Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. (Psalm 51:10 NKJV)
REAPING A HARVEST
Chris Pugh tried the best he possibly could to keep his life intact when he bolted college.
Unfortunately for him, he would ultimately find himself on the wrong side of the law.
“After leaving college, as I was looking to find value in myself and looking to find my placement in life, I experienced various types of occupations,” Pugh told Making Headline News this week as part its Making Headline News’ 2022 Essence Festival coverage. “From multi-level marketing, to temp service assignments, to day labor positions.
“After flirting with the various job types and finding nothing that seemed to provide the upward mobility I was seeking, I foolishly resorted to an occupation I picked up while in college as I was attempting to avoid nightly hunger pains…that of the weed man,” Pugh continued. “After a few brushes with the local law enforcement and collecting a couple of felonies for my efforts, I decided to try my hand back with the aforementioned legal options. It was during this process that it became apparent that due to my criminal record at the time, that I became what America deemed ‘unemployable.’”

So downtrodden and dysfunctional Pugh’s life had come amid his rash of transgressions that he subsequently shifted his focus on the very thing that would eventually provide him with the breakthrough he so desperately sought.
His faith.
“I realized I was a lost soul and felt as if my post-college life decisions had ruined my life forever,” Pugh explained. “It was this juncture in life that I gave my life over to Christ and handed Him the keys to my life and told Him wherever He wanted to take me, I was willing to go and I was going to enjoy the view from the passenger seat.”
Fortunately for Pugh, his highly-anticipated season of a turnaround had finally come to fruition in 2007, he vividly recalls.
“(God) is still driving the vehicle,” said Pugh, “and I’m enjoying the view.”
Indeed, he is. And much to his delight, Pugh doesn’t merely take lightly how God keeps providing for him a way of escape — time and time and again.

A little more than a decade-and-a-half removed from conquering what undoubtedly was a crossroads in his life, Pugh can boldly profess to have adopted a new lease on life, most notably in this ever-evolving world of entrepreneurship.
Approximately one year after surrendering his life to Jesus Christ, Pugh was blessed mightily to establish CB Pugh Enterprises, LLC, his Garner, North Carolina-based professional custom home-building company that has become a fixture for customarily providing a wide range of custom home-building and rehabilitation services at affordable rates.
A progressive, flourishing company that is widely regarded as “working in the prime states of the USA,” Pugh said, CB Pugh Enterprises has made its presence felt in a number of establishments, including North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.

“We are a licensed general contractor, providing a wide range of custom home-building and rehabilitation services at affordable rates,” said a spokesperson for Pugh’s featured business endeavor in a detailed description of his company at https://pughbuilders.net/about-us/. “With the mission of revolutionizing the custom home building industry, we have established Pugh Builders General Contractor’s Academy in Raleigh, North Carolina, where we are changing the lives of people who desire to build a career in construction industry as a licensed general contractor.”
Having acquired his North Carolina General Contractors license in 2008, Pugh’s Builders General Contractor’s Academy officially went into operations in 2014.
“I started the Pugh Builders General Contractors Academy with the purpose of assisting individuals in learning the ABC’s and 123’s of becoming sought after custom homebuilders,” Pugh, a rising motivational speaker, said. “At the PBGCA, we provide our participants with tangible new construction practices and processes. As a practicing licensed builder, PBGCA participants are able to glean knowledge from over 16 years of hands-on experience. Our training model consists of classroom instruction (123’s) as well as field instruction (ABC’s) as we aim to equip the next legion of general contractors to address the nationwide housing shortage we currently face in America.”

Despite the rash of obstacles he endured years before delving off into entrepreneurship, Pugh said it was his dreaded season in the wilderness that, by all accounts, fueled his drive to turn away from ill-advised decisions and become solely dependent on God.
All things considered, he hasn’t looked back since.
“(I want) to give God all the glory and praise for changing my life and (allowing me to) be an example as to what He can and will do for others if they put Him first and pursue their dreams,” Pugh said. “Really, all my inspiration comes from my personal debt to God as He saw I needed His assistance in my life and, once I surrendered to Him, He began to change the dynamics of my life and opened doors that I couldn’t have opened on my own.”
Not to mentioned helping him to keep it his life intact.
Yep. That’s just like God.
