EDITOR’S NOTE: This is the first of a two-part series of Making Headline News’ coverage of Dr. Malcolm Adams, IAEE, who is vying for a seat in the Georgia House of Representatives District 112. The primary elections is June 9. The general election is November 3.
BREAKING BARRIERS
“Your story is what you have, what you will always have. It is something to own.” — Michelle Obama
For Dr. Malcolm Adams, IAEE, it could be appropriately described as some infamous bulletin board material that has rested in his spirit for virtually his entire life.
Because of the divine calling on his life, he had every reason not to place it by the wayside — those disheartening discouraging predictions people rendered against him in an attempt to deter him from fulfilling the purpose for which God was created.
“Well, they called me retarded and said that I would never amount to anything, ‘just like my father,’” Dr. Adams, during an exclusive interview this with Making Headline News, recalling how during his upbringing, he’s managed to defy arguably the toughest of odds. “The look of mortification when people who thought they knew my limitations would bind me, see me now, is priceless. Achieving time freedom is the most special part, though.”
Much to Dr. Adams’ delight, that he has cleared arguably life’s toughest of hurdles has caused many who essentially underestimated his tenacity and perseverance to excel to transcend from dauntlessly professing “You wouldn’t amount to anything” to “Is there anything Dr. Adams can’t do?”

“Not having my father around and my mother being orphaned created a state of dislocation,” Dr. Adams, a native of Charlotte, North Carolina and the Founder and Chief Economist of Purposeful Economist, explained. “It has not been a smooth road. Some of my struggles included having no father, being atypical (or autism spectrum disorder), my mother becoming disabled, troubles within the education system, homelessness, challenges within the workforce, not having systems, being denied contracts, having money and equipment stolen, discrimination in conservative industries and staffing issues.”
All things considered, Dr. Adams, 40, was determined to defy the toughest of odds, destined to break massive barriers and generational curses, empowered to — in keeping it 100 — prove his doubters wrong.
Surely, he will be afforded the golden opportunity to do it once again now that he has announced that he’s vying for a seat in the Georgia House of Representatives District 112.
The primary elections is June 9. The general election is November 3.
If Dr. Adams unseats incumbent, Republican Dave Belton, he will serve two-year terms, which are not subject to term limits.
Georgia legislators assume office the second Monday in January.
Having first envisioned delving off into the competitive world of politics at the tender age of 14, Dr. Adams senses that his time has finally arrived to take yet another massive step toward his destiny, all the while being armed with the bulletin board material from the past.
“I was determined to prove them wrong and outperform and actualize my potential,” said Dr. Adams, who’s miraculously gone from earning a GED to an honorary doctorate. “My primary motivation is my obsession with completing my objectives.”
Vying for his first ever political seat, Dr. Adams doesn’t shy away from the notion that emerging victorious won’t merely come easy. Still, he’s fully persuaded he steadfastly possesses the precocity to accomplish his ultimate goal.
Dr. Adams’ strategic policies, he said, are centered largely on:
-
To present sustainable development goals statewide and locally that will put properties back on the tax roll and put people to work in perpetuity and,
-
Land + Labor + Capital = Economic Development. “As an economist, I will accelerate economic growth through entrepreneurship initiatives,” Dr. Adams said. “I pledge to scale the education system to not only prove the current one obsolete but help current and future students achieve rapid success.”
In addition, Dr. Adams acknowledged he will propose a healthcare policy that provides coverage specifically for all citizens.
“After all, the better off we all are, the better off we all are,” Dr. Adams said.
As Dr. Adams diligently readies for what figures to an intense election, he admittedly feels good about his chances of staging an upset.
“If Malcolm Adams wins this election, it will be the first time a former homeless, autistic kid became a lawmaker. History will be made,” he said.
Manufacturing his own bulletin board material in the process.
