Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you. (1 Peter 5:7 KJV)
Oddly as it might seem, God deemed it essential some 11-plus years ago to use Sherry Surratt Beam’s tumultuous situation as His strategic way of introducing her to a vital portion of her vision.
Beam, as it turned out, knew full well that since God was behind it all, she had better take it all in stride.
BEAM OF LIGHT IN DARKNESS
“The vision had been there for years,” Beam, a Charlotte, North Carolina author, told Making Headline News this week of the memorable developments that had given way to her sharing of her life-changing testimony in a forthcoming new book. “God spoke this into my spirit four years after my legal separation in 2007. I couldn’t imagine this, because who am I and who would really care about my trials?”
What Beam had come to discover is that a slew of individuals had collectively grasped an interest in hearing of — and reading about — an emotionally-driven, tear-jerking testimony, one that much to her delight, has changed her life for the better.
A native of Queens, New York, Beam is amongst a gallery of contributing authors who put their immeasurable testimonies on display in the book entitled, “I Rise, Living Beyond The Bruises.”
A book that is forwarded by accomplished Flint, Michigan-based author, empowerment extraordinaire, and Kilgore Publishing founder Precious S. Brown, “I Rise, Living Beyond The Bruises” is will officially make its presence on the market on December 17.
For Beam, she was rather forthright and direct when explaining her reasoning for electing to contribute to an awe-inspiring book that is comprised of a gallery of gifted writers.
“The major purpose of this book is to help others heal,” Beam said. “Being in an abusive situation, there are more than one victim. The veil of shame and bitterness has to be shredded. People need to know there is help and hope for a satisfying future. I will not take my calling lightly until the silent voices are heard.”
Having made her authorship debut through “I Rise, Living Beyond The Bruises,” Beam is especially grateful that she has been blessed to be thrust upon the ideal spiritual platform to not only share before the masses the trials and hurdles about she’s had to clear but, most importantly, she’s grateful that God has strategically favored her for such a time as now.
“The divine message is, ‘Never give up,’” Beam explained without hesitation. “God says He’ll never leave you or forsake you. I know that to be true. We have to be still at times, drown out all of the distractions, and hear Him.”
Amongst the reasons we must shift our focus to God is because in some cases, Beam hinted, we tend to shy away from the spiritual gesture that is housed in Proverbs 3:5-6.
“We tend to lean to our own understanding of others. He orders our steps, not ourselves. When we lean to our own understanding and veer from His path, we open ourselves up to suffer the consequences of that choice. God is still faithful. If we become quiet and seek His voice, He’ll lead us out of our wilderness.” — Sherry Surratt Beam
Much to her delight, coupled with the divine purpose for which God created her, Beam can dauntlessly profess that she’s conquered her season in the wilderness in flying colors.
Yep. That’s just like God.
“I know what I went through in life was not in vain,” Beam said. “Each chapter I lived through is something I would never imagine for my life. The drug addiction in my 30’s, domestic abuse for 12 years of my life. Last but not least, depression and two suicide attempts.
“God delivered me from it all…when I fell to my knees and cried out,” Beam continued. “That’s why I live to sound the trumpet for those who can’t or are too afraid.”
Interestingly and to her credit, Beam’s valiant contributions to “I Rise, Living Beyond The Bruises” figures to help create a buzz surrounding Brown’s ninth published book.
“I’ve been promoting (the book) in (the Charlotte) area,” said Beam, who is scheduled to partake in a podcast entitled, “Life Strategies With Monique,” which is hosted by fellow “I Rise” contributor Monique Pettaway. “There have been an overwhelming show of support. To God be the glory. I have an unbelievable empathy for God’s people. He doesn’t want us in bondage to anything. We can overcome through love. It’s just that simple.”
