SARAH JAKES ROBERTS’ 2025 WOMAN EVOLVE CONFERENCE ADVANCE NATIONAL COVERAGE: Texas author Carmen Edwards miraculously composes first book before acquiring her GED

Andre Johnson June 12, 2025

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. I know that full well. (Psalm 139:14/NIV)

COMING OUT PARTY

AND IT CAME TO PASS — As part of Making Headline News’ advance national coverage ahead of Sarah Jakes Roberts’ Third Annual Woman Evolve Conference July 31 through August 2 from Atlanta, Georgia, accomplished Greenville, Texas author Carmen Edwards said it was sometime in 2014 when she grasped the vision to compose I’m Coming Out, her first published work that made its ceremonious debut in October 2017.

DALLAS — It doesn’t take much for Carmen Edwards to kick off what could be appropriately deemed her own party.

Consider, for instance, the reel Edwards staged to her social media timeline just after sunrise Wednesday.

While engaging in a customary dance before her more-than-2,000 followers via Facebook, Carmen issued to the masses a rather spirited, thought-provoking message.

It reads:

Have your own party!

Smile!

Dance!

Be You!

For what it’s worth, that essentially is the forthright memo Edwards is steadfastly disclosing to her audience by way of her gallery of books.

MY LIFE, MY LIFE, MY LIFE — “Writing a story about my life, it was healing for me,” Edwards, a native Kansas City, Missouri, said in a detailed synopsis of her initial book via Amazon.com. “So many mixed emotional I went through while putting my life story on paper. I wanted to give up writing this book. It was too much for me.”
MAKING DREAMS A REALITY — In 2020, Edwards witnessed the highly-anticipated release of Never In My Wildest Dreams, her sophomore written work that, much to her delight, is as good as advertised.

A Greenville, Texas faith-based writer, Edwards, 48, is the architect of the following reads: I’m Coming Out, Never In My Wildest Dreams, and Every Day Matters.

Also, she has authored a pair of journals and eBooks, most notably Healing Journey: A Woman’s Guide To Self-Love.

Edwards’ reads are available via Etsy, Amazon, or where books are sold.

As part of Making Headline News’ advance national coverage ahead of Sarah Jakes Roberts’ Third Annual Woman Evolve Conference July 31 through August 2 from Atlanta, Georgia, Edwards said it was sometime in 2014 when she grasped the vision to compose I’m Coming Out, a riveting, 130-page written work that made its ceremonious debut in October 2017.

Interestingly enough, Edwards had become a first-time published author months before earning her GED.

“I got the vision from God back in 2014,” Edwards told MHN. “I was actually in school to get my high school diploma and I wrote the book before I even got my high school (diploma).”

And what a life-altering, tear-jerking read Edwards’ I’m Coming Out has become.

“Writing a story about my life, it was healing for me,” Edwards, a native Kansas City, Missouri, said in a detailed synopsis of her initial book via Amazon.com. “So many mixed emotional I went through while putting my life story on paper. I wanted to give up writing this book. It was too much for me.”

Though Edwards contemplated placing her authorship debut by the wayside, amongst the things she had ultimately come to discover is that I’m Coming Out wasn’t merely about her.

Rather, it was a heaven-mandated assignment.

And, if God said it, that settles it.

“I had to realize how am I going to help my brothers and sister if I can’t be honest with myself,” said Edwards, recalling the rash of obstacles she endured surrounding the production of her first book. “I made so many bad decisions in my lifetime. I felt that it was cool, and I wanted to stand for something. The only one I need to stand for is God, and didn’t want that growing up. It took me to go through a lot of tragedy to get to where I am today. I thank God for saving me from myself.”

STAY WOKE — Comprised of 97 pages, Edwards’ Every Day Matters gives us hope, thus reminds her readers that “every day you wake up matters,” according to a breakdown of this book via Amazon.com.

In essence, Edwards’ I’m Coming Out is centered in large part on this writer’s keen ability to disclose her assortment of testimonies while striving to heal in the process.

Properly heal, to put it more precisely.

“I knew that when I started writing and relieving some things that I’ve been through was a part of my healing journey, and I always say, ‘What you don’t reveal, you won’t heal,’” Edwards said. “I wrote every day for about 30 minutes-to-an-hour until it was done, and I think I was done writing a book probably in four months.”

Three years later, Edwards witnessed the highly-anticipated release of Never In My Wildest Dreams, her sophomore written work that, much to her delight, is as good as advertised.

Accompanied by 159 pages, Edwards’ Never In My Wildest Dreams — like her previous book — discloses a great deal of transparencies, particularly those surrounding her fervent quest of pressing and navigating through arguably life’s toughest of circumstances.

SET ASIDE FOR GOD’S USE — “God has created me to be able to tell my story…to be able to heal so I can allow other women to heal as well,” Edwards, the owner and CEO of Greenville’s Styles4Smiles Salon, told MHN. “I’m not the best writer, but I did write books, and I think as I continue to write more, I will get better and better.”

“Writing my story is healing for me,” Edwards said of Never In My Wildest Dreams via Amazon.com. “Being able to talk about what I’ve been through will allow me to heal. During my writing, many times, I wanted to give up. But in the back of my head, I knew that giving up was not an option.

“Some people may say, ‘Why she write about this?’ I’ve learned not to worry about naysayers. They’re going to talk if you do or don’t. People on the outside looking in and thinking they know how you feel and what you are going through. The only person who can tell you what went on is the person going through it. I hope that my story help you heal from your story.”

BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE — Edwards has authored a pair of journals and eBooks, most notably Healing Journey: A Woman’s Guide To Self-Love.

And then there’s Every Day Matters, Edwards’ third book that debuted in December 2022.

Comprised of 97 pages, Edwards’ Every Day Matters gives us hope, thus reminds her readers that “every day you wake up matters,” according to a breakdown of this book via Amazon.com.

“We can choose how we want our day to be, it matters,” Edwards writes via Amazon. “Everyday matters. I know you may have had some hard times, but you matter. Take the next 30 days with me and release, heal, smile, and believe that you matter.

“We will not allow what we been through stop the great things that can happen in our lives. Learn how to forgive and love you again, because every day matters.”

FULFILLING HER PURPOSE

BE HEALED, BE DELIVERED, BE SET FREE — “I knew that when I started writing and relieving some things that I’ve been through was a part of my healing journey, and I always say, ‘What you don’t reveal, you won’t heal,’” Edwards said. “I wrote every day for about 30 minutes-to-an-hour until it was done, and I think I was done writing a book probably in four months.”

All things considered, Edwards doesn’t shy away from the notion that it took some unshakeable faith, which enable her to put her past hardships and hangups behind her, thus diligently press toward the mark for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

In that order.

“God has created me to be able to tell my story…to be able to heal so I can allow other women to heal as well,” Edwards, the owner and CEO of Greenville’s Styles4Smiles Salon, told MHN. “I’m not the best writer, but I did write books, and I think as I continue to write more, I will get better and better.”

All the while routinely throwing her own party, of course.
