DALLAS — To her distinctly unique credit, Seletha M. Head-Tucker’s entrepreneurial track record is such that she’s destined to empower others to become better versions of themselves.
“My motto is, ‘Our Books, Our Lives, Our Stories,’” Head Tucker, 61, told Making Headline News during a recent interview.
As part of MHN’s national coverage of Sarah Jakes Roberts Woman Evolve Conference at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, Head-Tucker spoke at length about the awe-inspiring developments that fueled her fervent drive to establish the North Memphis Publishing House, her St. Louis-based featured business endeavor that has become a fixture for publishing books and spearheading stage plays for African-Americans.
“My desire is to get as many of our stories into libraries, schools, stores as I possibly can,” Head-Tucker, a native of Memphis, said. “I never have considered myself competitive, but after I began writing, I saw the need to continue to do what God had planted in me and that was to write.”
SALUTING WOMEN WHO SHAPE OUR WORLD
Having composed 25 books to date, this accomplished educator-turned-author-turned-businesswoman has established a business venture she senses will become one of the finest of its kinds for years to come.
“(I’m determined) to present that gift to others in publishing,” Head-Tucker said. “I believe I first started competing with myself to see how far I could go and then it just sprouted from there.”
And the rest, as they say, was history.
A rising company she started amid the unprecedented global pandemic, Head-Tucker’s North Memphis Publishing Company is steadily attracting a widespread national presence, given she has been afforded golden opportunities to put her immeasurable skills on display in a variety of markets, most notably Texas, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Missouri, among others.
Interestingly enough, Head-Tucker emphasized North Memphis Publishing Company services individuals and groups ranging from children to adults, particularly “those who are trying to tell their stories, she acknowledged, “but I am open to (serving) children because I have written several children’s books.”
Moreover, Head-Tucker has garnered high praise because of her distinct craft in composing stage plays, many of which are centered on customarily ministering to the “needs and hearts” of women.
“The thing I love most about my business is seeing how happy people are when they finally receive a copy of their published stories,” Head-Tucker told MHN. “My mission is to use the gifts and talents God has given me to encourage, inspire, and uplift.”

By all accounts, Head-Tucker relishes her solid support system, one that was spearheaded by her late parents.
“My mother and father inspired me to always do my best and to aim higher than they could have,” Head-Tucker recalls. “My daughter and son inspired me each day to be better because I want them to see that nothing is impossible when you trust God.”

“It is imperative that I esteem and inspire others daily because God has commissioned me to be not only an Evangelist but teacher. God has gifted me, and I want to be found using those gifts.”
