EDITOR’S NOTE: In honor of the fervent buzz surrounding Mid-South Author Charlotte Gillespie’s featured book, Making Headline News deemed it essential to label this news story our annual Christmas Special Report.
For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. (Romans 8:18 NKJV)
SEASON OF SURVIVAL
For Charlotte Gillespie, while the vision to which God had introduced her was delayed, it still had ultimately come to fruition.
To God be the glory.
“God gave me the vision over two years ago and I never set my mind to do it,” Gillespie, during an interview this week with Making Headline News, said, recalling her most celebrated authorship project. “In January of 2021, I wrote my story.”
The story to which Gillespie is alluding is a rather, life-altering, awe-inspiring journey, one that has blossomed masterfully into a spiritually-empowering book for the ages.
Gillespie, a 28-year-old Mid-South author and certified childcare director in the state of Mississippi, is the mastermind behind I Survived, her featured written work that made its ceremonious release on May 17, 2021.
An emotionally-driven, tear-jerking book that is comprised of 66 pages in length and jumpstarted Gillespie’s authorship debut, I Survived chronicles the life of a young lady born and raised in Olive Branch, Mississippi, as mentioned in a detailed synopsis of her book at Amazon.com. Generally, Gillespie experienced what she appropriately describes as a “faith walk through life,” one that would ultimately emerge as her heartfelt testimony for years to come.

The oldest of the two children by her mother and the middle of three by her biological father, Gillespie’s memorable journey, in her estimation, is what consequently brought her to the woman she is today, she tells her reading audience.
“I stand today as a Christian, as a young lady, and to encourage the people of the world with my testimony,” Gillespie writes in her Amazon introduction of her book. “I end by saying God has been good to this young lady…I can stand and say I SURVIVED!”
Interestingly enough, Gillespie needed somewhere in the neighborhood of two months to produce her latest book, having commenced to composing I Survived on January 15, 2021 and finishing it on March 23, 2021, she told MHN.
SEASON OF A REBIRTH
A native Mississippian, Gillespie, ever since her youth, has been described as an “ECMO baby,” this after being diagnosed with a severe illness.
Suitably called extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, ECMO occurs when blood is pumped outside of your body to a heart-lung machine that removes carbon dioxide and sends oxygen-filled blood back to tissues in the body, according to an overview of this condition at https://www.mayoclinic.org/tests-procedures/ecmo/about/pac-20484615. Generally, blood flows from the right side of the heart to the membrane oxygenator in the heart-lung machine, and then is rewarmed and sent back to the body.
According to the Mayo Clinic report, this method allows the blood to bypass the heart and lungs, allowing these organs to rest and heal.

Also, ECMO is used in critical care situations, particularly when your heart and lungs need help so that you can heal. It may be used in care for COVID-19, ARDS, and other infections.
“The doctors told my family, ‘No.’ But God had a different answer,” Gillespie said in her brief bio that accompanies her featured book at Amazon.com. “Twenty-eight years later, I’m still here. That is basically what I Survived is about. I am a Christian. I’m a Church Girl. I believe in going, working, and partnering in the house of God. God has been good to me. I am just a young lady that’s living life to the fullest, day by day.”
Since the release of I Survived, Gillespie was one of 10 co-authors to contribute to A Rise to Royalty: A Book Anthology that is spearheaded by Ilyasah A. Simpson and debuted in June.
As for I Survived, Gillespie said: “The (divine) message I’m sending is that whatever you’re going through, keep praying and believing…God can and will heal. I am honored to encourage God’s people with my personal testimony through my writing.”

Never mind that the vision to which God had introduced her was delayed.
All that matters, really, is that it eventually came to fruition.
To God be the glory.
