“You don’t come to terms with something before you do it. It’s only after you’ve done it that you realize, you know, maybe that wasn’t the best thing to do. Sometimes, you gotta fall down to know the feeling to get up.” — DMX
SIMPLY INVINCIBLE
As far as the above quote that was once uttered by the late DMX goes, Polo DaPlayboi can greatly attest to what it’s like to fall down and get back up.
Consider, for instance, how the Atlanta-based rapper steadfastly took the initiative to atone for his apparent shortcomings when he unceremoniously bolted high school just as he was on the brink of earning his diploma.
“I dropped out of high school in the 11th grade, but eventually went and got my GED,” Polo DaPlayboi, during a weekend interview with Making Headline News, said, recalling arguably one of the most pivotal defining moments of his life.
For Polo DaPlayboi — whose actual name is Mario Branch — he has become a fixture in this ever-so-competitive entertainment industry for starting from the bottom only to silence his critics as a result.
Having made immeasurable strides also as a songwriter, actor, model, and producer, Polo DaPlayboi is steadily making a strong, resilient case that he’s destined to emerge as a household name as an entertainer whom, to his credit, is witnessing his celebrity soar to immense heights right before his eyes.

“A lot of my fans been rocking with me for 10 years or more,” Polo DaPlayboi said of his fervent rise as a progressive, thriving entertainer. “I’m gaining new fans who are young, and my female fan base is growing fast too.”
A native of Columbia, South Carolina, Polo DaPlayboi is the mastermind behind the new album, “WhoizPoloDaPlayboi.” His latest EP (extended play), “The Legend of Don Marko Polo,” is scheduled to drop mid-May, the entertainer told MHN.
Not only that, Polo DaPlayboi has become a crafty, resourceful entrepreneur in his own right, considering he is the chief operating officer of The Bavinci Group Inc., a company that was started by he and his brother, Jamaican Tony.
“I’ve always had a boss mentality,” Polo DaPlayboi said. “I started hustling and making money as a youngin. Even in high school, I was making more money than most of my teachers. I’m raised to be a hustler and (affiliated) with guys who own their business or made their own way. I took that same drive and attitude and applied it to my own business.”
Interestingly enough, Polo DaPlayboi would be the first to admit that he doesn’t discriminate when to come to whom his shares his music.
“I make music for everyone from the dancers to the 9-to-5 women,” Polo DaPlayboi said. “Same thing with the guys…hustlers, gangsters and 9-to-5 brothers be vibing with me too. That’s a blessing. I feel like I can bring everyone together.”
Given the sustained success he’s enjoyed since he delved off into the entertainment industry, it’s safe to assume Polo DaPlayboi doesn’t plan to slow down anytime soon.
MAKING HIS PRESENCE FELT
Heck, why should he when his entertainment reputation is such that he’s destined to become a household name?
Much sooner than later.
Don’t believe him? Just watch.
“I’ve always loved music, fashion, and artistic vibes,” said Polo DaPlayboi, who’s been freestyling lyrics since the tender age of “10 or 11 with the older bros,” he recalls. “That’s how I build the confidence to become an artist. Songwriting came naturally because I like to read. I’ve always been a fresh and fly dresser, so the fashion was definitely my first love. When I put them all together, I realized I had a real gift and talent.”
For what it’s worth, it is a remarkably brilliant gift this up-and-coming entertainer, by all accounts, had definitively chose to embrace nearly a decade and-a-half ago.

“I never really took the music serious until around 2007,” Polo DaPlayboi explained. “One of my young n***** wanted to rap, so one day, he introduced me to an engineer who was working on some for the Dungeon family members. I remember walking into Stankonia (the fourth studio album by hip hop duo OutKast) for the first time and absolutely fell in love with the vibe. It was then I knew this is what I wanted to do.”
And the rest, as they say, was history.
It wasn’t long thereafter that Polo DaPlayboi was writing and producing his own songs, all the while featuring other artists on his tracks.
“The music business is so similar to the streets,” said Polo DaPlayboi, adding that he’s booked for upcoming shows and events this month, as well as a few tour opportunities for which he recently signed on. “I have been all over the place doing shows and connecting with other artists, producers, etc. I’ve done shows in California, Tennessee, Alabama, Chicago, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Baltimore, and other places, too. I love rocking out with my fans. I feel like they’re family, to be honest, so it’s always a good vibe at my shows.
“My goal through music is to make the soundtrack for your everyday life,” Polo DaPlayboi continued. “I have songs that touch on every emotion. When it comes to my artists, I wanna make them stars and success. The key to my success is making way for the next successful person. I want to make a space for artists to be artists all around and also be wealthy.”
Long before Polo DaPlayboi found his niche as an entertainer, he spent years watching whom he appropriately describes as “the GOATS of the industry — rappers like Jay-Z, Biggie and Tupac, among others.
“I love their lyrical abilities and the way they told stories,” Polo DaPlayboi said of those who paved the way to his entertainment greatness. “With me being from the south, I was influenced heavily by Master P, UGK, Eightball & MJG, The Geto Boys, and plenty of other legends. T.I.P. a was a major influence and I could relate to him because I saw so much of myself in him and what he was saying. Gucci Mane is the one that made me wanna go hard. His work ethic is crazy.”
Fortunately for Polo DaPlayboi, he’s managed to follow suit, managed to find his fervent niche in an ever-so-competitive arena, where he’s destined to make noise for years to come — an upward trend for which he’s destined to strive after starting from the bottom only to silence his critics as a result.
