Unspoken Words” was officially released in March 2014 and has become a fixture throughout the Body of Christ.

“Her wisdom comes from spiritual guidance and obedience to her calling to encourage others to not give up when they are faced with a difficult situation. Her appearance doesn’t tell the story: Open the cover to discover the truth about her life.”

As Ezell, 60, eloquently explained, she had always sensed that she would eventually find her way to the ideal platform to share of her assortment of testimonies, as God’s manual encourages us, according to Psalm 105:1.

Now that it all has come to pass, she doesn’t shy away from the notion that, well, He was there all the time (as the classic gospel song goes).

“I always wanted to tell my story, but I had some reserve, because of the layers of pain it would evoke,” Ezell, a native of Haworth, Oklahoma, said. “This particular publication came later after the experience of losing my mother. I wanted others to understand that when they are faced with difficult decisions, there is a system to defeating self-doubt and pain.”

Interestingly, Ezell will be afforded the golden opportunity to promote her book and share of her testimonies as the keynote speaker on October 13 during a Women’s Conference.

Accompanied by the theme, “Forgiven But Not Healed (Matthew 6:14-15),” this assembly will take place at the United Way Building, located at 713 East Brockett Street in Sherman, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. CST.

As for ways in which her book is synonymous to the purpose for which God created her, Ezell emphasized, among other things, that her reading audience should look no further than her solid, relentless faith walk.

“This book is a part of my purpose by allowing me to testify and be a witness of faith, obedience, and victory. It became my platform for speaking to women of all status. It also built my confidence that led me to develop the Forgiven But Not Healed as a Women’s Ministry.” — Lady Annie Ezell

Widely known as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and counselor, Ezell founded her Forgiven But Not Healed ministry two years ago. Initially, it started as a small women’s ministry that was centered mostly on Q&A sessions.

“We (would) gather and have open discussion about salvation and forgiveness on a monthly basis, helping women through their pained experiences and quest to forgiveness,” Ezell said her ministry, which has evolved into more of a spiritual movement, of sorts. “This year will be the first conference inviting attendees from the sessions and is open to the public.”

Prior to their appointment as spiritual leaders, Latter Rain was guided by Elder Clevester and Gladys Johnson

“The support from my husband, children, and spiritual leaders has pushed me to be a virtuous woman, having faith and praying fervently for my family,” Lady Ezell said.

Dallas/Fort Worth author Mel Brown McGinnis’ newly-released book drawing a variety of rave reviews

MAKING HEADLINE NEWS WELCOMES MEL BROWN MCGINNIS

Come unto Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28)

DALLAS — For Mel Brown McGinnis, age isn’t merely just a number, particularly as it pertains to her immeasurable gifts as a writer.

Consider, for instance, how at just the tender age of 14, McGinnis was appropriately introduced to her awe-inspiring gift as a writer, an introduction that, much to her delight, was orchestrated by God Almighty.

“I’ve known since I was 14 years old that writing is my calling and my God-given gift,” McGinnis told Making Headline News this week. “I’ve been writing poetry since that time, but was never in a position to publish my work.”

CONSTANT PAGE TUNER — Dallas/Fort Worth-area author Mel Brown McGinnis is a little less than two months removed from having witnessed the much-anticipated release of her book entitled, “Reflections Of Life: A Collection Of Poetry, Prose, And Images.” (Photos By Lynsey Wade)

Fortunately for McGinnis, that all changed some four years ago.

That’s because in 2014, this Louisiana native began working diligently on her novel.

Never mind that she consequently endured the dreaded writer’s block or, as she recalls, she “couldn’t quite move the story and the characters forward.”

Fast forward to some three years later, September 2017 to be exact.

“I was having dinner with an author friend of mine and we were discussing the timeline for finishing my book,” McGinnis explained. “I mentioned to her that I didn’t know if I was quite ready to move forward with the novel, but that I had all of these poems that I had written a few years back that really helped me to get through some dark days.”

LOUISIANA PURCHASE — A spiritually-enhancing and kingdom-advancing written work that is comprised of 134 pages, McGinnis’ “Reflections Of Life: A Collection Of Poetry, Prose, And Images” is the debut literary work of this remarkably brilliant author and poet.

It was, by all accounts, because of those darks — those spiritually challenging and wilderness experiences — that have greatly helped propel McGinnis to authorship greatness.

That’s because McGinnis is a little less than two months removed from having witnessed the much-anticipated release of her book entitled, “Reflections Of Life: A Collection Of Poetry, Prose, And Images.”

A spiritually-enhancing and kingdom-advancing written work that is comprised of 134 pages, McGinnis’ “Reflections Of Life: A Collection Of Poetry, Prose, And Images” is the debut literary work of this remarkably brilliant author and poet from the small town of Monroe, Louisiana.

“This compilation takes you on a journey of love, loss and triumph,” said a spokesperson for McGinnis’ new book in a thorough breakdown at Amazon.com. Reflections is a collection of inspirational poetry, prose, and pictures from all over the world taken by the author during her travels, including selections from the author’s photo collection, ‘Natural Elements.’ The poetry, prose, and images work together to tell stories of empowering women, finding love after heartbreak, advocating against domestic violence, navigating the political landscape, creating pathways to success from humble beginnings, reveling in a love of sports, and paying tribute to a musical legend.”

What’s even more astounding for McGinnis is that since the recent release of her book, she’s managed to garner an array of rave reviews, many of which have blanketed her social media timelines.

A licensed attorney and certified sports agent, McGinnis holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature with a minor in Mass Communications and Journalism from Louisiana State University.

STANDING OVATION — What’s even more astounding for McGinnis is that since the recent release of her book, she’s managed to garner an array of rave reviews, many of which have blanketed her social media timelines.

“The message that God is using me to deliver is that no matter how dark the days may be, never give up on yourself and never give up on your dreams,” McGinnis said. “I use this book to discuss themes of women’s empowerment and advocating against domestic violence.”

McGinnis said a percentage of sales from her book are donated to Women Called Moses, a local nonprofit organization that provides resources and support for victims of domestic violence.

Credit McGinnis’ keen ability to press and navigate through arguably the toughest of times, coupled with her devout faith in God, as amongst the grandest reasons her Creator essentially handpicked her for such a time as now to advance His kingdom, most notably through her endeavor as an author.

“After a difficult divorce, I was in a very dark place mentally,” McGinnis explained. “I didn’t know how to move forward in my life and I struggled just to get through each day. I would pray to God and say, ‘Ok God, so let’s make a deal. If You will just give me the strength to get through the day and get back to my car, then I can just cry when I get in the car on my way home. But please don’t let me have a breakdown at work.’

SEE THE TRAILER FOR MORE OF MEL’S BOOK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Dx-m_kim_Q

“I cried every day literally for six months straight, and I just didn’t think I was going to get through it,” McGinnis continued. “But I did. One day, I went home and I said, today will be the last day I cry about this. And it was. Prayer was my source of strength. I just want people to know that no matter how hard things get, have faith in God and His plan for your life, and you can get through anything.”

Fortunately for McGinnis, she has been afforded the golden opportunity to make public appearances to promote her newly-assembled book which, in essence, is a unique ministry, of sorts, in its own right.

VIRTUOUS WOMAN — McGinnis is having an immediate and massive impact as an author, this having recently made her authorship debut.

Following what was a busy past few weeks, during which her book has become a constant fixture in the community and on the literary circuit, McGinnis will continue her book tour with a return to her native establishment of Monroe to host what is known as “Conversations With Mel.” This event will involve a Q & A segment and book signing and will take place at the Ouachita Parish Library on October 12.

McGinnis is scheduled to host a similar event on October 13 at the Louisiana Cotton Museum in nearby Lake Providence, where she was raised during the early years of her life.

Also, she will stop in Fort Worth, where she will attend the Women In Local Government Summit that is known as Women in Leadership: A Seat at the Table on October 25, during which she will be a guest speaker and a panelist, but isn’t expected to promote her book.

BUT GOD — Credit McGinnis’ keen ability to press and navigate through arguably the toughest of times, coupled with her devout faith in God, as amongst the reasons her Creator essentially handpicked her for such a time as now to advance His kingdom.

However, she will be promoting “Poetry & Prose” on October 28, which will be highlighted by live readings and a book signing at Victory Drinklab in New Orleans.

In wrapping up the tour, McGinnis will be on hand for “Conversations From The White Sofa” that is powered by the Book Club Brunch, an event that will take place in February 3, 2019 in Plano, Texas.

Talk about having an immediate and massive impact as an author, this having recently made her authorship debut.

“I am first a child of God, and I truly believe I can do all things through Christ Who strengthens me,” McGinnis said. “I would hope to inspire others to believe the same.”

GOD’S LEADING LADY — Fortunately for McGinnis, a proud alumnus of Louisiana State University, she has been afforded the golden opportunity to make public appearances to promote her newly-assembled book which, in essence, is a unique ministry, of sorts, in its own right.

That she’s certainly doing with God, her Helper, leading the way.

Former pro baseball icons to be honored during Joaquina Winslow’s inaugural Mayors And Players Gala Oct. 12

MAKING HEADLINE NEWS WELCOMES JOAQUINA WINSLOW

Joaquina Winslow isn’t just widely known as a notable ambassador throughout the Houston metropolitan area.

Interestingly, she’s a sports enthusiast in her own right.

So much, in fact, that Winslow’s Pure Urban Excellence LLC is will hold its inaugural Mayors And Players Gala.

BRIDGING MASSIVE GAPS — Longtime businesswoman Joaquina Winslow’s Pure Urban Excellence LLC is will hold its inaugural Mayors And Players Gala.

The event will take place on October 12 from 5 to 10 p.m. CST at Sugar Land Marriott Town Square, located at 16090 City Walk in Sugar Land, Texas.

A star-studded event that is expected to attract a host of politicians, as well as current and former professional athletes and sports media types, the Mayors And Players Gala will be centered largely on bridging the gap between athletes and politicians, particularly during an era in which social injustice is seemingly dominating headlines.

“This is a great chance for politicians to meet and interacts with the athletes,” Winslow, a native of Baton Rouge, told Making Headline News during a recent interview.

Most importantly, bridging what undoubtedly is a massive gap between these professionals will be the primary focus during this event, Winslow emphasized.

“It’s going to show that players and politicians can be in the same room,” said Winslow, an accomplished businesswoman who is the chief executive officer of the Baton Rouge-based Black Wall Street, a Christian-based movement that was founded in 2014.

Also, during Winslow’s inaugural gala, attendees will have the chance to witness former baseball legends, Grover “Deacon” Jones and J. R. Richard, share the platform, as well as be honored for their valiant contributions to professional sports and society.

PAVING THE WAY — A former Ithaca College star, Grover “Deacon” Jones threw right-handed, but batted left-handed and enjoyed an 11-year minor-league stint that began in 1955 through 1969, during which he batted .319 with 154 home runs and a slugging percentage of .528.

A retired player, coach, manager, and scout, Jones, 84, appeared in 40 Major League games as a first baseman and pinch hitter for the Chicago White Sox, first from 1962–63 and then in 1966.

A former Ithaca College star, Jones threw right-handed, but batted left-handed and enjoyed an 11-year minor-league stint that began in 1955 through 1969, during which he batted .319 with 154 home runs and a slugging percentage of .528.

Interestingly, Jones still holds the Midwest League record for the highest single-season batting average when he hit .409 for the Dubuque Packers in 1956. He also compiled 135 hits to accompany 26 homers and manufactured a .758 slugging percentage in only 330 at-bats.

LEAST WE FORGET — Selected with the second overall pick in the 1969 Amateur Draft by the Astros directly out of high school, J. R. Richard had ultimately made his Major League debut two seasons later, a stint that lasted through the end of the 1975 season.

As for Richard, 68, he also enjoyed a successful professional career as a starting pitcher in the big leagues from 1971 through 1980 as a member of the Houston Astros.

Selected with the second overall pick in the 1969 Amateur Draft by the Astros directly out of high school, Richard had ultimately made his Major League debut two seasons later, a stint that lasted through the end of the 1975 season.

While assuming a limited role with the Astros, Richard tossed no more than 72 innings in a season but, in 1975, he enjoyed his first full season in the majors as a starting pitcher.

SHE’S GOT CONNECTIONS —  Also, during Winslow’s inaugural gala, attendees will have the chance to witness former baseball legends, Grover “Deacon” Jones and J. R. Richard, share the platform, as well as be honored for their valiant contributions to professional sports and society.

As for her forthcoming gala, while Winslow is especially grateful to attract a gallery of big name political figures and former athletes, she emphasized that other pertinent issues and information will be addressed.

“A lot of stem cell therapy will be talked about,” said Winslow, referring to her Pure Urban Excellence movement. “So that’s an aspect I want to highlight as well.”

Prior to the start of the Mayors And Players Gala, a red carpet event will take place at 5 p.m.
