Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. (1 Corinthians 15:58 NIV)
ON GOD’S BATTLEFIELD

Bishop Dr. Kendra Michelle Norman Holmes had dauntlessly professed on a number of occasions that she never would operate in ministry.
God, on the hand, had other ideas.
“I am the daughter of two preachers, and I was raised in a staunch Christian home,” Bishop Holmes, 53, during an interview this week with Making Headline News, said, recalling the memorable developments surrounding her rise in ministry. “My parents introduced all five of their children to Christ very early in our lives. I accepted Him as my personal Savior at the tender age of 12 years old.
“I witnessed the struggles that came with living a sacrificial life for Christ, especially while functioning as a church pastor. I watched my father do it, and it was something I declared on more than one occasion that I would absolutely never do. I’ve long ago learned to stop saying what I’d never do because God’s sense of humor is matchless.”

For what it’s worth, God undoubtedly has shifted the ministerial trajectory for Bishop Holmes, the esteemed Senior Pastor and General Overseer of Deliverance Revival Church Incorporated.
Based in Macon, Georgia, Deliverance Revival Church was founded by the retired Bishop H.H. Norman in the mid-1990’s.
Bishop Holmes, meanwhile, recently celebrated her ninth year as the shepherd of a longstanding ministry that, since its ceremonious inception some three-plus decades ago, has become a driving force to the Body of Christ.
Located at 286 Blossom Avenue in Macon, Deliverance Revival Church will honor Bishop Holmes during a two-day Pastoral anniversary celebration July 19-20.

As part of Making Headline News’ advance national coverage ahead of Sarah Jakes Roberts’ Third Annual Woman Evolve Conference July 31 through August 2 from Atlanta, Bishop Holmes vividly recalls how during her life’s adolescent stage, she sensed that God would ultimately equip her to walk in the massive footsteps of her father, this after she preached her first sermon at age 21 and became an ordained minister by age 25.
“I didn’t recognize the meaning of all the dreams I was having back then,” Bishop Holmes told MHN. “But today, here I am doing just that. I think what has surprised me most about my experiences — so far as a pastor — is how much I love what I do. Yes, the struggle gets real sometimes.”
So much so that Bishop Holmes —just as she learned during her youth — discovered that “pastoring isn’t for the weak,” she acknowledged.
“If a person isn’t truly called of God to do it, there’s a very good chance they’ll eventually walk away from it,” Bishop Holmes said. “I’ve faced a lot of spiritual warfare in my life, even in the early years. I didn’t realize it at the time — but even back then — God was preparing me for my now. There’s nothing like being entrusted by God to feed and lead His sheep.”
For Bishop Holmes, overseeing the day-to-day operations of a flourishing ministry, by all accounts, undoubtedly is a monumental task, one she admittedly has fully embraced ever since she graciously came to grips with the notion that God had strategically set her aside for His use.
And, if God said, that settles it.
“It’s a huge responsibility, but when done in accordance with God’s direction, it comes with great rewards,” Bishop said of her fervent rise as a progressive faith leader. “My dad, who is now 86 years old, is the founder of Revival Church Incorporated and, although he still actively pastors, he passed the Bishop’s mantle on to me in 2021.”
Because of whom she is and because of where God is taking her, Bishop Holmes, has proven to be nothing short of impressive since she was appointed to succeed her father — nine years and counting.
Besides pastoring her flock at Deliverance Revival Church, Bishop Holmes oversees two ministries in Georgia, as well as one Florida-based institution.
An eight-time national bestselling author, Bishop Holmes is CEO of Royalty Ministries International, Inc., which includes the following notable roles:
- Founder and Publisher of The Royal Trumpet, an online faith-based newspaper
- Founder and Publisher of Royalty Publications, a credible book publishing company and,
- Founder and National President of Rho Alpha Tau, Inc., a credible Greek letter fellowship
A graduate of Quitman, Georgia’s Brooks County High School, Bishop is a graduate of Valdosta, Georgia’s Valdosta Technical College (now Wiregrass Technical College).
In addition, she acquired a Doctor of Divinity Degree from the Jacksonville, Florida-based St. Thomas Christian University.
Having encountered an upbringing that was mostly structured and centered largely on Biblical principles, Bishop. Holmes admittedly doesn’t take lightly the godly lessons she was taught long before she accepted her divine call to ministry.
ABOUT HER FATHER’S BUSINESS

It was, in fact, those life-altering, yet sometimes-challenging lessons, she recalls, that have greatly fueled her drive to serve mightily under the unction of the Holy Ghost.
“What I love most about the assignment God has placed on me is that it’s not one-dimensional. There are so many layers,” said Bishop Holmes, referring to ministerial and entrepreneurship endeavors. “In the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., ‘I just want to do God’s will.’ I want God to be glorified in all that I say and do. I want to win souls and encourage the masses. It brings me joy to uplift and empower people. There is so much negativity going on in the world. There is so much darkness and evil. My mission is to be the light of Christ.”
An incredible mission that, by all accounts, had been passed down by her beloved father, who’s responsible for paving the way to his daughter’s valiant contributions to the Body of Christ.
Nine years and counting, to put it more precisely.
“I’d have to say that my dad has been my greatest inspiration,” Bishop Holmes said. “He saw the potential in me when I was barely a teenager. That’s when I began writing poems and plays on a very regular basis. Way back then, he was my biggest encourager, and he told me that God had blessed me with a gift that He wanted me to use for His glory.
THIS IS HOLY GROUND

“I didn’t fully understand it at the time, but as I matured both physically and spiritually, it became very clear to me that what I had was more than just a hobby. My father was the first to recognize my gift for writing and storytelling as a divine calling and he was also the first to see God’s anointing on me as a minister to carry His gospel. Some girls have to look in other places to find their hero. Mine raised me, so I feel abundantly blessed.”
Thank God for having ideas.
