Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. (Galatians 5:1 KJV)
NO MASK NECESSARY
At the end of the real day, Pastors — like every human being — are human.
Why is that so hard for the modern-day church to grasp such a notable fact?
“God gave the idea to write this book after hearing about yet another Pastor who had killed himself,” Shalonda “Treasure” Williams, during an interview this week with Making Headline News, said, recalling the horrific, tragic developments that ultimately led to a Pastor’s untimely demise.
Whether Williams actually knew the fallen man of cloth remains unclear, one thing is absolutely certain, the Savannah, Georgia-based author vividly disclosed in her empowering new book entitled, Nawww…I’m Not Ok!: Excuse Me While I Unmask.
That is, from the parking lot to the pulpit, people who have been christened as God’s anointed spokespersons, too, often endure their share of hardships and turmoil and adversity, some of which are ongoing mental battles, in many aspects.

“Hearing this type of news broke me,” Williams, an accomplished Minister, Inspirational Speaker, and Christian Life Coach, said. “It hurt because I knew, firsthand, the weight of being called to ministry. I also knew how heavy the pressure was to measure up and pretend like everything is all good when it really isn’t.”
A book that is comprised of 140 pages in length, Nawww…I’m Not Ok!: Excuse Me While I Unmask made its ceremonious release on Williams’ 38th birthday last year (July 11, 2019).
For starters, Williams deemed it essential to provide her readers with an eloquent synopsis of what “unmask” actually means, according to a detailed introduction of her latest book at Amazon.com.
“There must be something that is obstructing the view of a person’s face,” said an Amazon spokesperson for Williams’ Nawww…I’m Not Ok!: Excuse Me While I Unmask. “Once the mask is removed, then others will be able to see what was beneath the thing all along. When it comes to us as individuals, we tend to wear all types of masks, but yet we also want genuine relationships that are honest and that we bear all.
WHEN ALL ELSE FAILS…
“There has to come a day that we can be saved, love the Lord our God with all of our hearts, and yet find the voice to be honest. Truthfully, it’s not as if we can hide from Him behind a mask anyway. He sees all. So, what if today was the day that we chose to be open and bear it all before Him in order to be free and happy once and for all?”
In processing the devastating news of the Pastor’s apparent suicide, Williams sensed there is something she could have done if, by chance, she was aware of the strongholds that hampered the minster’s ability to seek God for a divine sense of direction.
“As a Certified Life Coach whose signature program is about unmasking, it hurt me that I couldn’t personally help,” Williams said. “So, I wrote it, as God had instructed.”
Having made her authorship debut in 2007, Williams has written nine books to date, nearly half of which are collaborative projects.
A native of Fort Valley, Georgia, Williams also composed:
- Back To The Basics, released in 2007
- A Heart’s Thoughts, released in 2009
- PurposeFull You: You Are Full Of Great Purpose, released in 2010
- Let’s ‘GO’!: Get Over to Get On With Life, released in 2010
- All I Do Is W.I.N., released in 2014
- From Trash To Treasure, released in 2015
- Just A Closer Walking, released in 2019
- Lord Help My Hurt, released in 2019 and,
- Excuse Me While I Unmask Guidance Journal, released in 2019.
As Williams recalls, a majority of the feedback and testimonials she’s garnered have come amid the release From Trash To Treasure and Nawww…I’m Not Ok!: Excuse Me While I Unmask.
As for how her assortment of written works align with her God-ordained purpose, Williams said: “As an ordained Minister and Prophet, Certified Life Coach, award-winning Inspirational Speaker and best-selling author, I’ve had to learn how to bring me all together into one person to write these. God has purposed me to inspire, and He made it even more possible through the words of these books.”
Other books are the horizon, Williams said, most notably devotionals, guided journals, inspirational books, “but the testimonial and memoir style books are going to be center stage for a while,” she said.
Interestingly, Williams announced she will be hosting what she has dubbed the “Unmasking Tour,” which is scheduled to take much sooner than later.
Also, she said plans are also in the works to take part in what is known as the Black Authors Matter book tour.

“And because we are not getting out too much, I will be doing another virtual “Unmask & Chat” coming up soon,” said Williams, referring to the COVID-19 pandemic that has either delayed and led to cancellations of most events.
“I’m honored that Father God chose me for a time such as this. So many people are suffocating behind their masks, and they feel like they are alone. He has entrusted me with this transparent ministry and this best-seller so that His children will know that they have permission to breathe once again.”
Because after all, we all are all human, yet precious in the sight of God.
