Dallas/Fort Worth Pastor Edward Taylor continuing Deliverance Chapel COGIC’s longstanding mission as its beloved leader

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. (1 Corinthians 15:58 KJV)

CARRYING THE MANTLE

DIFFERENT LEADER, SAME MISSION — A notable faith-based resume that is comprised of Edward Taylor being widely dubbed a well-respected preacher, teacher, evangelist, worshipper, father, and counselor, he has appropriately assumed his rightful place as the face of the historic Deliverance Chapel Church of God In Christ, located at 1438 Hortense Avenue.

DALLAS — For the record, it is a testimony that Edward Taylor deems it a foregone conclusion to share with the masses.

Every single chance he gets.

Just recently, Taylor found himself disclosing it once again, reliving the awe-inspiring notion that had it not been for the Lord on his side then, chances are, he wouldn’t merely know where he’d be.

Then again, he does have an idea, to put it rather bluntly.
“Had God not changed my life when He did, I would probably be dead or in jail,” Edwards, during an exclusive interview this week with Making Headline News, said, recalling the memorable, life-altering developments that led to his rise as an accomplished man of the cloth. “Also, I know if He changed my life, he can do it for someone else. So I take reaching the lost — evangelism — really serious.”
To grasp a thorough understanding of why Taylor would be considered a proverbial nuts and bolts — or a going by the book — type of minister, look no further than not just how God has provided for him a way of escape time and again.
Oh…and while you’re at it, look no further than how he’s diligently going about serving the people of God.
A notable faith-based resume that is comprised of Taylor being widely dubbed a well-respected preacher, teacher, evangelist, worshipper, father, and counselor, he has appropriately assumed his rightful place as the face of the historic Deliverance Chapel Church of God In Christ, located at 1438 Hortense Avenue.
Installed as an ordained elder approximately two years later by the late Bishop J. Neaul Haynes, the former Prelate of the Texas Northeast First Jurisdictional, Taylor consequently served closely under late Superintendent Kelley Jr., a stint that would ultimately give way to his official installation as Deliverance Chapel’s Pastor months after Kelley Jr.’s untimely demise, despite having founded Dallas’ El Shaddai Temple Church of God In Christ in August 2011.

A tradition-rich institution that’s housed in the historic Oak Cliff community of Dallas, Deliverance Chapel has embraced wholeheartedly the keen leadership of Taylor, 53, since the longtime minister was installed as its third Senior Pastor in 2017.

Having succeeded the late Superintendent Elijah Kelley Jr., who passed away on November 19, 2016 at the age of 54, Taylor has made immeasurable strides since assuming the Senior Pastoral duties and, much to his delight, his congregation has unquestionably and gracefully received him in the process.

Deliverance Chapel was founded in 1981 by the late Superintendent Elijah Kelley, Sr. and his wife, Elect Lady Geneva Kelley.

“Although (I was) raised in a single parent home, my mother always taught me to work hard and never let anyone tell me what I can’t do or attain,” said Taylor, recalling the No. 1 key value he was taught as a child.

SERVING WITH EXCELLENCE — To grasp a thorough understanding of why Taylor would be considered a proverbial nuts and bolts — or a going by the book — type of minister, look no further than not just how God has provided him a way of escape time and again, but look no further than how he has gone about serving the people of God.

A native of Jackson, Mississippi, Taylor and his family relocated from the Magnolia to the Lone Star State in 2004, approximately nine years after he had effectively accepted his calling to preach the gospel.

Interestingly, even before God had strategically set Taylor aside for His use, this young preacher endured a tumultuous season in the wilderness, one that was mired by his constant drug addiction.

All things considered, coupled with divine purpose for which he was created, even a somewhat lengthy connection to drugs wasn’t enough to steer Taylor to a premature death, mind you.

LEAST WE FORGET

REMEMBERING HIS PREDICESSORS  — Having succeeded the late Superintendent Elijah Kelley Jr., who passed away on November 19, 2016 at the age of 54, Taylor has made immeasurable strides since assuming Senior Pastor duties and, much to his delight, his congregation has unquestionably and gracefully received him in the process.

If nothing else, it seemed that such a downtrodden and gloomy season of his life only impressed upon the heart of his Creator to come after him the more. So much so that this young, gifted preacher from the “SIP” (a historic abbreviation for Mississippi) had no choice but to do away with his potentially dead-end addiction, thus pick up his cross and obey God’s specific commands that included, among other things, leading His people for such a time as now.

Because at the end of the real day, Taylor was taught, more than anything, that only what you do for Christ will last.

AFTER GOD’S OWN HEART

Armed with well over three decades of experience in the ministry, Taylor is especially appreciative of the valiant and unyielding support of Elect Lady Tangela Taylor, his wife of 15 years, who serves alongside him in ministry.

Here he is today, functioning mightily in his element as the chief executive officer of one of the most longstanding ministries in Dallas/Fort Worth which, to his credit, is a far cry from those days back home in Mississippi, where the adversary sensed he had Taylor right where he wanted him.

But God…

SERVANT’S HEART — For what it’s worth, this national COGIC Adjutant has been serving ever since — serving with a pure and contrite heart, serving immense adherence and trustworthiness, serving according to God’s purpose.

“(My ) family is very supportive, especially my mother and adult children,” said Taylor, explaining his transition to Senior Pastor nearly two years ago.

“The Lord has blessed us to work together to accomplish great things in the ministry,” Taylor said of his companion’s unparalleled support. “Our greatest desire is to take the church to another level and build the people and let God grow the church. Deliverance Chapel is a united body, and is definitely a good church to go to heaven from.”

Credit Taylor’s predecessor as arguably the biggest reason why.

Taylor joined Deliverance Chapel in 2004 after serving a brief tenure under Pastor Joe Starks of Shady Gove Church of God In Christ in nearby Irving, Texas.

RIGHT WHERE GOD WANTS HIM — Here is Taylor today, functioning mightily in his element as the chief executive officer of one of the most longstanding ministries in Dallas/Fort Worth which, to his credit, is a far cry from the days back home in Mississippi, where the adversary sensed that he had Taylor right where he wanted him. But God…

Deliverance Chapel was founded in 1981 by the late Superintendent Elijah Kelley, Sr. and his wife, Elect Lady Geneva Kelley.

Prior to assuming his Pastoral assignment in Texas, Taylor served at Amazing Institutional Church of God in Christ in Jackson, Mississippi, under the leadership of Superintendent Marcus Butler.

Currently, Taylor serves as Evangelist President to Bishop Nathaniel De’Anthony Wells, the Prelate of Texas Northeast Fourth Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction.

Asked when he sensed that God was strategically him for ministry, Taylor said without hesitation: “When I accepted my calling at age 30.”

A PROVEN LEADER — A tradition-rich institution that’s housed in the historic Oak Cliff community of Dallas, Deliverance Chapel has embraced wholeheartedly the keen leadership of Taylor, 53, since the longtime minister was installed as its third Senior Pastor in 2017.

For what it’s worth, though, this national COGIC Adjutant has been serving conscientiously ever since — serving with a pure and contrite heart, serving with immense adherence and trustworthiness, serving according to God’s purpose.

Most of all, he’s serving fervently from God’s perspective.

Which, because of the divine calling on his life, is a far cry from those days back home in Mississippi, where the adversary sensed he had him right where he wanted him.

But God…

Washington, DC-area author Kinite McCrae’s unorthodox connection to God gives way to an inspiring new book

Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever. (Hebrews 13:8 KJV)

As it pertains to her faith walk, Kinite McCrae is…well…let’s put it this way:

Her walk with God is somewhat unconventional, to say the least.

By and large, McCrae isn’t whom many would deem “your typical” Christian story.

For starters, she was not raised in the church, nor did she grow up in a Christian-oriented community.

MASSIVE KINGDOM IMPACT — A native of Washington, DC, Kinite McCrae’s “I Am A Christian…This Is Why: A Logical Response To The Skeptic” will make its debut on November 18, a book that will be available for purchase on Amazon.com and on her personal website at https://www.authorkinite.com/.

Come to think of it, in fact, she spent her early adult years mostly skeptical about what she described as “organized religion,” not to mention the authenticity of the Bible until she consequently decided to embark upon a rather unorthodox journey, one that was centered on her having studied world religions in a search for truth.

What she had eventually discovered was that, well, only what we do for Christ will last.

That’s because during her in-depth spiritual journey, she had ultimately come to grips with the notion that Christianity is, in fact, logical and intelligent and that conclusion had eventually given way to her to accepting Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.

Interestingly, that McCrae had made peace with God was a life-changing development, of sorts, an awe-inspiring occurrence that had proved to be the precursor to her present ministry, one that inspired her to compose the book entitled, “I Am A Christian…This Is Why: A Logical Response To The Skeptic.”

A book whereby God has infused within her the vision to compose some five years ago, McCrae’s “I Am A Christian…This Is Why: A Logical Response To The Skeptic” has been deemed what this writer has dubbed “a quick read,” one that provides what she labels to-the-point arguments, evidence-based answers, not to mention one that raises logical questions as a strategic way to provoke readers to engage in critical thinking, all the while assuming the desire to go further in their search for truth.

“Life happens and in my busyness, I put it on the back burner until this year, the Holy Spirit would not let me rest until I finished this book,” McCrae told Making Headline News during a recent interview. “After I returned from my mission’s trip to Africa, I was so inspired, I was able to finish in about two weeks.”

Much to her delight, McCrae is just days away from witnessing her newly-produced book make its much-anticipated presence on the market.

A native of Washington, DC, McCrae’s “I Am A Christian…This Is Why: A Logical Response To The Skeptic” will make its debut on November 18, a book that will be available for purchase on Amazon.com and on her personal website at https://www.authorkinite.com/.

When asked what was the single, most underlying reason she chose to produce her new book, McCrae said, “Most Christians know what they believe, but have difficulty explaining why they believe, which are two different questions with two different answers. I want to help equip Christians to logically and intelligently explain the why behind the what. (Furthermore), I want to help the skeptic or the person that’s on the fence by answering some of the difficult or confusing questions about Christianity.”

For what it’s worth, McCrae has gone to great lengths through her soon-to-be-released book to remind God’s people that we serve an “intelligent God” and an “intelligent Spirit” which means we should be able to defend the faith both intelligently and spiritually, she acknowledged.

WHO IS KINITE McCRAE? https://www.authorkinite.com/

HARVEST SEASON UNFOLDING — Much to her delight, McCrae is just days away from witnessing her newly-produced book make its much-anticipated presence on the market.

“After all, He said, ‘Come let us reason with one another,’” said McCrae, reciting the familiar Biblical passage that is Isaiah 1:18. “And the word, ‘reason,’ requires an exchange of intellect and ideas.”

A little less than two weeks away from its official release, McCrae is extremely grateful of the early favorable feedback of her book.

“It has been amazing,” McCrae said of the hoopla and buzz surrounding her newly-assembled written work. “I’ve had so many people tell me that I have explained things in a simple and logical way, a way that they never thought about before or had explained to them in all their years of church. And now they finally understand. I’m so humbled by that, because I know that the revelation truly comes from God, but that He would use me…all I can say is what is man that He is mindful.”

Fortunately for McCrae, God has already shown her much favor through a book that has yet to hit the market.

“I’ve already spoken at several conferences leading up to this launch, where I’ve had the opportunity to encourage and exhort woman, men and, youth,” said McCrae, whose official book launch is November 18 at 12 p.m. EST and will be hosted by her church (located at 3801 West Braddock Road in Alexandria, Virginia, inside T. C. Williams High School Minnie Howard Campus).

“All are welcome (to attend the book launch),” said McCrae, requesting that those who plan to attend to RSVP at www.authorkinite.com, considering lunch will be served. “Also, they don’t have to wait until 12 noon to show up; all are welcome to join us that morning for worship services, which begins at 9 am with breakfast.”

Also, McCrae announced that her forthcoming book is the first of the “I Am” series and that additional written documents are in the works, which will explain what she describes as other Bible difficulties, most notably heaven, hell, and life after death.

“I discovered early on that my spiritual gifts are exhortation, teaching and leading,” McCrae said. “So I would say that with this book, I will exhort, teach and through the work of the Holy Spirit, take part in leading many to Christ.”

Never mind that her walk with God has been somewhat unconventional, to say the least.

South Carolina Pastor TrVera Williams leading God’s people to make a ‘U Turn’ for Christ

MAKING HEADLINE NEWS WELCOMES PASTOR TRVERA WILLIAMS

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. (1 Corinthians 15:58)

Just after midday EST on Thursday, TrVera Williams took to her Facebook page, where she staged a rather intriguing and thought-provoking video.

The footage before her gallery of social media followers read: YOU ARE NEXT IN LINE FOR A MIRACLE.

Ahhh…just the ideal message by this devout, big-hearted woman of faith whom, to her credit, is being used by God to advance the kingdom unlike never before, for such pivotal time as now.

“When the Lord placed in my spirit to transition, I just didn’t see how that would work,” Williams, during an interview this week with Making Headline News, said, explaining in great detail the events that had ultimately given way to her establishing a ministry. “Being single and the sole bread winner, my questions were: How am I going to pay my bills and what am I going to do with the business bills?”

U-TURN INTO MORE SUCCESS — A native of Jamestown, South Carolina, Trvera Williams has made some pretty remarkably and progressive strides as the Founder and Senior Pastor of U Turn For Christ Evangelistic Ministries, Inc., which will be celebrating five years of existence in what has been deemed Harvest Celebration 2018, a three-day, power-packed event that will take place November 16-18.

As Williams consequently found it, because her calling to the ministry essentially was God’s will, it was also, by all accounts, His bill.

Yep, that’s just like God.

“The Lord told me that He would take care of me and that I was not to go get another job, but my job was to get up every morning, get dressed and go upstairs and spend time with Him. Initially, fear and anger were present, because I didn’t understand why God would take something away that He told me to build.” — Pastor Trvera Williams

That Williams has steadfastly obeyed the Voice of God has benefited her mightily since she ceremoniously delved off into ministry full time.

SOLID CHRISTIAN FOUNDATION — Having grown up in what is known as the Jehovah Holiness Church, Williams and her family, she explained, were affiliated with the First Born Church Of The Living God, a denomination that is based in Waycross, Georgia.

A native of Jamestown, South Carolina, Williams has made some pretty remarkably and progressive strides as the Founder and Senior Pastor of U Turn For Christ Evangelistic Ministries, Inc., which will be celebrating five years of existence in what has been deemed Harvest Celebration 2018, a three-day, power-packed event that will take place November 16-18.

A non-denominational institution that Williams founded in November 2013, U Turn For Christ is housed in the historic Berea area of Greenville, South Carolina, which is part of the Greenville, Mauldin, and Easley metropolitan statistical areas — a town that is comprised of roughly 14,295 residents, according to the latest U. S. census.

“He then said He was taking it away, but, instead, I was trading in my business, Serenity Rehab And Wellness Center, for something better,” said Williams, recalling the infancy stages of her ministry.

CONNECT WITH U TURN FOR CHRIST VIA SOCIAL MEDIA: https://www.facebook.com/UTFCEM/

Interestingly, U Turn For Christ’s regular worship services took place in the gymnasium of Williams’ place of business in Winter 2013.

Today, however, this up-and-coming ministry’s present site is located at 6243 White Horse Road, Suite F in Greenville.

A church whereby this clergywoman is widely known for emphasizing the spirit of excellence throughout the Body of Christ and in the community, Williams’ professional ministerial resume is such that she isn’t just known for being a solid and notable pastor.

To her credit, coupled with the divine purpose for which she was created, Williams is widely known also as a godly mentor to a host of leaders, particularly those whom likewise have been called to the ministry.

ADVANCING THE KINGDOM — In 2017, Williams witnessed the release of her book entitled, “A Journey With A Promise,” an awe-inspiring written document that is comprised of poems, as well as recording an inspirational scripture and Prayer CD entitled, “Worship In The Word With Anointed Keys.”

Credit her notable and rich upbringing in the church as amongst the reasons Williams is yet witnessing her destiny unfold right before her eyes.

“Seek ye first the Kingdom of God, you can do all things through Christ Who strengthens you, be who God has called you to be,” said Williams, explaining what were amongst the key and strategic values her parents taught her as a child.

Having grown up in what is known as the Jehovah Holiness Church, Williams and her family, she explained, were affiliated with the First Born Church Of The Living God, a denomination that is based in Waycross, Georgia.

The daughter to a mother, who was an evangelist and father, who was a deacon, Williams practically grew up in the church.

GOD’S LEADING LADY — For what’s it worth, that Williams had begun preaching the gospel at the tender age of 16 essentially was a prelude to what is taken place at this stage in her life, a trend that was highlighted by her officially accepting her calling, thus selling out solely to God in 1999.

“I grew up, singing in the choir, being active in the youth department, on speaking programs for youth district meetings,” said Williams, once of a product of the historic Church of God In Christ. “(I also) transitioned into playing the drums and then the keyboard of which I continue to play.”

For what’s it worth, that Williams had begun preaching the gospel at the tender age of 16 essentially was a prelude to what is taking place at this stage in her life, a trend that was highlighted by her officially accepting her calling, thus selling out solely to God in 1999.

How else to explain why she was next in line for a miracle all along?

“My mother says that when I was younger I would preach to my stuff animals,” Williams jokingly said, but with a straight face.

LET US GO INTO GOD’S HOUSE — A non-denominational institution that Williams founded in November 2013, U Turn For Christ is housed in the historic Berea area of Greenville, South Carolina, which is part of the Greenville, Mauldin, and Easley metropolitan statistical area, a town that is comprised of roughly 14,295 residents, according to the latest U. S. census.

Much to her delight, she routinely preaches before people from various walks of life, people who are discouraged and wounded and spiritually incarcerated, people who are in dire need to change the overall landscape of their lives, all the while drawing closer to God in the process.

After all, this is what making a U-Turn for Christ is all about.

“This testimony shows me how I thought I believed and trusted (God), but I saw that I believed as far as the bank account and the pay day, because I knew with my profession, I would not be jobless,” said Williams who, last year, witnessed the much-anticipated release of her book entitled, “A Journey With A Promise,” an awe-inspiring written document of poems. “But this test has helped me stand and continue to build U Turn For Christ Evangelistic Ministries on a sure foundation.”

APPLE OF GOD’S EYE — Much to her delight, Williams routinely preaches before people from various walks of life, people who are discouraged and spiritually incarcerated, people who are in dire need to change the overall landscape of their lives, all the while drawing closer to God in the process. After all, this is what making a U-Turn for Christ is all about.

A solid, faith-based foundation that undoubtedly will stand the test of time with God, its Helper, leading the way.

“Throughout the transition period and for about six months,” said Williams, “not one bill went unpaid, and many bills were written off, all because my faith came up.”

Indeed it deed.

For five years and counting.

Yep, that’s just like God.

An event that is entering its fourth year of existence, the Eagle Excellence Awards is widely regarded as a mandate, of sorts, whereby organizers deem it essential to honor, celebrate, and encourage Pastors, reminding them, among other things, that their immeasurable kingdom-based work is not being executed in vain.

“Although their ultimate reward will come from God, we deem it necessary to give thanks to them for the years of selfless service that they give to the Kingdom of God,” said a spokesperson for the Eagle Excellence Awards in a synopsis at https://www.eagleawards.org/.

Roughly a month removed from the latest awards ceremony, Dr. Vaughn’s Fourth Annual Eagle Excellence Awards Show figures to be just as adventurous, thus attracting more of a universal presence.

That’s because next year’s event, which will be nationally televised by The WORD Network, will be hosted by Bishop Greg Davis, and will take place on September 7, 2019 at 5 p.m. EST from Lakewood, New Jersey.

Available in over 200 countries while reaching millions of viewers in Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia, and appearing in nearly 93 million homes in the United States, The WORD Network is widely regarded as largest African-American religious network in the world.

A venue for the next year’s Eagle Excellence Awards has yet to be determined.

WORTHY OF DOUBLE HONOR — Interestingly, Eagle Excellence Awards organizers have had the luxury of paying homage to more than 150 Pastors from around the country, in part because a number of them haven’t gotten the respect and exposure they rightfully deserve, Dr. Vaughn emphasized.

If the previous three years are any indication, it’s safe to assume that next year’s event figures to attract a slew of prominent personalities throughout the Body of Christ.

“We have been able to host many ministry leaders in the communities to bless the Body of Christ,” Dr. Vaughn said.

Amongst those leaders are Bishop Hezekiah Walker, Pastor Tye Tribbett, Evangelist Vicki Winans, Evangelist Karen Clark Sheard, Evangelist Dorinda Clark Cole, Bishop Jason Nelson, Charles Butler & Trinity, the Mann’s Tour, the Bloody Win Tour, Bishop Marvin Sapp, Le’Andria Johnson, and Tasha Page Lockhart, just to name a few.

“Many leaders have been overlooked for their sacrifices and endeavors. During our Eagle Excellence Awards ceremony, we have let the leaders know that their work is not being done in vain. Our desire is to be a blessing by giving back to our youth and communities.” — Prophetess Maria Vaughn

MUCH SPIRITUAL HOOPLA — If the previous three years are any indication, it’s safe to assume that the 2019 Eagle Excellence Awards figure to attract a slew of prominent personalities throughout the Body of Christ.

Also, next year’s Eagle Excellence Awards will be comprised of what Dr. Vaughn said are “specific changes,” most notably a newly-established production team, a variety of commercials and promos months leading to the event, as well as new marketing strategies that will enable organizers to enhance the event’s vision.

In addition, Dr. Vaughn and her staff are devising more effective and strategic ways to implement networking and continuing long-term relationships, all the while adding more volunteers and community involvement, particularly as it relates to creating more activities to brand the forthcoming Eagle Excellence Awards, she said.

Dallas/Fort Worth-area pastor and host of well-wishers to honor International Suit Warehouse GM Andrew Brown

DALLASAndrew Brown is a haberdasher.

He’s a pretty darn good one, too.

RAISING THE BAR — Interestingly, is it because of Dallas businessman Andrew Brown’s valiant contributions while functioning in his element as general manager of International Suit Warehouse at 4030 West Camp Wisdom, that a host of his devoted customers, family members, friends, and well-wishers will descend upon Dallas’ Sunlight Missionary Baptist to honor him during an appreciation gathering as a thriving, beloved businessman.

“It’s more than just selling clothes, but helping many people get a look that’s different than norm…to build relationships with so many people is an honor,” Brown, during an interview this week with Making Headline News, said of his stellar and rewarding Corporate America profession. “Throughout the years, I’ve met so many people with so many personalities.”

And, fortunately for Brown, his uniquely unorthodox attire, coupled with his sometimes demonstrative countenance, have been thoroughly embraced and admired by people from various walks of life, most notably those fellas who are accustomed to — you know — devising ways to dress to impress.

Interestingly, is it because of Brown’s valiant contributions while functioning in his element as general manager of International Suit Warehouse at 4030 West Camp Wisdom, that a host of his devoted customers, family members, friends, and well-wishers will descend upon Dallas’ Sunlight Missionary Baptist to honor him during an appreciation gathering as a thriving, beloved businessman.

International Suit Warehouse has five locations throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth-area Metroplex, including its Camp Wisdom store.

The event, which will take place at 2308 Cooper Street on February 9 at 7 p.m. CST, is being arranged by Sunlight Senior Pastor, Bishop El Robinson, who is a regular customer of ISW and has established close-knit rapport with Brown, a native of nearby McKinney, Texas.

All things considered in a profession whereby Brown has, in his own words, learned to “take good with the bad,” this South Oak Cliff High graduate is especially grateful that a number of his customers and close friends deemed it essential to pay homage to him in such an illustrative way.

CHECK OUT ISW: https://www.iswmenswear.com/default.asp

Y’ALL WELCOME — From individuals as young as four years old to elderly men in their late 60s-to-early-70s, Brown has become a fixture for steadfastly tending to the fashion needs of virtually anyone who solicits his immeasurable assistance.

“I’ve learned to take the good with the bad and make each customer count,” said Brown, whose name and familiar face are typically what customers initially utter and look for upon entering the four walls of ISW. “For customers continue to come back year after year is a blessing, and it really means something to me.”

From individuals as young as four years old to elderly men in their late 60s-to-early-70s, Brown has become a fixture for steadfastly tending to the fashion needs of virtually anyone who solicits his immeasurable assistance.

After all he is a haberdasher.

And a pretty darn good one, too.

“I’m not able to travel through the job but, I have customers from all over the world,” Brown said. “All of my customer’s know me by name.”

Sadly, Brown was responsible for dressing his younger brother as his family prepared to funeralize him amid his death in July 2016 as a result of gun violence.

For the most part, Brown is widely known as “Drew” by ISW regular customers. Of course, the bulk of the credit goes to his mother, who’s responsible, in many ways, for instilling in her son the importance of — you know — devising ways to dress to impress.

“My mother said I was just a little kid, barely talking…and I saw this guy with red shoes and, back then, red shoes weren’t popular,” Brown explained. “But she said that I said that when I grow up, I will have me some red shoes too.”

The rest, as they say, was history.

How else to explain Brown’s unconventional, eye-catching wardrobe that, on several occasions, has New England Patriots logos blanketed all over them?

MOM KNOWS BEST — For the most part, Brown is widely known as “Drew” by ISW regular customers. Of course, the bulk of the credit goes to his mother, who’s responsible, in many ways, for instilling in her son the importance of — you know — devising ways to dress to impress.

“I’ve never been the one to out dress someone, for it is a blessing to have shoes on our feet and clothes on our back,” Brown said. “God sends people in our lives for a reason. I’ve dressed baby’s, kids, (youngsters for) proms, athletes — some with three or more Super Bowl rings — (customers for) weddings, funerals, pimps, circus actors, actors, teachers, (school) principals, military (types), lawyers, doctors, (police) officers, counselors, judge’s, choirs, musicians, ushers, preachers, pastors on all levels, city council members, and many more.”

Sadly, Brown was responsible for dressing his younger brother as his family prepared to funeralize him amid his tragic death in July 2016 as a result of gun violence.

For what it’s worth, Brown doesn’t shy away from the notion that his labor isn’t in vain.

“I’ve been in the fashion world for over eight years,” said Brown, the proud father of three daughters (Devyn, 10, Summer, 6, and Dikota, 2). “I’ve been No. 1 in sales for over 6 years.”

Now we know why he’s a haberdasher.

And a pretty darn good one, too.

Memphis-area life coach/motivational speaker Michael Scruggs generating national headlines for all the right reasons

MEMPHIS — There’s no other way to put it.

Michael Scruggs has gone viral for all the right reasons.

A longtime Memphis-area educator, Scruggs’ inspiring story that is centered largely on his pre-teaching ritual in which he jogs around his classroom chanting “I Am Number One” as his students look on in stunned amazement has appropriately caught the nation by storm.

So much, in fact, that Scruggs has witnessed his celebrity — most notably in the spirit realm — heighten immensely in recent months.

MEMPHIS’ NATIONAL CHAMPION — A longtime Memphis-area educator, Michael Scruggs’ story that is centered largely on his pre-teaching ritual in which he jogs around his classroom chanting, “I Am Number One,” as his students look on in wonderment has caught the nation by storm.

As he tells it, it is a foregone conclusion that God undoubtedly is behind all of the proverbial “I Am Number One” hoopla.

Errr…national hoopla.

“The most special thing about the national attention has been getting the validation for the work I’ve been doing behind the scenes for years,” Scruggs told Making Headline News this week. “Also, seeing my former students really being impacted by all of this has been a blessing.”

‘GOD IS UP TO SOMETHING’ — As Scruggs tells it, it is a foregone conclusion that God undoubtedly is behind all of the proverbial “I Am Number One” hoopla.

What’s even more remarkable for Scruggs is that his business-related venture outside of the classroom is starting to take shape in ways unimaginable.

Scruggs is an accomplished life coach/motivational speaker, a business-related endeavor he established in 2007.

A Memphis Central High School alum who holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from the University of Memphis and a Master’s degree in Education from Union University, Scruggs’ business involves mostly mentoring and giving back to young people, a trend that greatly fueled his desire to delve off into education and eventually become a teacher.

Pictured alongside the late Bishop Gilbert Earl Patterson, Scruggs said the former COGIC Presiding Bishop was one of his most cherished mentors.

“From there, I started mentoring my former students by taking them out into the community,” Scruggs said of the purpose for which God created him to assemble his business venture. “People enjoyed listening to me speak and then I began doing motivational speaking.”

For what it’s worth, Scruggs’ customary classroom mantra, by all accounts, has been something about which his current and former students have prayed would ultimately find its way onto a much larger platform.

To his distinctly unique credit, those intercessory prayers on Scruggs’ behalf have finally been answered.

MASSIVE SUPPORTING CAST — A longtime member of the historic Temple of Deliverance Church of God In Christ, Scruggs credits the late Bishop G. E. Patterson, his wife, Louise Patterson, Bishop T. D. Jakes, Oprah Winfrey, his mother, his cousin, Juan, his former students, former Memphis Mayor W. W. Herenton, Dr. Steve Perry, Bobby White and Ed Stanton, his former college professor Dr. Ken Brown, and a host of former teachers for having a monumental impact on his life, thus helping empowering him for a time such as now.

“When I hear that a lot of them have prayed that I would be recognized nationally really has blown my mind,” Scruggs said. “They all recite, ‘I Am Number One,’ I have everything it takes to be No. 1.”

Fortunately for Scruggs, it’s safe to assume that America essentially has rallied around and embraced what obviously is becoming a catchphrase for the ages.

In addition to generating an array of headlines that were accompanied by footage of Scruggs running around his classroom uttering his festive, jubilant “I Am Number One” chant, this licensed ordained minister was recently invited to appear The Ellen DeGeneres Show to share of his feel good story, one that has drawn a massive figurative applause by millions around the country.

IT’S SHOWTIME — In addition to generating an array of headlines that were highlighted by footage of Scruggs running around his classroom uttering his festive, jubilant “I Am Number One” chat, this licensed ordained minister was recently invited to appear The Ellen DeGeneres Show to share of his feel good story, one that has drawn a massive figurative applause by millions around the country.

“It has opened up so many doors for me and I’m still humbled by all of the national attention,” Scruggs said of having appeared on a national talk show. “Favor will do what your money can’t do.”

Interesting enough, Memphis, a city that has been crippled by a poor economic landscape and a continuous rise in crime, has rallied around to offer support for one of its own.

MORE ON MICHAEL SCRUGGS: www.themichaelscruggs.com

“It’s been great to shine a positive light on Memphis, given all of the negative attention Memphis receives,” Scruggs said. “Memphis is a great place with some awesome young people.”

STAY TUNED…THERE’S MORE — In addition, Scruggs said plans are in the works to open up a youth center that would allow him to continue his motivational speaking and, most of all, continue to enhance his beloved “I am Number One” movement, one that, to his credit, has caught the attention of the country.

A longtime member of the historic Temple of Deliverance Church of God In Christ, Scruggs credits the late Bishop G.

“What’s next for me is to continue to allow the Lord to order my steps and impact youth in a bigger way,” said Scruggs, who’s also putting the finishing touches on his book.

In addition, Scruggs said plans are in the works to erect a youth center that would allow him to continue his motivational speaking and, most of all, continue to enhance his beloved “I am Number One” movement, one that to his credit, has caught the attention of virtually the entire country.

Talk about living the American dream.

“My goal and passion is to see the lives of young people changed for the better,” Scruggs said. “Having this call means to become selfless. I would have never thought a young man from south Memphis, raised in a single parent household, would ever be on national TV. If God did it for me, He can do it for anybody.”

There’s no other way to put it.

Texas-based author Tammie Lewis Mask recalls her son’s death to life encounter in her tear-jerking book

TEXAS SIZE TESTIMONY — Fortunately for Tammie Lewis Mask and her family, they found out firsthand that God, as mighty and majestic and sovereign He is, is One Who’s still the Chief Executive Officer of the miracle-working business. That’s because they paid witness to a dramatic comeback for the ages when Mask’s then-20-year-old son, Stephen Mask, collapsed during a competitive football game and subsequently went into cardiac arrest. Mask wrote about her son’s death to life experience in her recently-released book, “Another Slam Dunk: When Man Said No, God Said Yes.”

DALLAS — For the record, writing has not been one of Tammie Lewis Mask’s strength.

To her surprise, that all changed some three years ago.

That’s because after having been dealt arguably the greatest setback, arguably the most disastrous encounter, arguably the darkest hours she had ever envisioned in her life, Mask — for a lack of better words — was empowered and equipped to remove the mask from her apparent hidden talents as a writer.

“I even had to question God due to (the fact that) writing wasn’t one of the talents I was blessed with,” Mask, reciting the words to Jeremiah 32:17, explained during an exclusive interview with Making Headline News this week. “There is nothing too difficult for God. He orchestrates and determines everything that happens in our lives. Whatever He wants to do, He does, for nothing is impossible with Him.”

Fortunately for Mask and her family, they found out firsthand that God, as mighty and majestic and sovereign He is, is One Who’s still the Chief Executive Officer of the miracle-working business.

IF GOD BE FOR US — Fortunately for Mask and her family, they found out firsthand that God, as mighty and majestic and sovereign He is, is One Who’s still the Chief Executive Officer of the miracle-working business.

That’s because Tammie Mask paid witness to a dramatic comeback for the ages when her then-20-year-old son, Stephen Mask, collapsed during a competitive football game and subsequently went into cardiac arrest.

As if such a development wasn’t enough to send shock waves through the Mask family, Stephen Mask, according to doctors, was left without a pulse for an extended period of time.

Stephen, in fact, had all but expired, had all but died, had all but unceremoniously passed away and bid his beloved family an untimely farewell all too soon.

SAVING STEPHEN — Stephen Mask (left), according to doctors, was left without a pulse for a lengthy period of time. Stephen, in fact, had all but expired, simply died, simply passed away all too soon.

Much to the delight of the Tammie Mask, though, a rather dramatic sequence of events had transpired just as she and her family harbored thoughts of possible funeral arrangements as the Jasper, Texas native eloquently explained in her emotional, tear-jerking book entitled, “Another Slam Dunk: When Man Said No, God Said Yes.”

“It took me approximately three years to finish (my book),” Tammie Mask, who currently resides in nearby Lufkin, Texas, said. “It was a very hard and emotional task for me to complete. I literally had to relive many emotions I had experienced in the past…sadness, anger, shock, denial, and guilt.”

Tammie Mask’s inspiring book can also be purchased at Barnes & Noble online at BN.com.

Regardless, what Tammie Mask had ultimately come to realize and embrace was that even when we are gripped and bound and spiritually imprisoned by what seemingly are life’s grandest obstacles and hurdles, God will always have the final say.

If nothing else, He revealed Himself unlike never before in the life of Tammie Mask, particularly when it seemed that her son was all but gone.

Forever.

A book that was officially released in December and is available for purchase at Amazon.com, “Another Slam Dunk: When Man Said No, God Said Yes” recalls the horrific events surrounding what Mask had sensed was the final moments of Stephen’s life when he collapsed while playing the sport he loves and ultimately went lifeless.

“At the end of completing Slam Dunk, God restored the brokenness that I didn’t even realize I was holding inside,” Tammie Mask said as she wiped away tears. “To God be the glory!”

Surprisingly, after demonstrating unwavering faith, coupled with fervent prayers, Stephen was revived and managed to make a full recovery. Today, he’s enjoying a healthy, carefree life, and is widely regarded as a walking miracle for all the right reasons.

THERE’S MORE — Moreover, Tammie Mask’s books deals in part on the importance of first responders, good Samaritans, and the need to educate our youth on how to execute effective CPR.

“The book is also a testament about remarkable medical advances in recent times when a patient with severe anoxic brain injury can be rehabilitated to become a functional member of the society, whereas similar patients in the past would have to spend the rest of their lives in a vegetative state,” Tammie Mask explained in great details on her Amazon.com page.

YOU GO GIRL — In essence, she acknowledged, Another Slam Dunk is also about a loving family who has supported Stephen mightily through his remarkable journey, one that practically stemmed from what she described as a “dead person” to his current status as a “young man who’s ready to live a productive life.”
For the record, he already is.

For the record, he’s doing just that.

“Through the struggles I’ve faced, I’ve gained joy in the Lord,” Tammie Mask said while reciting the familiar words to Proverbs 3:5-6. “Your trials can become your blessings as you come to understand the sovereignty of God in a very personal way.”

That’s because nothing, as she said, is impossible for God.

For the record, try asking Stephen, who’s responsible for perfectly executing a life-changing slam dunk for the ages.

South Carolina Pastor Yolanda Townsend savoring the fruits of her labor after graciously accepting her divine calling

PREACH, PASTOR YOLANDA!!! Today, unlike never before, Yolanda Townsend, a devoted married mother of two children to her husband Christopher Townsend, Sr., is savoring the fruits of her labor all because she never grew weary in well doing.
Aside her flourishing, self-founded DIVAS 4 Christ Ministries, Townsend is the Assistant Pastor of the Empowerment Worship Center, a Greenville, South Carolina-based church that was founded by Alabama native  Pastor James Perry Jr., Lady Lisa Perry and a few board members in 2009.

Yolanda Townsend undoubtedly has had a brutally hectic schedule in recent months.

So much, in fact, that she literally has found it difficult to honor interview requests from the media.

But just recently, Townsend, the Founder of DIVAS 4 Christ Ministries, deemed it essential that she place a figurative bookmarker in her congested itinerary and share the assortment of life-changing events surrounding what has greatly given way to a successful, progressive pastoral career for this Anderson, South Carolina native.

A vibrant, vivacious 46-year-old woman of the cloth, Townsend has enjoyed a ministerial tenure that spans nearly two decades — 18 years to exact.

WE ARE FAMILYGreenville, South Carolina-area Pastor Yolanda Townsend pictured with her family (from left to right): her son, Christian, 11, husband, Christopher Townsend, Sr., and their daughter, Crystal, who is nine years old. Yolanda Townsend has been actively involved in the ministry for a little more than 18 years.

As Townsend eloquently explained during a recent interview with Making Headlines News, while she customarily found herself trying to flee from her Kingdom work-related responsibilities — or her divine calling, if you will — she ultimately came to a realization that God, as sovereign as He is, had other ideas.

“I knew God was positioning me for ministry at a very early age,” Townsend said. “My mother shared with me how around age three or five, I would get up, dress myself by putting on my robe and slippers, then push a chair to the front door, unlock it, and go outside. I would make my way across the street to sit in the rocking chairs with the mothers.”

GOD’S MYSTICAL UNIONChristopher and Yolanda Townsend were united in Holy Matrimony on July 17, 2003.

Wait. There are more distinctly unique details to a story that essentially unfolded nearly four decades ago.

“From then on, we knew ministry was being fulfilled,” Townsend explained. “As I got to high school, I took pride in my — shall I say — holiness attire, meaning no makeup, my hair was pressed only, and my skirts were well below the knees, and (I wore) a prayer head covering in every color to match my outfits.”

And so it eventually came to pass that at a very young age, while being raised in a home where attending church regularly surprisingly wasn’t a customary trend, Townsend — for a lack of better words — still ultimately found her way to cross.

HANDPICKED BY GODA vibrant, vivacious 46-year-old woman of the cloth, Townsend has enjoyed a ministerial tenure that spans nearly two decades — 18 years to exact.
As Townsend eloquently explained during a recent interview with Making Headlines News, while she customarily found herself trying to flee from her Kingdom work-related responsibilities — or her divine calling, if you will — she ultimately came to realization that God, as sovereign as He is, had other ideas.

You know, where she first saw the light, as one classic songwriter insinuated.

“All while attending this holiness church all on my own,” she said. “I recall being excited when the deacons would arrive to pick me up to carry me to church. And filling honored that two deacons rode in the front and made sure I sat in the back and arrived to church safety. Those were days of ministry and I knew God had more in store for me.”

Today, unlike never before, Townsend, a devoted married mother of two children (Christian and Crystal), is savoring the fruits of her labor all because she never grew weary in well doing.

Aside her flourishing, self-founded ministry, Townsend is the Assistant Pastor of the Empowerment Worship Center, a Greenville, South Carolina-based church that was founded by Alabama native Pastor James Perry Jr., Lady Lisa and a few board members in 2009.

A progressive, thriving institution whose featured vision is, “To empower the people in unity and in love so that the believer and unbeliever can be enriched and empowered from a spiritually, emotionally, financially and economically, physically, accompanied by a social perspective,” Empowerment Worship Center has served as an empowering beacon of light in the Greenville community, in large because it is committed to staying rooted and grounded through the word of God so that every believer should have (Acts 2:44-47) and experience the blessings and promises of God through faith and obedience.

BECOME EMPOWERED: http://empowermentworshipcenter.org/.

As Townsend recalls, after several unsuccessful attempts to elude her life-enhancing calling, she finally obeyed the voice of God to preach the Gospel years ago while visiting a nearby church.

“As a former South Carolina cosmetologist, I have a passion for fashion,” Townsend explained. “As we would travel and sang and my former Bishop would be preaching, I took pride in doing the hair for some of the ladies in the choir. It was at one of our numerous rehearsals that Bishop called me into his office to discuss an upcoming tour. I was honored that he wanted me to style the ladies’ hair.”

As it turned out, that brief dialogue with her Bishop ultimately gave way to divine, tear-jerking calling for the ages, one that, all things considered, was the precursor, of sorts, to what is taking place in Townsend’s life today.

“Little did I know, that was not the only reason for the meeting,” Townsend explained. “As I proceeded to leave the office, he asked me a question that stopped me in my tracks. The question was, ‘Didn’t get much sleep around 3 am, huh?’ I instantly knew where the second half of this meeting was going.”

Tears immediately began to flow in the wee hours of the morning, Townsend recalls.

“I was awakened out of my sleep at 3 am,” said Townsend, immediately recalling the meeting with her Bishop. I kept a journal and pen on my nightstand by the bed. I picked it up and started writing. When I finished I turned on the lamp and looked at what would be my first sermon titled, ‘Stop Running.’”

HONORABLE MENTIONJust recently, Townsend, the Founder of DIVAS 4 Christ Ministries, deemed it essential that she place a figurative bookmarker in her congested itinerary and share the assortment of life-changing events surrounding what has become a successful, progressive pastoral career for the Anderson, South Carolina native.

A sermonic debut she said was centered on the Biblical story of Jonah — most notably the events surrounding his encounter in the belly of the fish — that Townsend refrained from trying to duck and dodge her God-mandated calling practically sums up why her ministry has come full circle — with God, her Helper, leading the way.

MORE ABOUT YOLANDA TOWNSEND:
www.Divas4ChristMinistries.org.

Besides DIVAS 4 Christ Ministries, she and her husband, Christopher Townsend, Sr., share a weekly radio segment that airs under their ministry’s umbrella entitled, “Straight Up No Chaser Grown Folks Style Radio Blog Show (founded by Mr. and Mrs. West),” during which the couple enlighten listeners with what they describe as “marriage ministry wisdom nuggets,” as well as prayer requests, testimonials, among other things to enhance and enrich lives.

AWWWWWWW….Besides DIVAS 4 Christ Ministries, she and her husband, Christopher Townsend, Sr., share a weekly radio segment that airs under their ministry umbrella entitled, “Straight Up No Chaser Grown Folks Style Radio Blog Show” during which the couple provide listeners with what they describe as “marriage ministry wisdom nuggets,” as well as prayer requests, testimonials, among other things to enhance and enrich lives.

And what’s so astounding for the Townsends is that God isn’t through with them yet, something by which Pastor Yolanda doesn’t shy away from sharing daily.

RUNNING FOR JESUS — “The more I ran, the greater the chase,” Townsend said of the events leading to her accepting her calling to preach the Gospel. “Until one day I could not run any longer. After attending our ministers’ classes, I preached my initial sermon.”

A PASTOR YOLANDA RELATED STORY: https://makingheadlinenews.com/2017/02/09/south-carolina-pastor-yolanda-townsends-7th-annual-pink-pajama-party-figures-to-hold-more-meaning-amid-potentially-fatal-house-fire/.

To her recollection, her first sermon was given on December 29, 1999, during which she spoke from the subject, “Have You Thought About Hell Lately?”

Given the immense strides she made in a ministerial career that spans nearly two decades, it’s safe to assume Pastor Yolanda’s answer to such an attention-grabbing inquiry is a resounding “No!”

Dallas-area author Gina McGowan-Cade’s spiritually empowering book having a huge impact in the Body of Christ

TEXAS SIZE IMPACT — A native of Dallas, Gina McGowan-Cade is the author of “Iron Sharpens Iron: Encouragement for the Soul,” an inspiring, tear-jerking, spiritually confirming book in where McGowan-Cade’s featured message is rather direct and forthright — to remind the people of God that God is always with us. SEAGOVILLE, Texas — Three years.

That’s about how long it took for Gina McGowan-Cade to assemble a book that, all things considered, has changed the overall landscape of the lives of countless individuals.

To her distinct credit, such an investment — and act of obedience to God — was worth every minute.

“I have been a writer since I was a child,” McGowan-Cade, a Dallas/Fort Worth-based author, told Making Headline News during a recent interview. “I began to write words of encouragement and put them away in a desk drawer.”

The rest, as they say, is history.

Armed with the uniquely beautiful gift and passion for writing, McGowan-Cade, a devout woman of faith, obeyed the voice of God by strategically erecting a figurative pulpit, of sorts, by way of a life-enhancing book that would greatly impact the lives of individuals from various walks of life.

A native of Dallas, McGowan-Cade is the author of “Iron Sharpens Iron: Encouragement for the Soul,” an inspiring, tear-jerking, spiritually confirming book in which McGowan-Cade’s featured message is rather direct and forthright — to remind the people of God that God is always with us.

“He has our best interest at His heart,” McGowan-Cade said. “We are not to give up and throw in the towel while we are going through, but hold on to what little we have, even if that is a little faith, a little money, a little understanding or whatever the situation may be. Our breakthrough does come.”

WOMAN OF PURE EXCELLENCEAll it took was three years for McGowan-Cade to assemble a book that, all things considered, has changed the overall landscape of the lives of countless individuals. To her distinct credit, it was well worth every minute invested.

By and large, even when we find ourselves in a state of waiting as we are reminded according to Psalm 27:14, even when our faith is being placed on trial and the enemy attempts to cross-examine us with his customary devices as only he can, even when it seems our faith is bleak and we seem on shaky ground, McGowan-Cade steadfastly issued another pivotal reminder to her reading audience.

“Wait with faith and watch for the breakthrough,” she said with authority.

All of which practically sums up why “Iron Sharpens Iron: Encouragement for the Soul” seems well on its way to becoming a monumental hub for spiritual encouragement in the Body of Christ in the foreseeable future.

PREACH, GINA! Armed with the uniquely beautiful gift of writing, McGowan-Cade, a devout woman of faith, obeyed the voice of God by strategically erecting a pulpit, of sorts, by way of a life-enhancing book that would greatly impact the lives of individuals from various walks of life.

Said June Yvonne Gates, one buyer, in a written review: My God!!! My God!!! When I Say Your Book Is Soul Touching And Absolutely Uplifting Gina You Definitely Hit It On Point From Family, Waiting On That God Sent Mate To Trusting God In Every Situation And Sharing The Love Of God With Others Your Book Has Really BLESSED My Soul Thank You! For Letting God Use You.

Then there was this rather extensive, in-depth review by another buyer: Mrs. Cade, thank you for being obedient and writing “Iron Sharpens Iron.” I want you to understand where I’m coming from. I’ve been running on, pressing and praying for a while now and I recently got tired and fell, but thankfully God picked me back up before I got comfortable. I’ve been working three jobs to get by and haven’t been to church in almost two months I think. On my way in the door tonight I heard a soft voice say “Oliver, breathe, just breathe, even fire has to breathe in order to spread” suddenly a hunger for the word began but I could not (can’t) find my bible! So I grabbed your book and just opened it and saw a word in bold letters that read “Faith” (page 75) and I started reading. I received remembrance, power, and direction through this reading. After reading about faith, I continued on and read “Battling from the bottom” (surely God knows what Oliver needs to hear lol) and I received some confirmation and healing! I consider myself strong yet the past three or four days has felt like fluctuations. Mrs. Cade this book you wrote makes a positive difference to the heart, mind, soul, and spirit. Whether in darkness or bright this book brings light and life, and I could go into deep detail but I must get some rest. I hope I didn’t disturb you or Byron, just thought you should urgently know before I forget to tell you. Thanks!

THUS SAID THE LORD“He has our best interest at His heart,” McGowan-Cade said. “We are not to give up and throw in the towel while we are going through, but hold on to what little we have, even if that is a little faith, a little money, a little understanding or whatever the situation may be. Our breakthrough does come.”

And there you have it, an array of positive, spiritually gut-checking feedback for a book that, to McGowan-Cade’s distinct credit, was well worth every minute of the investment with God, her Helper, leading the way.

“The words would just flow from me and (onto) paper was where they would land,” said McGowan-Cade, explaining how her Creator infused her with the Light of the Holy Spirit to publish her book. “One day, the Holy Spirit spoke (and said): ‘These words are not to be put away in a drawer.’ I begin to share them with others online. One day, I was reviewing them and it all came together, and the birth of the book begins to take off.”

The rest, as they say, is history.
