Jennifer Davis-Sithole isn’t just fulfilling a dream of a lifetime.
She thinks it necessary daily to reach back and enable others to follow suit.
“It is my mission the make sure that our African-American actors and actresses are recognized for their work,” Davis-Sithole told Making Headline News during a recent interview.
To her distinct credit, she has been nothing short of impressive, particularly as it pertains to aiding others to maximize their God-given potential.
A native of Byhalia, Mississippi, Davis-Sithole is Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Diversity On Stage & Film (or DOSF), a business-related entertainment-based organization she created to honor and recognize Mid-South-area African-American actors and actresses for their solid, compelling stage and film work as well assist those who aspire to delve off into this ever-so-competitive entertainment industry.
In addition, DOSF’s mission involves, among other things, helping to bring more awareness to live theatre in the African-American community as well as to, as Davis-Sithole emphasized, “get them in the seats.”
A self-proclaimed “theatre junkie,” Davis-Sithole acknowledged that she witnesses approximately 50-60 productions each year. In doing so, her primary ambition is to “honor and encourage” as many of her cast members as possible.
In a nutshell, it doesn’t take long for aspiring actors and actresses to realize that when joining DOSF, they will come to a realization that the golden rule essentially is indicative to Davis-Sithole’s keen leadership qualities, thus headlines a notable business venture that is starting to generate a national presence.
Surely, bigger and brighter days undoubtedly are ahead for DOSF, which was organized in 2014.
That’s because Davis-Sithole has had the luxury of traveling to various establishments across the country to pay witness to plays, most notably Memphis, Jackson, Tennessee, Jackson, Mississippi, Little Rock, Atlanta, Branson, Missouri, New York City, Winchester, Virginia, Washington, DC, Chicago, and Dallas, among other sites.
“I’ve literally traveled the country seeing theatre,” Davis-Sithole said.
And fortunately for her, coupled with her compassion for helping others realize they can make their dream a reality, it’s safe to assume those with whom Davis Sithole routinely crosses paths have thoroughly embraced her vision through her progressive, thriving business.
“DOSF was totally birthed from the heart and is funded by me,” said Davis-Sithole, adding that her organization is devising ways to generate funding by way of sponsors.
A proud graduate of Holly Springs (Mississippi) High’s Class of 1983, Davis-Sithole’s business caters mostly to individuals ranging in ages 16 and over, she said.
In addition, DOSF will be afforded the opportunity to generate more exposure, thus have a greater impact in the African-American community when it hosts its 3rd Annual DOSF Awards Ceremony on March 12 at the Buckman Performing Arts Center, a much-anticipated annual event in which Davis-Sithole once again will have the golden opportunity to build on her long-awaited dream of a lifetime.
When asked why is it imperative that she esteem and inspire others daily, Davis-Sithole said, “Simply because I am by brother’s keeper.”
Just as God intended it to be.
