EDITOR’S NOTE: In honor of Suffolk, Virginia Clergyman Michael Baker Sr.’s immeasurable strides as a first-time author and longtime Senior Pastor of Greater Works Community Outreach, Making Headline News deemed it necessary to label this our Annual Memorial Day Weekend Special Report
And I say also unto thee, that thou art Peter, and upon this rock, I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
(Matthew 16:18 KJV)
AMEN & AMEN
Nearly five decades.
That is the timeframe by which Michael Baker Sr. had been destined to share what essentially is his life-altering testimony.
“I’ve had the vision for almost 50 years to tell my story,” Baker Sr. told Making Headline News during a weekend interview. “I was granted the privilege and opportunity by God to meet Mrs. Frye several months ago.”
For Baker Sr., it was, by all accounts, a divine connection with Deborah Juniper-Frye whom, much to his delight, helped the longtime preacher achieve his long-awaited milestone as an author.
Baker is one of 14 co-authors who have collaborated to produce Grief Through His Eyes: Seeing Grief From His Point Of View, Juniper-Frye’s highly-anticipated, Amazon Bestselling anthology that is accompanied by a number of life-altering stories.

For Baker Sr., the beloved Senior Pastor of Greater Works Community Outreach in Suffolk, Virginia, his rise to becoming a first-time author has been nothing short of impressive for someone who diligently sought God for a divine sense of direction as it relates to telling his story.
Baker Sr., in fact, wrote from the subject, “The Locked Door,” a topic that, fortunately for him, opened the door to his reaping the spiritual restoration he needed.
“(I was determined) to share my experiences and my story, (reminding the masses) that someone else can relate to and have the same freedom and victory from their grief and pain, that I received as I wrote it,” Baker Sr. told MHN. “There were some things that I had never spoken on before. And, as I finally released them, I began to heal.”
What’s even more astounding, Baker Sr. disclosed, is that his much-anticipated moment of “release and relief” came approximately two months ago, a development that also played out in his chosen chapter of Grief Through His Eyes: Seeing Grief From His Point Of View.
As for the divine message he’s aiming to get across to his readers, Baker Sr. said: “My divine message is that even though you are at the lowest point in life, it can be turned around. Your grief can be turned around, leading to you finding purpose in your life.”
YES, LORD!
That, after all, practically sums up why God’s people must embrace the fact that we must play with the hand we are are dealt, Baker Sr. says without hesitation.
“Invite the right people into your life for positive perspectives,” Baker Sr. said. “Release your emotions and don’t be a pressure cooker. Release for peace. This is how you turn your grief around. Use your pain to take you to your purpose.”
To his credit, Baker Sr. has become the beneficiary of an assortment of rave reviews since word spread that he has become a newcomer to the world of authorship.
“The feedback and reviews stated that it was encouraging, it is therapeutic, it is inspirational,” Baker Sr. said. “Someone said, ‘I can make it too.’”
Now that his debut as an author has come full circle, Baker Sr. said that at least three more books are on the horizon.
The titles: The Locked Door, The Power of the Blended Family, and The Second Son.
