OUTTA DA HOOD AND DOIN’ GOOD — Shaterra J. Gentry was born and raised in a small country town called McNab, Arkansas, an establishment of about 66 individuals, according to the lastest U. S. census. She is a single mother of a four-year-old daughter whom, according to her, is the reason for all of her accomplishments. She is a graduate of Saratoga High School. She accomplished two years of college in General Studies. Shaterra enjoys making others smile and encouraging others. Above all, she keeps God first in all things that she does and lives by Jeremiah 29:11. And just last week, she witnessed her authorship debut unfold when her book, “Hood Chick Delivered,” was officially released.
In case you don’t know her, Shaterra Gentry would like to introduce herself.
For starters, Gentry is a young single mother of a happy-go-lucky daughter whom she credits for virtually all of her accomplishments. Interestingly, Gentry is a native of the small, rural town of McNab, Arkansas which, according to the latest U. S. census that was comprised in 2016, is made up of just 66 individuals.
A graduate of Fulton, Arkansas’ Saratoga High School, Gentry has completed two full years of college and majored in General Studies.
A woman who doesn’t shy away from the notion that she customarily makes God the Focal Point in just about all she does, Gentry is widely known amongst her peers for routinely displaying a positive, spirited countenance with virtually everyone with whom she crosses paths.

Gentry is an accomplished author, whom because she’s accustomed to living her life according to Jeremiah 29:11, sensed all that she would someday witness her name be thrust and carved out on the front cover of a book for all the world to see.
And so it came to pass that sometime in February of 2016, Gentry made her authorship debut as a member of Little Rock-based J. Kenkade Publishing when she began composing her provocative, compelling book entitled, Hood Chick Delivered.
Say what?
“God gave me the vision for my book in the beginning of 2016,” Gentry, during an interview this week with Making Headline News, said with a straight face. “I’ve always wanted to write. I waited on God and the words just came to me as I wrote day in and day out, and I truly thank God for it all.”

Never mind that Hood Chick Delivered was released on Friday the 13th.
Because at the end of the real day, Gentry’s thoroughly convinced that it was all a part of God’s plans, in large because she was strategically assigned to assemble the book as a way to teach her four-year-old daughter a vital lesson as she continues to grow and mature in age.
An informative, intriguing written documents in which Gentry needed just a little more than a year to complete, her first book was finally put to bed eight months ago and officially hit the market last week.
“My main and most important reason for producing my book was mainly to show my daughter that anything is possible, and that she can do anything she sets her mind to,” Gentry said.
More than anything, it seemed, Gentry hinted at the notion that her authorship tenure essentially has jump-started a legacy for her offspring.
A lasting legacy, for the most part.
“I also produced it for her financial stability as a hard-working single mother who’s seen struggle face to face,” Gentry said. “I want her to never face those days, but to stay humble during the process. Writing has always been a passion of mine.”
And because her Creator has strategically elevated her in ways unimaginable through that about which she is passionate, Gentry is especially confident that her reading audience will come to embrace her newly-released book.

“The message I plan to send through my book is showing my audience that no matter what you’ve done or doing, God can still clean the situation up as long as you just open the door and let Him work things out,” said Gentry, sounding like some seasoned, Holy-Ghost-filled evangelist. “I also want to ensure you that although times get tough, don’t give up. Let God fight each battle. You’re never alone, because God is always there.”
Well, that’ll preach — this rich, emphatic word coming from a 23-year-old single mother whose second book (an inspirational project for women, she said) is presently in the works, although she has yet to name it.
GOOD FRIDAY — Never mind that Hood Chick Delivered was released on Friday the 13th. Because at the end of the real day, Gentry’s convinced that it was all a part of God’s plans, in large because she was strategically assigned to assemble the book a way to teach her four-year-old daughter a vital lesson as she continues to grow in age.
And then there is her supporting cast, or those beloved persons who have contributed mightily to Gentry’s sustained success, most notably her pride and joy.
“To my baby girl, Amari Janae Morris,” said Gentry, sounding as if she’s composing an open letter, of sorts, to her daughter. “Dear, baby girl…Mommy will write as many books she can to make sure that by any means, your future is bright, and I’ll be able to help you reach every dream possible. Thank you for coming into mommy’s life and changing it for the better. Thank you for maturing me and giving me hope. Thanks for the many hugs that you didn’t know helped mommy through her worst moments of life. Mommy’s doing all of this for you.”
Talk about a tear-jerking moment for a brilliantly gifted writer, a resourceful single mom whom not only survived the hood, but one whom issued an emotional, memorable shout out for the ages to her life’s most prized possession in the process.
