See how good and pleasant it is when brothers and sisters live together in harmony! (Psalm 133:1/God’s Word Translation)

An empowerment assembly that resumes in-person for the first time amid the unprecedented global pandemic, Mumphery said her event, as usual, is centered in large part on paying homage to those whom she suitably deems “our everyday unsung heroes.”
“(We want to salute) women who have survived traumatic situations in their lives such as homelessness, drug addiction, domestic violence, illnesses, burn victims, mothers of murdered children, those who are serving the country, and those who are making a difference in the world,” Mumphery told Making Headline News. “We are also honoring men that are survivors and world changers. We provide a platform and an entire evening to shine the light on those individuals as we celebrate their strength and to let them know that we see and appreciate them.”

Amongst the notable dignitaries who will be honored during the RTB Women Winning I’m Still Standing Winning Red Carpet Women Awards Ceremony is Wanda Cooper-Jones, the mother of Ahmaud Arbery.
A then-25-year-old black man, Arbery in February 2020 was murdered during a racially-motivated hate crime while jogging in Satilla Shores, a neighborhood near Brunswick in Glynn County, Georgia.
Erroneously assuming he was a burglar, three white men pursued Arbery in their trucks for several minutes, using the vehicles to block his path as he tried to run away.
Two of the men, Travis McMichael and his father, Gregory McMichael, were armed in one vehicle. Their neighbor, William “Roddie” Bryan, was in another vehicle.
After overtaking Arbery, Travis McMichael exited his truck and assaulted Arbery with a shotgun. As Arbery attempted to defend himself, Travis McMichael fatally shot him. Bryan recorded this confrontation and Arbery’s murder on his cell phone.
Consequently, the video would ultimately go viral via YouTube and Twitter, thus prompting the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) to arrest the McMichaels on May 7 and Bryan two weeks later, charging them with felony murder and other crimes.
WE SHALL OVERCOME
Meanwhile, the case was ultimately transferred to the Cobb County District Attorney’s Office and, on June 24, a grand jury indicted each of the three men on charges of malice murder, felony murder, and other crimes.
Their trial began in November 2021 in the Glynn County Superior Court, where all three were convicted weeks later of felony murder, aggravated assault, false imprisonment, and criminal attempt to commit false imprisonment.
As for the forthcoming RTB Women Winning I’m Still Standing Winning Red Carpet Women Awards Ceremony, this year’s theme is “I Made It Through,” organizers for this event announced.
Ironically, the seventh annual awards ceremony will take place Juneteenth weekend, something by which Mumphery and Co. don’t take lightly.
“People are excited and anticipating what’s going to take place, who’s going to be honored, the entertainment, food, and overall, just coming together again in-person to celebrate and enjoy the evening,” Mumphery, suitably known as “SylindaD,” told MHN. “The Foundation’s goal is to change lives and help others to see that there is a way out.”
The founder of Girls To Pearls Mentoring Program and Removing The Bandages Women’s Movement and Gloww Sisterhood, Mumphery serves as the co-facilitator for My Sisters Keeper Cordele. Her movement has been deemed “very powerful,” in large part because it allows her to grace many platforms and stages as she speaks into the lives of women, encouraging them to expose their wounds, undress the mess and allow healing to begin.
