She considers a field and buys it; with the fruit of her hands, she plants a vineyard. (Proverbs 31:16 ESV)
DESTINED TO LEAD
Nine and counting.
That is the number of books Dr. Karen Hills Pruden has penned to date.
Much to her delight, her latest written work is one that figures to impact generations for years to come.
A Virginia Beach businesswoman and empowerment extraordinaire in her own right, Dr. Pruden is the visionary behind Complicated Alliances: Accounts Of Career Women In The U.S. Armed Forces And Women Who Love Men In The U.S. Armed Forces, her highly-anticipated Amazon bestselling anthology that to made its ceremonious debut in April 2021.
A book that is comprised of nine co-authors and was highlighted by a virtual launch this week, Dr. Pruden’s Complicated Alliances: Accounts Of Career Women In The U.S. Armed Forces And Women Who Love Men In The U.S. Armed Forces is designed in large part to strategically bring about awareness, particularly amongst what this author describes as “the bias that women experienced because of the gaps in employment on their resume simply because their husband changed jobs had to be revealed,” Dr. Pruden told Making Headline News this week.

As Dr. Pruden further explains, her motivation for engineering such an informative and thought-provoking book is due in large part to the notion that there is no law to protect against such biases in the workforce.
“It is simply wrong and needed to be called out,” Dr. Pruden said rather bluntly.
Dr. Pruden’s latest book comes approximately nine months after her featured 105-page written work, Principles:10 Strategies To Propel Women To The C-Suite, was officially released in July 2020.
“I wrote the introduction after I read the women’s stories submitted as part of the book project,” said Dr. Pruden, the owner and CEO of Virginia Beach, Virginia-based Pruden Global Business Solutions Consulting LLC. “A woman is an entire being. Do not judge us based on external characteristics such as a resume. We are more complex than what you can see on a resume. You must talk to us to get the entire story.”
Weeks prior to the virtual launch of her newest published work, Dr. Pruden had become the beneficiary of much favorable feedback when word spread of the forthcoming release of Complicated Alliances: Accounts Of Career Women In The U.S. Armed Forces And Women Who Love Men In The U.S. Armed Forces.

“(People have told me) that the book is a one-of-a-kind publication whereby women who are in the military and women who are spouses of military men are able to tell the impact on their careers,” Dr. Pruden said. “I am constantly told these experiences needed to be heard.”
Besides Complicated Alliances: Accounts Of Career Women In The U.S. Armed Forces And Women Who Love Men In The U.S. Armed Forces and Principles:10 Strategies To Propel Women To The C-Suite, Dr. Pruden authored the following written works:
- Undeterred: Success Stories of Female Leaders who Pursued A Seat at the Table Despite Setbacks, released in 2020.
- Courageous Enough To Launch: Stories and Strategies of Every Day Women Who Faced Their Fears To Launch & Grow Thriving Businesses, released in 2020.

Interestingly enough, Books 10 and 11, she announced, are currently in the works: Sister Leaders: Reflections and Success Stories Of Women Leaders Who Purposely Collaborate With Other Women and HR Confidential.
Projected dates for these books weren’t immediately disclosed.
When asked in what ways is her latest book a part of the purpose for which God has created her, Dr. Pruden said, “I am the founder of a community of diverse, multigenerational women who share education, experiences, resources and networks to create a legacy of female leaders. The community is called Sister Leaders. I am appalled at any barrier that delay or stop a woman from reaching her full potential.
“God gave me the vision some time ago (to move forward with the anthology), but I was not obedient at the time. I moved on the vison this year. My spirit told me it was time.”
To her credit, it undoubtedly has been time well spent.
